Kenilworth kicks into showtime

The 99th Kenilworth Show & Rodeo will be held at the Kenilworth Showgrounds on Saturday 15th September 2018.

Two rings of horse events plus show jumping start at 8.00am. The NRA Allround Rodeo commences at 10.00am with bull riding, saddle bronc, team roping, barrels and the poddy rides to name a few.

This year during the lunch break of the rodeo there will be a dog jumping competition in the rodeo arena. Prize money totalling $200 is up for grabs. Nominate on the day.

The wood chop also commences at 10.00 am and includes displays of chainsaw post ripping.

Kids are looked after with the sideshow alley. This year Skyfall Silks will be sharing the

ultimate interactive aerial circus experience for children and adults of all ages. And don’t miss the thrill of the dodgem cars, giant slide, climbing wall, jumping castle, cup and saucer plus the clowns.

When you have checked out the stall holders on display and the pavilion entries wander down to the canteen where throughout the day there will be hot food and cold drinks available. The bar operates from 10.00 am to 10.00pm. Night time entertainment includes raffles, Laser Light Display at 7.15pm and entertainment by “Audible Lines” playing from 5.00pm onwards. Canteen will be open for dinner also.

Spring spirit benefits Christmas in Cooroy THE Cooroy Landscape Supplies Spring Fair was an awesome event to kick off Spring and it was fantastic to see so many local businesses getting together in a home and garden extravaganza! The benefits will be seen right through to December with $1000 raised for Christmas in Cooroy. Kelly & Myles donated their pizza profits and Mower & ATV Solutions, Cooroy Landscape Supplies, The Shed Company, NativesRUs Nursery, Cooroy Coffee Roasters & Poolwerx kicked in prizes for a raffle which together raised $537 plus another $430 was raised from Christmas in Cooroy volunteers selling raffle tickets in the Christmas in Cooroy raffle!

These funds will go towards the decorating of Cooroy and the Christmas in Cooroy event on 1 December. It is only due to the generosity of local businesses and community groups that Christmas in Cooroy remains a free festival for all to enjoy!

Overall a wonderfully successful day and a big thanks must go to James & Siona and everyone else who was involved and also to everyone who came and showed their supported!

Over the next few months, Christmas in Cooroy volunteers will be selling raffle tickets outside IGA for the $4,995 Toro Mower donated by Mower & ATV. Grab your tickets if you see them!

CHRISTMAS in Cooroy has become one of the Sunshine Coast’s most popular family events for good reason.

Every year the festival offers astounding free entertainment, rides, and giveaways for everyone.

This year, the tireless team of helper elves that build this wonderful family festival have really outdone themselves and added a new level of fun for all ages!

It is with excitement that we unveil the ‘Bentleys Great Santa Stroll’.

You just need a big smile and your loudest “Ho Ho Ho” and a Santa suit to join the Great Santa Stroll – although the first 50 registrants even get a free suit! The Great Santa Stroll occurs at the finish of the Bendigo Bank Street Parade, and the proud Santas will march up Maple St, spreading joy to all and collecting funds for the Leukaemia Foundation!

Maple Street pedestrian crossing upgrade THE existing pedestrian crossing adjacent to the Cooroy Memorial Hall is being upgraded to a raised pedestrian crossing. Works are expected to be completed by September 21st weather permitting. Civil works will be undertaken between 5am and 6pm.

The raised crossing will include a colour treatment to increase visibility of the crossing as well as serve as a traffic calming device.

Traffic will be diverted via Garnet, Wattle and Emerald Streets both day and night for three days to complete the concreting works.

Pedestrian access to local businesses will be maintained with a temporary pedestrian crossing point to facilitate pedestrian movement across Maple Street.

Limited car parking spaces will be operational under the direction of traffic controllers during work hours.

On the 3rd September, Emergency Services were called to a house fire on Musavale Rd, Cooroy in the early hours of the morning.

Upon arrival fire crews were met with the scene of a house totally engulfed by fire which had spread into adjacent bushland and was quickly taking hold up a steep hill.

Several fire units were able to quickly deploy, and utilising water stored in a dam, quickly bring the bushfire under control thus saving other properties from being threatened by a large out of control bushfire. Unfortunately, the dwelling was not able to be saved and it was totally destroyed with only the stumps and roofing iron remaining. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time however it is believed to be linked to the property owner conducting burn offs in close proximity to the house and the fire spreading to the adjacent structure after the fires were left unattended during the night.

