MARIE Vat was a long-time local of Cooroy and one of her favourite events was the lighting of the Ri-con Cooroy Christmas tree. Marie passed away early this year just 9 short weeks after being diagnosed with Cancer on the same day that Cooroy lit up our tree last year. “Mum loved the event so much that she still attended the tree lighting ceremony even though she’d received such devastating news that very day,” said daughter Anthea Wood. Marie was a vibrant, bright person with flaming red hair who loved to wear bright colours, particularly orange. She passed away at 66 years young and is very much missed by her family. Marie and her husband Tony moved to Cooroy in the early 1980s and they have been very much active at the Cooroy RSL as Tony is an ex-serviceman and was on the board many years ago. Tony and Marie had two daughters, Anthea Wood and Trudie Waite and Marie was a very dedicated family person who brightened up the lives of her loved ones. The family have sponsored a star for Marie as she shone so bright in her life that it is only fitting that she will shine for all of Cooroy on the Christmas tree she loved so much.

Cooroy & Pomona Uniting Church - Best Float in Bendigo Bank Street Parade - Noah's Ark ANOTHER successful Christmas in Cooroy has been enjoyed by over 15000 people partaking in the cornucopia of Christmas activities over the weekend. Friday night kicked off with the official turning on of the beautiful Ri-con Christmas tree which looks even more spectacular than ever before. Special stars on the tree have been dedicated to loved ones that are no longer with us and their stories are on the wall adjacent to the tree. The carols by The Cherry Ripes added a lovely touch to the night and everyone enjoyed a bit of unseasonal snow as well! It was truly a magical evening. The QMP Shop Window Trail was also launched on Friday night also with 23 businesses throughout town decorating their window. Visiting the windows is a great way to spend a few hours with the kids and you can vote for your favourite window before 28 December to win a $100 Cooroy Supa IGA Voucher. Saturday kicked off with the Cooroy Fish N Chips Santa Sack Races which really set the scene for the rest of the day with some good old fashioned fun and laughter. Next up was the Noosa to Hinterland Plumbing Group Great Santa Race which was started by Cr Ingrid Jackson and raised funds for the Leukaemia Foundation with about 40 competitors donned in Santa suits racing up the main street of Cooroy. Race winners

were 1st female - Alexandra Blake; 1st male - Aiden Smith; 2nd - Sam Blake; 3rd Brendan Press. Spectators lined the street for the ever popular Bendigo Bank street parade and the floats were of a spectacular standard this year with many commenting it was the best parade in the 12 year history of the event. Forty businesses and community groups participated and “The Movies” theme was a big hit with young and old alike. Cooroy & Pomona Uniting Church took out the Best Float award with the Noah float. It was tough competition according to judges Cr Frank Wilkie and Cr Frank Pardon. “This event is such a brilliant show of community spirit, which is why Bendigo Bank are so happy to be major sponsors. It is just wonderful to see the delight on everyone’s faces and the effort that people put into their floats,” said Cooroy Community Bank Branch of Bendigo Bank Manager, Geoff Edwards. The West Side Traders were ecstatic to take the title of Best Tuggers title in the Hinterland Dental East versus West Tug of War breaking the east side’s four year winnign streak! The free activities kept people entertained all evening with the free Cooroy Rag and Madills Motor Group rides, the CJ Taxation sponsored face painting, the Santa visit sponsored by Gelignite Jacks, the fantastic

entertainment program sponsored by Cooroy Supa IGA, free popcorn from the Leather Doctor and of course the ever popular spectacular fireworks display sponsored by Cooroy RSL. “There is a long list of people to thank for this event including the sponsors, the volunteers, the Christmas in Cooroy committee, Rotary Club of Cooroy, Noosa SES, Cooroy Chamber of Commerce, Cooroy Police and our MCs who all gave up copious amounts of time. It’s the fantastic community spirit that Cooroy has that makes this event so special,” said Cooroy Chamber of Commerce president, Danielle Taylor. IT may still be a week or so away here, but Christmas has arrived early in East Timor. Educational care parcels in the form of the 1,600 shoe boxes collected from Cooroy, Tewantin, Coolum and Pacific Paradise State Schools left in June and were shipped to Timor Leste. Thanks to a collective and determined community effort, the educational parcels were distributed at Sao Miguel (St. Michael) at Raikotu a few weeks ago. It’s a school about 30 minutes west of Dili and thousands of students were waiting eagerly to receive one. Photos of the distribution will be shown at Cooroy State School assembly. The school officially has 150 kindergarten students, 250 of primary age and some 200 junior high school kids, but the surrounding area of need stretches to include hundreds more. With the help of the Community Bank branches of Bendigo Bank in Cooroy, Marcoola and Tewantin and the Rotary

