An Initiative of Pomona & District Community House Inc.
Documentary shows PCH green credentials to the world Late last year Pomona Community House was approached by the ‘Greenhouse Around the Corner’ project, an initiative of Adult Learning Australia. The project is designed to provide energy efficiency information to the adult and community education sector. Adult Learning Australia had heard of the construction of the Lawson Shed and its cost cutting design measures which contribute to self-sufficiency and the reduction in carbon emissions. When interviewed for the project, Brian Lawson explained that it was a seven-year saga from the realisation that the existing Community House had become too small to cater for what the community needed. The proposed building was priced in at around $350,000 to build a design that would blend in with the Pomona Community House and the Pomona Memorial School of Arts Hall. In the end we were only able to come up with a total of $149,000 so Brian decided to find a way of getting the job done on such a small budget.
