Kin Kin residents join to celebrate the Biosphere The recurring theme of the second Noosa BioFest celebration held at Kin Kin was ‘we are one’ – one with each other and one with nature. The relaxed nature of the festival, and its depth and variety, impressed organisers, who said Kin Kin was the natural location for the celebration of the Noosa Biosphere. “This is the upper catchment of the Noosa River and while people might focus on the water quality downstream, the fish life and the oyster beds, the most significant project the Noosa Biosphere Reserve Foundation can fund is the Keep It In Kin Kin restoration,” said John News, principal organiser.

He used colourful language to stress the point: “We should be worrying about the heart and lungs of the Biosphere (at Kin Kin) rather than the haemorrhoids down at the coast.” Continued page 2
Anything but a Silent Night If you have not yet been to Pomona’s Night of Lights – the annual Christmas celebration of community in Stan Topper Park – reserve Thursday, 12 December in your diary. While carollers sing of the star of Bethlehem, it’s a laser show extravaganza presented by Coruno Laser Productions that will dazzle overhead at Pomona. Music will be provided by Steve and Ainsley
Apirana and special performance by Oh Harlow, formerly The Dennis Sisters and Pomona carol singers. Food, raffles and a visit from Santa Claus round out an evening of entertainment starting at 5pm. The event is hosted by the Pomona & District Community House and the Cooroy Pomona Lions Club. A special thankyou to Noosa Council for our festival funding.
With the threat of bushfires still about, this year’s event will take on a special meaning – of thanks and of a community coming together to demonstrate solidarity and resilience. Bring a chair and picnic blanket and enjoy the festive occasion. For more information phone the Pomona Community House on 5485 2427.