Clubs of Noosa and Cooroy the school was identified as a community school with no help from the ministry of education in Timor. Each parcel took the form of a decorated shoe box with enclosed items including exercise books, rulers, erasers, pens and pencils, all topped off with a personal item from each student from the three state schools to the child opening it at the other end. Bendigo Bank and Rotary shared the shipment costs because both organisations saw an opportunity to support a cause that would instil a sense of responsibility into each student who compiled these special gifts. Cooroy State School deputy principal, Kathryn Cook says learning of the arrival of the shoe boxes has brought an emotional reaction from his students. To the hundreds of students who got involved at the school, the spirit of the project has really hit home in anticipation of seeing the presentation of the shoe boxes arriving. “The students and our

Sao Miguel school children received their educational care packages school all have a real connection to this project. They had a ball putting the care parcels together and it’s great to see the collective efforts of the kids, their families and the teams at Bendigo Bank put those shoe boxes into the hands of the kids who need them most,’’ Mrs. Cook said. “It’s great to see their thoughtfulness come full circle and we’re excited and proud to have been part of it all again this year. Every shoe box was personally

decorated and had educational items to further the education of a child less fortunate than themselves. Each student also enclosed something small of theirs such as a soft toy or tennis ball. It added something simple but personal to each box,” she added. Pam Hoens from the Cooroy Community Bank agreed and said she feels the project continues to build on something special. “Our Community Banks are all about giving back

We’re delighted to continue our collaboration with Rotary and I’m looking forward to watching some of the kids recognise their shoe box in the photos. Happy Christmas! I’m tired of being lectured about what a financial year it’s been, And watching our political experts ruin the political scene. I’ve spent the year wondering what they’ll get up to next, What good political idea has been most officially wrecked. I’ve shaken my head in amazement at the latest screamer, And suffered minor shock, at some incredible misdemeanour. But I refuse to let them destroy our Christmas celebration, That would be the inexcusable devastation. So the Rag sends best wishes from all of us here, For a joyous Christmas and a Happy New Year. May your day be spent in love, laughter and fun, And may the blessing of Christmas embrace everyone.

WELL, how amazing was Christmas in Cooroy this year? Our wonderful community event just seems to get better and better every year and our Community Bank branch loves being part of it. Christmas means different things to different people in our community depending on your beliefs, but one beautiful part of Christmas is spending time with family and friends and giving gifts to others. Our beaches and parks are usually packed with families enjoying the day swimming and playing games on the beach or in a local park. Our homes are generally bursting at the seams with food, family and friends. But Christmas can also be a stressful time for families. Especially given the ongoing economic climate means a lot of families may be unable to find those extra dollars to participate in the celebration of Christmas. As I mentioned in my last column, one way to plan ahead for Christmas and the extra financial pressure it brings is to open up a Christmas Club account with your Community Bank branch. A Christmas Club account is typically an interest bearing passbook account with no or low fees, that you are able to deposit into during the year but can’t withdraw from until a set period. This set withdrawal period is usually November 1 to January 31, so you catch those post-Christmas sales. You can arrange a transfer from your savings account or even from your pay office into the Christmas Club account and that way it is like a forced savings. Set down a budget of how

much you think you can put aside each pay day, it does not have to be large, but it does have to be a realistic amount, because if you need to withdraw the funds usually a penalty fee will be applied to the account. Why not ask you bank for a Christmas Club account and start early for next year’s celebrations? So in closing, on behalf of all our team here I wish you and all your loved ones a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year. If you have any questions about opening a Christmas Club account or would like to discuss any other banking matter, please contact me on 5447 7131 or on email at geoff.edwards@bendigoadelaide.com.au. COOROY RAG

