2016 marked the opening of South America’s first major exhibition of Australian Indigenous art.
Organised and curated by Cooee Art, with contributions by curator and artist Djon Mundine as well as 2 Levels Art Consultancy, O Tempo Dos Sonhos introduced the work of 76 artists to a South American audience. The show was originally held at the Australia Now Festival during the lead-up to the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games.
Following the huge success of the initial exhibition, the collection would spend the next three years touring the continent, first as O Tempo Dos Sonhos (Out of the Dreaming) and later as Tiempo De Sueños for Spanish-speaking audiences. It was shown in museums and galleries in Rio de Janiero, Brazilia, Curatiba, Forteleza, Racife, Belo Horizonte, Salvador, Ouro Preto and São Paulo.
And it would not have stopped there, had it not have been for the pandemic trapping people indoors and paintings in crates. Finally, after three years, Tiempo De Sueños has opened in Argentina, at Agencia Cord
