Tradition of remembrance is very strong‌ Remembrance Day 2020 commemorations in Pomona were simple and short, but no less poignant or relevant as people maintained their distance during an evocative wreath-laying ceremony. Commemoration was observed as people took turns to lay wreaths at the Rotunda War Memorial, which was restored and rededicated in 2018. Here townsfolk gathered together, in memoriam. ‌and is being passed to another generation The main ceremony over, children from the Pomona Early Childhood Centre took their turn, each wearing a yellow safety vest and, holding hands, appearing as segments in a giant caterpillar as they made their way to the memorial. In the days prior, children and senior toddlers made their own wreath of recycled cardboard after being taught the meaning of poppies for remembrance. Thus, the tradition of remembrance is passed to a new generation. Read the story about WW1 information panels donated to the Noosa Shire Museum, page 4.
