Pool player chosen to play in prestigious national competition COOROY local and avid pool player, Frank Davis, has been selected to represent South Queensland in the Australian National Blackball Championships. Frank, who organises and runs the Social Pool Competition at the Cooroy Hotel on Wednesday nights, will head to Ipswich from April 2 to 9, to compete in the Disability Category. “This is a great opportunity for me to be the first Queenslander to win an Australian title in this category."
Since moving to Cooroy 25 years ago, Frank has been a member, player and president of the Cooroy Pool Club 8-Ball Association. He has represented both Cooroy and Gympie in representative 8-Ball Tournaments all over Southeast Queensland. “In 2015, I won the C Grade Queensland State Title, and last year, I was runner up in the B Grade Queensland State Championships.” Frank said there are some considerable expenses as-

EDEN Private Hospital was impacted by the supercell weather event that dumped 110mm of rain on Cooroy in the first week of February. Water inundated some parts of the hospital, but Eden Private Hospital management acted swiftly to assess the situation and mitigate any risk, working in partnership with other services including the Queensland Health Service and Queensland Ambulance
Service, to safely transfer all patients to alternate nearby hospitals, in accordance with its hospital emergency response plan. A hospital spokesperson said management is actively working to rectify the damage caused by the supercell in order to reopen the hospital and resume operations. “Eden Private Hospital will continue to work with public and private healthcare providers, for the transfer of
patients back to Eden Private once repairs to areas impacted are assessed and repairs are complete. “The safety and care of all patients is paramount and has not been compromised.” The supercell weather event caused severe thunderstorms, heavy rain and power outages to more than 11,000 homes across South East Queensland, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.
Timber seats get a new lease of life COOROY residents were pleased to see recent repairs to public seating about town, with special attention paid to replacing rotting sections of timber in the seats adjacent to the water fountain outside
the Bloomhill Op-shop in Maple Street. Now, Noosa Council has announced it's Pomona's turn, where the distinctive leaf-shape public seating (above) is a little worse for wear. "Council staff are work-
ing with the artist of these seats on a management plan, with some work expected to commence early in 2022," said Bryan O'Connor, Asset Planning Manager, Infrastructure Services.