Choosing super for school leavers Chad Monroe Certified Financial Planner® of Provision Wealth Management* Your first job also means your first super account and it’s important to choose wisely. You can almost hear the sighs of relief of thousands of Australian teenagers, who have recently completed their final Year 12 exams. It’s quite a milestone, and while some school leavers will step straight into full time work, many will take up casual or part-time jobs until uni or TAFE kicks off in 2017. It’s an exciting time, but it also brings adult responsibilities – like choosing a super fund. Young workers are vulnerable to being ripped off. So the first step is to know your rights. If you are aged 18 or over and you earn more than $450 in a month in before-tax wages, you’re entitled to employer-paid super contributions worth 9.5% of ordinary (not overtime) earnings. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a full time, part time or casual worker, you’re still eligible for these compulsory super payments. Workers aged under 18 can be eligible to receive super contributions though in addition to earning over

$450 per month you will need to work more than 30 hours each week. The next step is to choose a super fund. One option is to go with your employer’s ‘default fund’. This is a super fund the boss has chosen, and while it may be the easy path, it may not be the best fund for you. It may seem like a hassle but it’s worth nominating a super fund of your own choosing. Our super system is awash with over $14 billion worth of lost and forgotten super savings – much of it the result of casual or part-time workers losing track of their super. Selecting your own fund increases the odds of staying in touch with your super throughout a working life. There are two main types of fund to select from – retail and industry funds. Many industry funds operate on a non-profit basis, so the annual fees are low. Retail funds on the other hand, tend to offer a broader range of investment options. Both have their merits. The main point is to take a look at the different options available. The government’s MoneySmart

website offers plenty of pointers on what to consider when weighing up different funds. The most important thing is to record the details of your super fund and your account number. This lets you notify new employers of your super fund so your super can go with you when you change jobs. Don’t forget to notify the fund if you change your address, so you can track your super all the way through a long and varied career. It’s also not a bad idea to consider whether you need the insurance cover offered by your fund – at least until you’re a bit more established in life. Young workers can easily lose 100% of their early super savings to insurance premiums. But once you’re more established and have financial commitments and dependants, it might be a good time to reconsider your insurance needs. COOROY RAG Probus Club of Cooroy WHAT a year we have had? The Probus Club of Cooroy has enjoyed another fun filled year. Interesting outings to places like Caloundra Air Museum, Cherbourg and Bundaberg, wonderful dinners and coffee mornings supporting the local restaurants all kept us socially engaged. The extra inches gained were eroded away with games of croquet, lawn bowls and walks along the beautiful Noosa River. Our end of year Christmas luncheon was an amazing feat of collaborative catering with ‘ master chef’ John Pluck leading the pack to produce an excellent Christmas feast - one the local businesses would find hard to match at the price. Anyone interested in joining our local Probus Club should ring John on 5485 0415. Visitors are always welcome to our meetings held on the first Monday of each month in the Anglican Church Hall, Miva Street, Cooroy.

George Kootofa presenting a rose to all the lady members at the Christmas luncheon of the Cooroy Probus Club.

Cooroy Chamber celebrates another productive year ABOUT 50 members of the Cooroy Chamber of Commerce got together for their Christmas Party last night at the Cooroy Golf Club with catering by Jackie Zipf. Anne Winning, volunteer in police was awarded a Community Service Award for her work in the community this year and all the Christmas in Cooroy sponsors and volunteers were acknowledged. A voucher from Bold As Love Jewellers was awarded for most Christmas in Cooroy raffle tickets sold which was given to Carol Christensen from Belvedere Newsagency. Special thank you gifts from Cooroy SUPA IGA were also given to volunteers that went beyond the call of duty including David Manktelow from Mower & ATV Solutions, David Lafferty from Cooroy Community Bank Branch of Bendigo Bank, Seb, Tracy, Monique & Alex Vecchio from CJ Taxation Services, Andy & Nova Flitter from Our Town Apps, Lynda Sandford from WS Waterproofing and Danielle Taylor from Firefly Solutions (a gift certificate from Lakeridge Health & Beauty Cooroy).