Fire Investigators from the Fire Service were in attendance along with the Police Forensic unit with the cause of the fire so far listed as undetermined.

With hotter weather almost

upon us and the coming bushfire season expected to once again represent a heightened fire danger this is a timely reminder to be very aware of the risks that fire represents to your premises and to put measures in place early to prevent such a tragedy from occurring. The Home owner on this occasion had obtained a Permit to Light a fire so was compliant in this regard.

A full list of procedures to best protect you home from the risk of fire can be found on the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services Website so be prepared for the coming fire season and be proactive with protecting your premises.

Crime in Cooroy is generally at a low level however across the Coast the instances of stolen cars continue to be of concern and yes, we have had several cars stolen in the Cooroy area.

In most cases the thieves are looking for easy targets, so they will prowl the streets generally under the cover of darkness looking for easy targets such as unlocked vehicle parked on the street or in driveways with keys left in the ignition.

It still surprises me that people leave their keys in

the ignition of their car obviously thinking “it won’t happen to me.” I can tell you that it does, and it happens far too often for my liking even in Cooroy.

With the introduction of smart key technology offenders are now aware that to steal a late model car they need to steal the key to that vehicle.

This is the other most common method currently being used by car thieves.

Thieves will walk or drive the streets with the intent of identifying a late model high end car parked in driveways or even in a garage and once a target vehicle has been identified offenders will then enter the home through an unlocked door to obtain the car key from inside the house whilst the family within is asleep or otherwise occupied.

Most people simply throw their keys on the bench next to the entry point to their house, so the offender has the easy task of opening an unlocked door and taking the keys.

This method has been used in the Noosa Hinterland and Cooroy areas so can I encourage people to get into the habit of locking all doors especially of a night time and not leaving your car keys in an

obvious place.

Cooroy CBD CCTV Camera system continues to greatly assist police with solving crime and most importantly deterring criminals from entering our lovely town and committing offences.

This system has been in operation just on 18 months now and has assisted police with solving a multitude of offences which include: Serious Assaults, Unlawful use of Motor Vehicles, Break and Enters, Frauds and Stealing offences to name just a view. One such example was where a recidivist repeat offender stole a car in Cairns and drove south and randomly took the Cooroy exit off the Bruce Highway and then once again randomly selected a driveway on his way into Cooroy and stole a wallet from a car parked in a driveway.

The offender then entered the Cooroy CBD and commenced using the stolen debit and credit cards to commit multiple fraudulent purchases before moving to Noosa and then the Caboolture area too.

The card owner did not realise the card had been stolen until the next day when the matter was reported to Cooroy Police

and an investigation commenced. Thanks to CCTV footage an offender was quickly identified and linked to the stolen vehicle which was eventually tracked down back in Cairns where the 44 year old male was arrested and charged with multiple Fraud, Stealing and Burglary offences.

This is just one example of many more crimes that have been solved by these cameras. These cameras were funded from the proceeds of crime (ie: from property confiscated from criminals) and were as a result of police partnering with the community (ie: The Cooroy Chamber of Commerce) to prevent crime in our community. It’s important to note that without the communities support the police find it hard to do their jobs which is why policing in Cooroy is a much better experience than other less proactive communities.

The Cooroy Blue Light Disco has now been in operation for 10 years with the One Hundredth disco to be held on October the 13 th at 6.30pm at the Cooroy State School. We will be having several added attractions with further details on the Cooroy Facebook Page.

The attendance each year keeps on growing as did the plant and raffle sales this year.”

Ceramics. “This was only my second year and it was certainly busier than last year.

Lots of happy people enjoying the sunshine and what we all had to offer”.

“We increased the number of stall holders this year”, said Jill “and provided even more diverse plants and gardening items”.

Plant Fair attendees also took advantage of the gardening info sessions with seats full with ones interested in

sustainability and pollination.

“I was feeling jaded about my garden but I learnt so much it’s renewed my interest” said one attendee at the Pollination Panel presentation.

Over at the Shade House, David Hunter from the Orchid Society had a very interested audience asking lots of questions on how to be successful orchid growers while members of this group demonstrated how

to separate and repot orchids. Sculptor Shane Christensen drew a large audience as he carved a native bee habitat from a felled tree from the Gardens.

