Student Learning Overview
Applications are sought for the above traineeship from students in Year 10 during 2021. It is preferable that students intend to study two Senior Science subjects in 2022.
The course is expected to take two years to complete (8 school terms), and the early completion of this course will assist in reducing the workload in the final months of Year 12.
Successful completion of the course provides 8 points toward the QCE. This Certificate III course will be managed within the individual student’s timetable (i.e., Yr 10 in a timetabled Elective line, Senior Phase in a Senior Subject Line).
Structure
To be awarded a Certificate III in Laboratory Skills competency must be achieved in the total of thirteen (13) units of competency, of which there are six (6) core units and seven (7) electives. The Registered Trainer chosen is Alan Bartlett Consulting. https://www.abconsulting.edu.au/

The following Criteria should be addressed and enclosed with your application:
Criteria 1 – Academic Ability and Motivation 1. Students will undertake research tasks requiring independent study skills whilst completing a Certificate III in
Laboratory Skills. • Describe how your academic results in Secondary demonstrate that you have the ability to complete these and other tasks to a level capable of completing the Certificate III course.
2. Successful applicants will need to be highly motivated and capable of using initiative within the scope of the course and allowed practices. • Describe how you have demonstrated this in the past, or how you will achieve this.
Criteria 2 – Teamwork and Interpersonal Skills
1. Successful applicants work effectively as part of a team while completing the Certificate III in Laboratory Skills. • Describe the interpersonal skills you have which will help you in working as part of a team.
Student Learning Overview
Students will complete a Certificate II in Outdoor Recreation. The nationally recognised qualification is completed in 12 months (Year 11 or 12). The VET course provides 4 credit points towards the QCE on successful completion, or a Statement of Attainment for partial completion.
Assessment Information
4 projects - each includes a single written task and several practical demonstrations.

11 units including 4 Core (as listed) and 7 Electives (may include those listed below).

Additional Information
The approximate cost of the course will be approximately $1,000. This includes administrative costs, excursions and resourcing of practical activities.