Christmas Gifts and Parties by Seb Vecchio (principal of CJ Taxation services) I thought it might be beneficial to revisit some ATO rules when it comes to xmas parties and gifts The discussion below is a brief summary. As with the all things to do with the ATO, nothing is simple – even xmas parties and gifts….if you require further information please feel free to contact this office. Christmas gifts Non-entertainment Christmas gifts for example, a Christmas hamper, a bottle of whisky or wine, gift vouchers, a bottle of perfume, flowers, a pen set, etc

Gifts which are considered to be entertainment for example, tickets to attend a theatre, live play, sporting event, movie or the like, a holiday airline ticket, or an admission ticket to an amusement centre

Christmas Parties Christmas parties at restaurant or other venue (food, drinks etc)

Christmas parties at employers premises (food, drinks etc)

As mentioned earlier, the above is a brief discussion of an often confusing subject. If you require a more detailed explanation please contact your accountant. Hopefully the above doesn’t dissuade you from celebrating!!!!! As this year draws to a fast close we at CJ Taxation Services wish everyone a safe and Merry Christmas and as someone once said The greatest gift our clients can give, is the referral of friends, family and colleagues. If you need further clarification talk to your accountant or contact us on 5442 6679.

Wishing all a Heartfelt Merry Christmas!

Cooroy Kindy celebrates their new play area COOROY Community Kindergarten had some generous visitors last week. Over the years, the Cooroy Community Bank Branch of Bendigo Bank has worked with the kindy on small improvement projects designed to make time there even more enjoyable for the kids. From new recycling systems, a compost tumbler and frog pond, the sponsored projects have helped the children discover how to support our environment. Last Tuesday, there was a celebration to mark the latest addition – a new playground right under their much-loved mango tree. The kindy is a nature and play based centre and we all know children love to climb, so it seemed a perfect partnership to marry the beautiful mango tree with a soft fall area under the tree as part of the kid’s playground. Treasurer and Fundraising Coordinator,

Michelle Byers said the five cubic metres of soft fall bark chips is a great improvement on the old crash mats that used to be in place to protect the kids. “With the help of the Bendigo Bank grant and our fundraising we have been able to bring in Tim and Craig from Craig Bundfuss Fencing and Landscaping. They’ve done a great job resurrecting the area. Once the children saw the newly landscaped corner they were all flocking to be part of the new space. It’s really added to our wonderful outside learning program. “We’ve really come to appreciate our sponsorship from our Cooroy Community Bank because it allows us to plan for projects above and beyond what we could normally budget for. The support has seen us get involved in sustainable projects that celebrate our environment and get the children learning about them too,” Michelle shared.

We all need a buddy THE recently Installed Buddy Bench at the Cooroy Kindy is an initiative that helps give the children a safe calm place to go to when they are feeling sad or left out or just time to think. The other children look out for one another and are encouraged to try and cheer each other up and play together. The children have responded really well to this. The children fundraised for the buddy bench with an obstacle course earlier in the year. A big thank you goes out to The Bee Man (Charlie Hacker) for sanding, undercoating and painting the bench. The paint design is by 4 Year Kindy student Amerie Hilliard. Rainbows always make you feel happy and the leaves falling and blowing in the breeze make you feel calm like when you are looking up at a tree. Thanks Rockin Relics in Pomona for donating the ac-

Eco-accredited business hub set to reinvigorate Eumundi

AFTER more than two years of planning, development applications are about to be submitted to Sunshine Coast Council for Our Village Eumundi – a proposed eco-development encompassing the Highway Motors and Butter Factory sites on Memorial Drive, the old railway corridor, and the dwellings on Cook Street in Eumundi. A Development Application for Stage One and a Development Application for Preliminary Approval for Stage Two has been submitted. Our Village Eumundi is the combined vision of the Formosa family team, Louis and Janet Formosa and their two daughters Jenny and Louise Formosa, who are the long term owners and operators of the very successful Eumundi Parkside and Eumundi Square. Project Consultant Louise Formosa sees this development as a social focal point for the town connecting the community and engaging them both culturally and environmentally. “Stage One of Our Village Eumundi concentrates on reinvigorating the Highway Motors building, taking care that the development is sympathetic to the natural topography of the site and

