The mission remains the same: “to provide a safe, nurturing environment for every child who comes here.” Haven, a residential group home for adolescent girls, has occupied three different locations and has helped an estimated 3,000 girls. Haven staff members are mental health paraprofessionals who are trained and certified to assist residents. The staff works with other local agencies, schools, volunteers, and graduate students and social work interns from local colleges to truly make Haven a home. They offer a wide array of wrap-around services, including counseling, life-skills training, and extracurricular activities. In 2017, Haven began its first comprehensive campaign, “Every Child Deserves a Home.” This campaign sets out to build a facility that will provide clients and staff with a home that can serve the growing demands of the Arkansas foster-child community for years to come. Outstanding Small Business Conway Manufacturing Group Founded in the 1980s, Conway Manufacturing Group has grown from a tool-and-die shop to an innovative manufacturing facility consisting of three unique brands: Conway Machine, Jet Machine, and Bison Pumps. Their purpose across all brands is to craft a high-quality product that is sold at a competitive price. As a U.S.-based manufacturer, Conway Manufacturing Group has learned to be innovative, constantly thinking toward the future of manufacturing and the implementation of new ideas. One of their largest challenges is finding and retaining skilled labor. In response, they have created their own inhouse training program, which has won several grants and has been met with excitement and enthusiasm from team members. Not stopping there, Conway Manufacturing Group has also begun the process of becoming a LEAN-certified manufacturer. This is a concept that streamlines the manufacturing process with the goal of using the least amount of space and resources for a maximum output of product. Team members are encouraged to work together to solve problems. They believe that implementing LEAN will encourage productivity and a greater sense of ownership over the employees’ work, which will improve the culture and overall work environment at the company.

Pro Auto Pro Auto began when Harold Ross started buying, repairing, and selling salvaged vehicles. In the more than 30 years since, Pro Auto has ventured into new trade lines, which has expanded their workforce and capacity dramatically. Still owned by the Ross family, Pro Auto’s services include collision repair, towing and transport, sales and auction, and fleet management and acquisition. It was the first tow company in Conway to have all of its operators certified in Traffic Incident Management. Over the past five years, Pro Auto has achieved gold status from the Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair, or I-CAR, one of the highest certifications in the automotive-repair industry. Pro Auto does not limit its focus to vehicles and automotive services; the goal is problem solving. The team realizes that when most people come to see them, it is not because they are having a good day. Pro Auto’s goal is to get customers past road blocks and on with their lives. Pro Auto is also involved in the community, with team members supporting organizations such as Children’s Advocacy Alliance, Arkansas Food Bank, Toys for Tots, Heifer International, Bethlehem House, and Samaritan’s Purse.
