Colony Lane Non-Profit Senior Apartments Newsletter The Leasing Committee is a group of volunteers that is willing to help process future applicants for the building. They attend a workshop to learn how to do the job in accordance with HUD guidelines & Fair Housing laws. They set up interview dates and times and interview applicants. They encourage others to become involved with their future home. The Décor Committee is made up of volunteers that help to choose the colors and furniture for the offices and common areas. They also help to select colors for the countertops, carpet, floor tile, and anything else that may come up during construction. The Bylaws & House Rules Committee is composed of a group of volunteers that propose rules to the co-op. They can use sister co-ops’ rules as a guideline. Ultimately, all the resident members will have a chance to vote on the proposed rules. The Marketing Committee recommends publications for placing ads in local papers.

People Working Together To Help Each Other

The second “interested persons meeting” for Colony Lane Senior Non-Profit Co-op Apartments was held at the Robert Bowen Senior Center on January 16th. Everyone on the waitlist was invited to attend. It was a lively group with lots of great questions. There was a presentation on cooperative-living and the importance of co-op committees. Attendees had the opportunity to volunteer for the committees of their choice. Information was shared on what Colony Lane Co-op will be like upon its completion this fall. Ernestine Gloster, Certification Specialist at CSI Support & Development, provided information on the rent structure and the process that is used to determine rents. The interested persons on the wait list were able to make two significant decisions about the building. They where given three color group options for the public areas of the building, and three color group options for the apartments. Using our democratic process, option two was selected for both areas.

Check out the carpet, cabinet, countertop, paint color, and the kitchen and bath floor tile selections.

The lobby, community room, hallways and other common areas will look beautiful with this selection.
