The well-known face in the Cooroy store is moving into a new role in the company.
Robbo said he will be working in store development and inventory.
“My home base will be the Nambour store, when I’m not off doing other things.”
Robbo has been at the Cooroy store for two and a half years.
“This is my second stint here. Cooroy is a wonderful town, with lots of loyalty.”
Robbo said Covid really cemented customers’ loyalty to their “little hardware store”.
“Covid brought the loyalty back into the town. During Covid, customers realised that our store is equal to anyone else, just a little smaller but can they access anything they want. So business is thriving.”
The Gympie resident has been with Mitre 10 for 25 years, and while he won’t be around the Cooroy store anymore, he will still be around Cooroy on occasion.
“I have a lot of friends in town.”
Replacing Robbo as store manager is Tony Northey.
Tony first worked with Robbo in Buderim in 2010, and then was his secondin-command at the Kunda Park store in 2019. While Robbo said he didn’t have the final say, he did suggest Tony be his replacement at Cooroy.
Tony said he is excited to be working in the Cooroy store. "Cooroy is a lovely town and has the best staff in the company. I’m pretty excited.”
Tony, who has been with the company for 12 years, has been a manager at the new Nambour store for the past six months.
After working with Robbo for many years, Tony said he knows how he operates and is looking forward to a smooth transition. “My way is very compatible.”
Tony’s first day is on Tuesday, May 3, so make sure you drop in and say hi and welcome him to Cooroy.
Mitre 10's Robbo McInnes, left, is taking on a new job within the group with Tony Northey, right, to be Cooroy's manager.
WORD ON THE STREET
THERE was a rumour going around that Aldi was planning to open a store in Cooroy.
Word on the street was that they were looking at opening one of their supermarkets near Holts Road.
After we heard the rumour, Cooroy Rag investigated further and it is understood that Aldi has no current plans to open a store in the Cooroy area.