the heritage of the existing buildings and corridor,” said Ms Formosa. “The development incorporates a social ‘piazza’ area where locals and visitors alike can enjoy a coffee, buy their locally-sourced and organic produce, visit complementary businesses such as professional advisors and health and wellbeing practitioners or simply enjoy some ‘up-cycled’ retail therapy.” Louise Formosa said the hub will incorporate environmental best practice standards such as the OSCA waste composting system, underground water storage and permaculture features. “We are setting some ambitious but achievable sustainability targets including operating ‘off the grid’ within 10 years as a result of solar energy,” said Ms Formosa. “We also intend to reduce mains water usage by 25 per cent in five years and are working towards having Stage One of Our Village depositing just 10 per cent of its waste into landfill within this timeframe.” “Environmental values really are at the heart of this development and we’re dedicated to preserving the Eumundi way of life, and catering for local needs while raising the bar in ecotourism.”

Fatalities possible for grey headed flying-fox young

A healthy young grey-headed flying-fox. A recent spate of young flying-fox deaths on the eastern seaboard is of concern ANYONE who comes across dead greyheaded flying-fox young are urged to contact the RSPCA hotline. Dead flying-fox young have been found along the coast from Victoria to Queensland over the past few weeks, due to starvation from dwindling habitat and an acute food shortage. According to prominent flying-fox experts, the recent strong El Nino weather pattern may also be a contributing factor to the deaths. Noosa Council’s flying-fox management officer, Tyron de Kauwe commented: “We are keeping a close eye on our populations and working closely with carers, other councils and the state government (DEHP) to monitor the progress of this event. “Dead flying-fox young have been

found in nearby areas but it appears that Noosa Shire’s coastal camps have not yet been affected.” Grey-headed flying-foxes are listed as a threatened species with declining populations. Starving young flying-foxes lose the strength to hold onto their mothers, which produce less milk when food supplies are scarce. If any member of the public finds a young flyingfox in distress, please call the RSPCA hotline on 1300 ANIMAL (1300 264 625) or call a local bat rescue group on 5485 3393 or 5441 6200, and the nearest trained and registered carer will be directed to them. Please do not try to handle flying-foxes under any circumstance. If scratched or bitten, please seek medical advice immediately.

news Pint-sized possum’s library adventure

COOROY RAG

A BABY possum camped out between the books in Cooroy Library’s junior fiction section gave staff a surprise last week! A staff member, returning some books to the shelves, spotted the possum hiding behind a copy of Ginger the Stray Kitten. Staff suspect the possum snuck in through the doors to the children’s outside area. “We thought it was ironic that Cooroy is known for the possum and we had a super cute one visiting Cooroy Library! It was a hot week, so maybe it was drawn in by the cool or just wanted a quick read,” says Tracey King from the Library. Staff cordoned off the area and called in the Wilvos to rescue the furry visitor. “Terrie from the Wilvos arrived soon after and escorted our little mischief-maker from the building to a local gumtree near the Mill Place creek area,” Ms King said. “Our furry friend proves that libraries are loved by all creatures, great and small.”

Shower power!

pomona Fabienne makes her move

NOT having access to access to facilities for washing and showering is one of the hardest things for homeless people to deal with. The Pomona & District Community house is thrilled to announce that through the goodwill of Unitywater and the Maroochy Neighbourhood Centre Inc. we will have a free mobile shower for the homeless and those in need in our community available from the middle of December and into the New Year. Unitywater have purchased this mobile shower for the Maroochy Neighbourhood Centre, as a ‘roving’ mobile shower to be used throughout the Sunshine Coast Region, and the first port of call will be Pomona. The Community House will partner with Living Hope op shop, Options 4 U, to deliver this fantastic amenity. The shower will be based at Pomona Community House/ Options 4 U. Once installed the shower will be available during Options 4 U hours, Monday – Friday 9.00am – 4.00pm and Saturday 9.00am – midday (these hours may be changed). Joy Cross, president of the Pomona Community House and pastor at the Living Hope church says, “This will be a great contribution to the homeless in our community and I’d like to thank Unitywater and Maroochydore Neighbourhood Centre for making it available.” Fabienne outside her new location in Reserve Street, Pomona

