Gifasp Academy - Beating price pressures with efficient flexo

Knowledge is power

NOTHING MORE OBVIOUS THAN THIS BUT IT IS IMPORTANT TO REALIZE THAT IN A CONSTANTLY EVOLVING WORLD, KNOWLEDGE IS NO LONGER STATIC, IT IS A PROCESS OF CONTINUOUS BUILDING AND IT IS PRECISELY KNOWLEDGE THAT ALLOWS COMPANIES TO BE INNOVATIVE AND ADAPTIVE IN THE GLOBAL MARKET, THIS IS WHAT GIFASP ACADEMY WOULD LIKE TO ACHIEVE: OFFERING ASSOCIATED COMPANIES THE OPPORTUNITY TO UPDATE THEMSELVES ON TECHNOLOGIES AND MATERIALS THROUGH SEMINARS AND PUBLICATION OF VOLUMES AIMED AT CONTRIBUTING TO THE TECHNICAL TRAINING OF OPERATORS IN THE PAPER AND CARDBOARD INDUSTRY

Gifasp Academy was born in 2019, during the presidency of Alessandro Tomassini, following a preparatory work conducted by the Technical Committee, which started when Emilio Albertini, now president of Assografici, was president of Gifasp. “For some time, in fact, after the first years of experience of the Technical Committee, it had emerged how important it was to offer associates tools and moments of study and training, dedicated to the technical figures in the company. Gifasp Academy tries to translate this goal with its constant activity of needs analysis, research of innovations and proactivity in the technical solutions dedicated to the companies of our members. All this thanks also to an intense exchange and relationship work with our sympathetic members, who have always offered their support and availability”, explains Gianandrea Totaro, coordinator of Gifasp Academy. The feedback received was very positive from the associated companies that have participated in numerous webinars organized in recent years, also because the webinars favor the connection between members and companies that supply technologies and materials, “giving rise to a constructive relationship, to share information and giving the opportunity to be informed on the hot topics of the sector, after all, it is precisely these training activities that give the real added value to an industrial association”, says Totaro.

WEBINAR AND TECHNICAL DOCUMENTS The commitment of Gifasp Academy is to schedule at least one seminar every two months and at least the publication of one technical document per year, which is distributed to members, becoming part of the Gifasp training library. The first document was produced on the basis of one of the topics explored in the course of 2021, namely the ennobling in paper and cardboard industry, and was released in December 2021. This year the technical webinars were dedicated to: cyber security, dimensional tolerances in the creation of a case, 2.0 laser die-cutting, relief and its start-up; to follow three other webinars will address the topics of prepress and color management, trademarks and industrial property and digital printing. Gifasp Academy will present, at its next Assembly in November 2022, the second volume, dedicated to “Dimensional Tolerances in the creation of a case”. This volume contains what was dealt with in six seminars between 2021 and 2022 focused on all stages of processing and processes, from the arrival of the raw material (cardboard) in the company to the packaging of the folding box ready to be shipped by the customer, passing through printing, die-cutting, relief, folding, gluing, and so on. “The work saw its conclusion in the presentation and spreading with the last seminar on June 15 this year, which involved all the players in the supply chain in researching and agreeing together on the real reference values (cases manufacturers - machine manufacturers of packaging - final customer who packages the product); it has been a long and significant work, which has allowed us once again to create a tool that will be useful and effective in the production departments of our associates and for all their technicians and professionals. The seminars were followed with great interest, which reached its peak during the last seminar to show and share the results and conclusions reached. The second volume will tell all this, remaining available for all members who wish to have it and consult it”, explains Totaro. This model, of in-depth seminars and spreading, of technical documents to be made available to associates, fits perfectly into the model that Assografici is carrying out to make it transversal to all specialization groups, generating the basis to also arrive at a sharing between intergroups and no longer only inside the single specialization group within Assografici.