Net proceeds from the Plant Fair are redirected back to supporting the Noosa Botanic Gardens.

Cooroora woodcraft show ANYONE with an interest in woodworking will find plenty to see at the Cooroora Woodcraft Show 2018 at the Cooroy Memorial Hall Friday 28th and Saturday 29th of September from 8.30am. There will be lots of activities to watch, with demonstrations throughout both days of woodturning, box-making, carving and other woodworking crafts. Club members will be on hand to answer questions and provide woodworking advice. Kids will be able to try assembling a small box that they can keep to hold that special something. Visitors who enjoy a bit of noise and sawdust can see logs

being milled into beautiful slabs of timber which will be available for purchase along with premilled timber of several varieties.

Country show still showcasing what’s great Simone Flavelle, Senior Branch Manager, Cooroy & Pomona Community Bank Branches A successful community benefits all who live in it.

By supporting our hinterland businesses and events, we enhance the community experience for everyone who lives and work here and those who visit out magic part of the world. One of those events was our annual Noosa Country Show.

We just celebrated the 109th hosting of this great community get-together and it’s still widely recognised as one of the best shows in the regional country show calendar.

The Pomona Showgrounds were a buzz last Friday and Saturday and I’m proud to say our Cooroy and Pomona Community Bank branches have been sponsors for many years. Along with Noosa Council, we see the show as a one of the rare occasions through the year where the hinterland gets to share so much of what’s great.

The great thing about the Noosa Country Show, its president, Cameron Magick and the amazing team of volunteers is that the event is produced to support local businesses by local business owners and community volunteers. It’s a great example of our community supporting and celebrating itself.

So, with the show over for another year, it’s important we keep supporting local businesses wherever we can to keep our profits local.

Food, produce and services, so much of it is right here in the hinterland. It’s no co-incidence this is what we do at all our Community Bank branches across the country.

Eumundi Dragons thank their passionate supporters

Focussing on their well-established reputation of being a community club with plenty of heart and playing in the true spirit of rugby, club president, Doug Toms took time to thank the club faithful and sponsors at their annual general meeting last week.

“Like most clubs, our season began with our sign on day in February and our wonderful committee has really put in the hard yards for us in 2018. I’m really proud of what our club has achieved this season, but watching the improvement of so many of our players has been the greatest reward of all,” Doug said.

“The enthusiasm of our coaches, managers and volunteers has provided so much benefit to our players and we’re very grateful for all they have done,” he added.

Doug also welcomed Cooroy and Pomona Community Bank branches’ Darryl Edmonds and Geoff Edwards, thanking them for their support.

Those sentiments were echoed by Geoff.

“We’re delighted to be on board again, giving kids an opportunity to stay fit, learn more about this great game and have lots of fun at the same time. Let’s hope even more local businesses sign on and get involved in supporting the Dragons next year,” Geoff said.

WELL folks snake season is upon us. With spring here and the weather warming up our cold blooded friends are waking up. So with that in mind I thought it would be a good idea to share some tips and advice with what to do if you have a Snake in or around the house. Probably the most common question I get asked is what to do if you see a snake.

First thing is to stay calm. If you’re accidentally right near it. Stand still. No matter how scared you are. Stand still and wait for it to move away. If it’s a few metres away, then back away slowly. If the snake is outside and you can keep your eye on it or just want me to check the place out to make sure it’s gone, call me and I’ll come and remove it for you.

Snakes inside houses: I get more snake calls for snakes inside houses than anything else. First off is to block the area off if it’s safe to do so. If it’s in a room, then close the door and put a towel under the door so it can’t get out. If it’s an open area watch it from a safe distance (through a window or long way away). Always make sure chil-

dren and pets are removed from the area. This way they’re safe. Then call me and I’ll come and grab it. If you or someone there is bitten always call an Ambulance. Especially if you’re unsure of what you got bitten by.

Put a pressure bandage on straight away but not too tight and sit down and remain calm. Even if it turns out to be something harmless. Always put your life and safety first. Lastly and most importantly. Never interfere or try and do it yourself. Not only is it actually illegal but you’ve just increased your chances of getting bitten by 90%.

