Neighbourhood House, Community House or Adult Learning Centre, whatever the name, these places are the heart of the Knox community. More recently referred to as Learn Local organisations, we provide social, educational and recreational activities within a welcoming and supportive environment. There are five Learn Local organisations in Knox. Coonara Community House offers a large number of qualifications in Community Services, Children’s Services, Leisure & Health and Disability up to Diploma level. Subsidised computer classes run each term. Coonara offers workshops on gardening, cooking and getting ‘back to basics’. Short courses provide pathways to employment and build learner confidence. Other programs include a food garden, a community newspaper and many volunteering opportunities. Please note that in the interests of asthma sufferers, Coonara is a perfume and after-shave free zone. Career counselling Individual sessions of 30 mins or one hour available with an experienced and qualified counsellor. $54 per 30 mins or $99 per hour. Please phone for a booking. Government funds The Victorian Training Guarantee provides all eligible Victorian citizens or permanent residents with subsidised fees. To be eligible you must be upskilling enrolling in a qualification at a higher level than any other completed qualifications that you hold. Students under 20 years of age are exempted.

Prana Meditation
Suzie Szabo is a professional energy healer and meditation facilitator with over 12 years of experience conducting classes. She is currently facilitating many groups in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Suzie will share with you different forms of meditation as she gently guides you on a deep healing journey within, using simple methods of visualisation and breathing techniques to calm body mind and soul. Meditations include; energy healing and chakra healing meditation, sound healing meditation, angelic and spirit guide connections, crystal meditation, twin hearts meditation and many more. The practices shared during sessions are simple yet can bring about deep healing and transformation at all levels. Weaving from Your Garden
Create a random weave ball or vessel with Josie Brennan. Participants will need to bring recently gathered vines such as 2nd year growth wisteria, 2nd year growth Jasmine (ground runners are the best, Ivy or Willow. Mixed materials are fine. All these need to be stripped of greenery. Curling the vines in gentle circles will help in transportation (do not bend them!). Wednesday 1.00pm - 3.00pm 29th October $10 per person

Explore different methods of making Apple cider and the very popular PerryPear cider also apple cider vinegar. Box 7041 Upper Ferntree Gully 3156. Please include a note with your contact details and the course you have chosen. Refunds & concessions Courses require minimum numbers to proceed. If we cancel a class you will receive a full refund. If you withdraw from a class at least 48 hours prior to the commencement you will receive a refund less a $10 administration fee. Within 48 hours of the class commencement no refund can be given. Concession fees apply to some courses for those on pensions and health care cards. The refund policy for accredited training differs from the above and is advertised on the enrolment form and our website.