Pomona, Kin Kin and Boreen Point will benefit from new mobile base stations to improve mobile coverage under round 2 of the Liberal Nationals Government’s Mobile Black Spot Program. The extension of the mobile phone network to these areas will improve communications and assist locals, emergency services and visitors to our region. The locations for round 2 of the Mobile Black Spot Program were selected following an appeal to the public to nominate black spots. These locations were entered into the

national map which was provided to mobile network providers to assist them to develop funding applications. These were assessed against the program guidelines by the Department of Communications and the Minister accepted the Department’s recommendations without change. The new base stations in Wide Bay were identified by people in the community who nominated black spot locations. The locations of all of the 266 base stations can be found on the national map at www.nationalmap.gov.au.

optometry@cooroy calls for smarter use of optical benefits IF you rely on a single pair of glasses, they may not be meeting all your vision needs. One pair of glasses usually won’t do it all. While many people believe one pair of glasses can do everything, general purpose eyewear often falls short of providing ideal vision. This year, optometry@cooroy’s latest campaign “Use your Benefits, to your Benefit” urges the local Cooroy community to make smarter eyewear purchases with their optical benefits that complement the different aspects of their life. “While some people will spend their optical benefits for the sake of it, we know our patients want to do better than that.” said Ray from optometry@cooroy. “Our job is to achieve the sharpest vision possible for our patients, and that means recommending tailored eyewear solutions for the various activities in their life.” So what eyewear solutions are available for the various aspects of one’s life? Digital Eyewear: Eye fatigue, blurred vision and headaches are becoming more and more commonplace, as are neck, shoulder and back pain. This is no surprise given that Australians spend an average of 10 hours and 24 minutes on digital devices every day1. A dedicated pair of digital eyewear is recommended for people who spend 2 or more hours in front of digital screens, to help protect the eyes from the strain of their changing visual environment. Prescription Sunglasses: Prescription sunglasses are one of life’s necessities for glasses wearers. Now that there are so many prescriptable frame options available, almost anyone can enjoy the outdoors with superior clarity and protection from damaging UV and glare. With summer just around

the corner, claiming a pair of prescription sunglasses with one’s optical benefits is a smart choice. Contact Lenses: Contact lenses give people the freedom they need when glasses can get in the way. Like for sport, travel, weekends and special occasions. The everyday pair simply doesn’t meet every need. With the latest technologies in contact lenses, even the multifocal wearer can see as clearly at varying distances as they would with glasses. Reading Glasses: Close up activities like reading and computer work can put a strain on the eyes and neck. Progressive glasses (also known as multifocals) can eliminate the need to constantly remove or peer over the top of a pair of glasses. Depending on one’s level of cover, reading glasses are often completely covered by optical benefits. Sports Eyewear: Sports-specific eyewear are designed to protect the eyes from both injury and harmful UV rays. Something an everyday pair is not built to do. Sports eyewear can enhance one’s performance and visual comfort on the field. A smarter way for a sports enthusiast or athlete to spend their optical benefits. These are just some of the ways one can spend their optical benefits, to their benefit, rather than just for the sake of it. optometry@cooroy has been proudly servicing the Cooroy community for many years. The team at optometry@cooroy, with their decades of experience years of collective experience can recommend the smartest eyewear investment for one’s life. optometry@cooroy can be contacted on 5442 5555 and is located at 62 Maple Street, Cooroy.

Discover your energetic pathway JANE Platt is committed to helping you discover your energetic pathway. Holding a Diploma in Counselling and Clinic Hypnotherapy and Reiki and a Certified Practitioner of Hypnoenergetics, Jane says she can help you transform your cellular consciousness, heal from grief and bereavement, release addictions and compulsions and clear the energy of depression or anxiety. Jane said that toward the conclusion of her counselling diploma she asked herself “What life experiences and knowledge can I bring to the people?” “I had five years of personal psycho analysis after behaviours were manifesting in my life as a result of quite a traumatic childhood. But having done the work years before and recovered, I wanted to bring something more personal,” said Jane. I have a 32 year old daughter on the Autism Spectrum and until recently the Jane Platt Family and Autism support was my passion along with working with traumatised children and young people. I have since discovered energy healing modalities. Counselling has encouraged me to become more congruent, empathic, attentive, understanding and supportive, alongside my 55 years