So leave it to me. Two people this year have died from Brown snake bites because they tried to do it themselves. So think of your families and loved ones. Leave it to the professionals that’s what we’re here. So there we are. Some basic advice and procedure.

Painting for the farmers

Michael Brennan, Director of the Noosa Regional Gallery, artist Trevor Purvis and two art enthusiasts who visited Trevor’s studio.

LOCAL artist, Trevor Purvis, and his wife Beryl, came up with a novel and generous way of raising funds for the farmers, for drought relief, by committing a percentage

of sales of his paintings from their recent Noosa Open Studios weekend.

The response far exceeded all expectations. In just three days, over 250 art enthusiasts visited their Cooroy studio, a number travelling from interstate and even overseas, to enjoy the remarkable talent of over 60 artists in the Noosa region.

Sales of Trevor’s art, which highlights the variations of colour and topography of the Australian outback, far exceeded all expectations, based on last year’s open studio. As a result, Trevor was delighted to be able to make a donation of over $800.00 to Farm Aid. Certainly a win win situation for both the artist and the farmers.

As an added bonus, Trevor’s workshops are almost fully booked for the next six months.

NOOSA Orchid and Foliage Society will hold its popular annual Spring Show on Friday 14t h (8.30am to 4pm) and Saturday 15th September (8.30am to 2.30pm).

This will be our first show in the newly refurbished Cooroy Memorial Hall which will allow us to display a huge range of blooming orchids. Many of the orchids are grown by our members but exhibitors from other Sunshine Coast Clubs will be well represented.

There will be orchids for sale, specialist growing advice, specialist potting mix, and a range of products needed for growing healthy orchids.

The children decided how to use the money to show kindness and with whom they shared their kind deed ... it was completely up to them!

The children surprised and delighted many locals with their kind deeds. Some used the money to buy treats and supplies, others bought ingredients and materials to make their gifts. All ideas were thoughtful, sweet and heartfelt.

ARTIST Alan Falls has a solo exhibition in the Carriage Room, Pomona Railway Station Gallery until 10 October.

Visitors are welcome to come to the gallery to view and discuss Alan’s work and techniques. He will endeavour to be available from 10am to 12 most days. It would be best to call the gallery if you are making a special trip.

A couple of years ago Alan found himself without a studio, as no doubt happens to many artists throughout their careers.

He had up until then been accustomed

to a 12 by 6 metre shed with a bed in one corner and kitchen in another, the rest was studio space, for most artists ideal. He was in search of a new way to work. The Australian artist Imants Tillers came to mind.

Tillers is an artist who works on small panels to create very large pieces.

With this renowned artist as inspiration and borrowing from techniques used by many street artists Alan has developed a process suiting his living situation, artwork style and interests.

ON Saturday, 25 August 2018 three Geeks from Cooran State School’s Senior Coding Team challenged the best at Chancellor State School’s Lunar Challenge.

The team was comprised of Indi Kowalcyzk, Luke Facer and Zet Duffy.

The coding challenges before the trio were “blind” challenges and the students were given a two-hour time frame to design and build a suitable EV3 Robot and code the solutions to as many challenge tables as possible.

The Team managed to code the solutions to 8 out of the ten tables! They were one of only two teams to code Baker Mountain and came

away with the victory!

The Geeks of Cooran have had numerous successes throughout 2018. They have entered several Sumo Challenges across the South East Region and have placed in the finals on each occasion.

They have another tournament at Maryborough State High on 15 September so watch this space for more victories from the Cooran State School Geeks and the Cooran State School Senior Geeks.

We are also coordinating our own Sumo Competition, which will be held at the School on 27 October 2018.

Pain alleviation the natural way LIVING with chronic pain is no easy journey. A little on ear ache, ear wax, swimmers ear treatment and ear care Our ears are one of the most important parts of our body, and have two important roles; they are our organ of hearing and balance. The lining of the ear canal is coated with wax, a type of lubrication that stops the tissues from drying out.

Some of the more common ear conditions we see in the pharmacy include: Otitis Media - An inflammation or infection of the middle ear especially common in young children Symptoms include: Ear pain; Reduced hearing; Discharge from ear; Fever; Vomiting; Irritability (infants may be unsettled, wake at night, rub their ears, have diarrhoea, lose their appetite).

