CONSIDERATIONS FOR AN HPS DESIGN 1. What factor(s) is/are most important to you with your power system? A) Operating expense reduction B) Upfront capital expenditure C) Return on investment D) Reliability / system uptime 2. What is the $ budget; is this expenditure approved and funded; is there an expected R.O.I.? 3. Intended timeframe for: proposal, contract award, system deployment, commissioning? 4. Location: A) Coordinates B) Access issues; truck / helicopter etc, ? C) Any permitting requirements for the power system? D) Soil/ground conditions (for foundation designs)? E) Any restrictions with operation of a generator; any restrictions with periodic fuel delivery? F) How often will site be accessed; will site be remote monitored, and how? G) Is grid power an option, or simply not economically feasible? H) Why this specific location? 5. Load(s): A) AC and/or DC B) Voltage, Hz, and 1P/3P C) Wattage (load/draw) i) 24 hour duty cycle ii) Monthly and seasonal variances iii) Continuous and peak D) Provisions for future increases E) Positive or negative ground 6. Area available for PV array, and distance from B.O.S. equipment; any shading issues on this area? 7. Indoor shelter available for batteries and B.O.S. equipment? Preference for cabinets for equipment? 8. Is site monitoring a requirement or desirable feature? If so, what communications are available at the site? Is remote control of equipment needed or wanted, if so what are the requirements?

CONSIDERATIONS FOR AN HPS DESIGN 9. Environmental conditions (if available): A) Hi & low temperatures B) Average seasonal snow depth (if applicable) C) Average (and peak) wind speed and direction data (monthly basis) D) Is there access to a Meteorological and Environmental Tower (MET)? 10. Desired or intended RE power offset (% of power from RE sources vs. a generator); daily and seasonal? 11. Desired or intended battery autonomy? 12. Have you collected daily load profile data? Can you provide 30 – 60 days of daily load data? To gauge daily, monthly and seasonal variation, how can we best capture the data and make determinations around the variation? 13. What make, model and nameplate rating generator(s) do you have installed? 14. What is the in-service age of the generator(s)? 15. What is the annual cost of operating the generator(s), broken down by maintenance and fuel? 16. What is the generator replacement cost and estimated lifecycle? 17. What is the cost of generator fuel? Do you have a long term supply agreement in place for fuel? 18. Describe the generator fuel storage and replenishment process so we can estimate the operational costs related to providing fuel for the generator(s).