of life experience. The word “healer” seems to imply the I am the healer. I am simply the facilitator of the universal life force for a client. “I am a channel or vessel through which the energy of unconditional love comes through. Reiki is a pure energy source, so it radiates at a high frequency. Thus it does not lend to the thought of separation or duality, for it is the source, the essence of everything. “The facilitator does not need to analyse or direct the healing but merely allow it to unfold naturally. “Imbalances within our bodies can come into our reality through different channels, such as our words, thoughts and actions, the way we either nurture or harm our bodies, incoherence with mind and heart, toxic emotions carried within. “It is import that we allow our mind to take a back seat during Reiki sessions and just allow our intuition to guide. As your facilitator, we will build an energy rapport together for deep and significant personal transformation that comes within the confidential and supported environment,” says Jane. For more information you can contact Jane at Healing Energy Pathways at Life Enhancing, 48 Elm Street, Cooroy on 5472 0808.

What’s Your Real Age? UNLIKE your chronological age (the number of years you’ve been on the planet), there is a test available that determines your body’s actual biological age. The test measures a range of aspects such as total body water, fat mass, lean mass, weight, cellular health, body composition, fluid distribution, cell membrane performance, skeletal tissue and active tissue mass. It is through assessment of these types of parameters that your biological age is determined. Naturopath, Maria from ‘Make A Difference Health & Fitness’ is one of a select group of Healthcare Professionals who has received extensive training in maximising healthy ageing and

improving vitality, making her ideally suited to help you achieve your goals. She uses a ‘Body Composition Analysis’ test, which assists her to design a program specifically for your needs. Bed 3; Bath 1; Car 11; 132 acres; Offers over $1,295,000. Offers over $1,295,000 How rare is this property? Very! As it hasn’t been offered to the market since 1970 and, once you inspect, you’ll understand why! aybe it’s the 132.8 acres of prime land; maybe it’s those mind-blowing views that stretch from Mt Cooroora to the Mary Valley and beyond, or maybe it’s the thought of land banking with possible future subdivisions. Or perhaps it’s the thought of having your own peaceful, private sanctuary, still within easy reach of shops, schools, restaurants and the coast. This magnificent property is truly a one-off, and offers many possibilities for the lucky buyer.

North east-facing, and 600ft above sea level, enjoy your own private 4WD driving tracks, hiking and riding paths, with direct access into the National Park. There are five cleared paddocks for cattle or horses, with steel post / timber rail yards; established fruit trees, including nectarine, Bowen mango, grapes, bananas plus a passionfruit vine, and no shortage of water with 14 dams! There is also an excellent investment here, with $30,000 to $40,000 of future millable timber and power poles onsite. You have the choice of living in the original homestead - an immaculate 3bedroom cottage - or choosing one of the many wonderful home sites, all delivering those breathtaking views.

The flat land is suitable for RVs, or even bush cabins or cottages for tourism (subject to approval) so there are plenty of moneymaking options here. Rounding off the list of inclusions are two large sheds, housing up to 11 vehicles and/or a mix of farm machinery and tractors. Yet you are just 5 minutes from the Bruce Highway for easy access north and south. And remember, with a change to the current Noosa Council zoning and usage plan, future subdivision possibilities could be a substantial earner. 2016 has been an interesting year for the Lake Macdonald Club. The club which has been rowing on the Lake and for seven years upgraded it’s facilities in Collwood Road in February. The expanded storage space and new rowing equipment purchased during the year has enabled the Club to grow membership through the learn to row program. The club enjoyed success at Regatta’s during the year including the National Masters Championships in Kawana and the Pan Pacific Games on the Gold Coast.

www.cooroyrag.com.au

One dark cloud appeared over the Lake based Club in August when the boat trailer was stolen. With local community support, social media efforts and the efforts of the Police the trailer with some “modifications for camping” was recovered and returned to the Club. This enabled the Club to attend Regatta’s as planned and most importantly take part in the Cooroy Christmas Parade again this year. As appreciation to the Cooroy Rag and overall community support in recovering the boat trailer Lake Macdonald Rowing

Club would like to offer 3 places on the 2017 learn to row program. These are valued at $150 per person. Run by the Club’s trained coaches they are designed to appeal to those interested in learning to row for recreation and fitness. If you are interested in taking one of these places please contact Learn to row at Lake Macdonald Rowing Club by email at lakemacrowing@gmail.com We require your name email address and telephone and a brief outline as to why you would like to learn to row.