Ear Wax - Wax build up in the outer ear is one of the most common causes of temporary hearing loss. ·Symptoms include: Ear discomfort; A feeling that ear is blocked or full; Noise in ears (tinnitus); Reduced hearing.

Otitis Externa - An inflammation or infection of the outer ear canal.

Symptoms include: Irritated, itchy ear; Ear pain, often made worse by movements such as chewing; Discharge from ear (may be smelly); Feeling of fullness in ear; Reduced hearing.

There are many different treatment options depending on your specific ear condition. Some of these may include: Pain relieving medicines; Ear drops to soften wax, decrease inflammation and clear infection; Antibiotics as prescribed by your GP; Grommets—tiny drainage tubes inserted through the ear drum by your GP; Ear syringing—done by a doctor; Decongestant nasal sprays/tablets—these medications can help to relieve pressure in the ear and thus decrease pain—especially useful for patients having to use air travel while suffering with an

ear condition. So I’m sure you’re wondering by now what YOU can do to look after your ears at home … here are a few of the lifestyle hints we like to share with our patients: Shake water from ears after swimming and bathing; Use drying, antiseptic ear drops after swimming and bathing to prevent otitis externa; If you scuba dive, learn and practise proper underwater techniques to avoid potentially damaging changes in pressure inside your ears; When flying in an airplane, swallow and yawn frequently when the plane is ascending and descending to equalize pressure in your ears. If you have an upper respiratory problem such as a cold or sinus infection, take a decongestant a few hours before descending, or use a decongestant spray just prior to descent and on landing; Use water-repelling ear plugs during swimming and bathing; A warm pack or cold pack can help to relieve the ear pain; Decongestants may help prevent ear pain when flying soon after an ear infection; Do not poke anything into the ear canal to remove a foreign body - it is best to consult a doctor for removal; Take children with ear ache to a doctor as soon as possible; If you have recently had a discharge from your ears or an ear infection, or have had a burst eardrum in the past, get a pharmacist/doctor to check your eardrum before using ear drops.

Consult a doctor if any of the following occurs with an ear problem: Pain lasting more than 24 hours; Fever, dizziness, stiff neck; Discharge; Hearing loss or ringing in the ears; Balance problems.

If you have pierced ears, clean your earrings and earlobes regularly with rubbing alcohol.

real estate Conveyancing - finally in the 21st Century It has taken some time but the transaction for the transfer of real property is being brought into the digital age. E-conveyancing has been talked about for what seems like decades but is finally a reality. PEXA (Property Exchange Australia) is the first established online property exchange network up and running and there are likely to be more in the future.

The system is limited to lawyers and financial institutions who are registered with PEXA so that security is maintained. These registered parties will now be able to lodge documents and complete financial settlements electronically with the secure online system rather than use the historical manual paper based system.

So, how does it work? In simple terms, all parties to a transaction (seller, outgoing bank, buyer and incoming bank) can log into a secure location on the PEXA platform. The parties solicitors enter all the details of the property (address and title particulars, names of parties, price and who cheques are to be made to etc) into PEXA. All parties get the opportunity to check the details and sign off confirming they are in order.

Once everything is agreed and the appointed settlement time occurs then the Titles Office immediately processes the transfer into the buyer’s name and the banks simultaneously make and receive payment.

The main benefit of using PEXA is that the process is so much faster with real time lodgement and settlements. There is no longer a need to wait for cheques to clear (which can be 3 days or more) as everything is now done as one electronic transaction. Settlement money is deposited straight into the sellers account - usually within 30 minutes.

While there is a small cost, it is likely that PEXA will be comparable in price or even less expensive as it doesn’t need to incur the costs of pre-settlement title check, postal charges, courier, cheque and settlement agent expenses.

OVER 150 riders participated in endurance rides at Stirling’s Crossing Equestrian Complex last weekend including a remarkable fiveyear-old who completed her first 40km ride, continuing a long family history of endurance over a number of decades.

Riders set off on Saturday and Sunday on rides ranging from 40km to 160km and including two international rides accredited by the Fédération Équestre Internationale (FEI) ¯ the body responsible for governing equestrian sport internationally.

Taking home the top international honours was local rider Akhmed Pshunov who took the title in both the FEI 120km ride on Saturday and just came in ahead of Kenilworth local Brook Sample in a gallop finish in the FEI 80km ride on Sunday.

Matthew Sample, owner of Stirling’s Crossing Equestrian Complex which hosted the event, said despite the weekend bringing the first rain the complex and forestry had seen in months, the weekend was a great success and congratulated all of those who completed the rides.

The Tom Quilty Gold Cup will be hosted at the Stirling’s Crossing Equestrian Complex from 1115 July 2019.

Cutters Corner A grand final place was on offer when the Cutters made the trip to Beachmere to play the minor premiers on their home turf in week one of the finals. After a delayed start it was the Cutters who came out hard & Luke Martin scored after some great lead up work by Nathan Roon & Jake Scanlan. A bit of luck led to Beachmere crossing but the try wasn’t converted leaving the score 6-4 in favour of the boys from Pomona & Cooran. After some bone crunching defence it was Dylan Crawford-Window who crossed next but the conversion was unsuccessful. It was end to end stuff before Jake Scanlan crossed under the posts to take the score to 16-4 inside 20 minutes. A controversial decision not to award a try to Riley Lourigan allowed the home to cross right on half time to leave the score 16-10 at the break.

neither team giving an inch. A try by Beachmere was converted leaving the score at 16 all. This was the score for the majority of the 2nd half despite Beachmere being camped inside the Cutters half for the last stanza. A field goal with 10 minutes left by Beachmere made the score 17-16, a deficit the Cutters couldn’t reel in. This result took Beachmere directly into the Grand Final while the Cutters took on Kilcoy at Beerwah for the other spot.

Each team knew what was on the line on a cracking first day of spring. Kilcoy has their supporters cheering early with a 70 metre

try displaying how dangerous their back 3 can be. Jim Johnstone crossed several minutes later to take the score to 6-4 before some uncharacteristic mistakes saw Kilcoy cross again leaving the score at 10-4. Some poor handling by the Yowies saw Jim cross again after some slick backline passing. The try was converted by Jonah Hoggets. Just minutes later cult hero Cody Mairu crossed out wide with the conversion falling just short.

With the score 14-10 the Cutters way some poor discipline allowed Kilcoy to hit back with a converted try taking the score to 16-14 at halftime. After the break

it was the younger members of the team stepping up with Jake Bullen crossing inside 2 minutes before Lachlan Proctor stepped up & converted from a difficult position. With either team looking like blowing this game apart it was Kilcoy crossing soon after to take it 20 all. With the loser bowing out for the year neither team was taking a backward step. With several minutes to go Kilcoy received a penalty in front which he calmly kicked taking the score to 22-20. From the ensuing kick off Kilcoy scored an opportunists try out wide. With everything riding on the conversion, the footy gods

were on the Cutters side with the kick missing to the left. With only 3 minutes to go & great field position it was that man again Jim Johnston who scored his 3rd try leaving Cody Mairu a kick to tie the game once again. His kick never looked like missing as this game was going to golden point. A forward pass coming out of their end put the Cutters on the back foot but Kilcoy knocked on before they could take full advantage. After a penalty which took them inside Kilcoy’s half Luke Martin had a shot at field goal which didn’t go dead but in a play which sums up the year of this team Riley Lourigan was able to pressure the winger enough to force a knock on & in a race to put a hand on it the first hand in it belonged to Riley.

Emotional scenes followed as the team who didn’t win a game last year were now one game from premiership glory!

Sweet Salmon ½ lime (35g) juice and grated zest 1 Tbsp (25g) raw honey 2 x 150g salmon steaks Combine the lime juice, a little zest and honey in a small bowl. Add the salmon and coat well.

Marinate for 30 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 180o . line a baking tray with baking paper. Transfer the salmon to the lined tray and brush with any remaining marinade.

Roast for 20 minutes or until it flakes easily with a fork.

Summer Corn Salad 1 x 200g corn cob, husk on 1 large zucchini (300g) cubed ½ lime (35g) juice and zest ¼ cup (4g) chopped fresh coriander Wrap the corn in its husk in cling wrap.

Microwave on high for 2 ½ minutes. Remove, let cool, then husk.

Stand the corn in a wide, shallow bowl and with a sharp knife, slice downwards to release the kernels, discard the cob.

Transfer the kernels to a medium bowl. Add the zucchini, lime juice and zest, and coriander.

Season with cracked pepper and toss to combine.
