Erin (centre) and fluro friends get physical for Lillian.

FROCKED up and looking fabulous in fluro, more than 170 people let their body talk at the Majestic Theatre last month to raise money for a young local girl with childhood cancer.

The Let’s Get Physical for Lillian fundraiser, organised by Erin Yarwood of E Fitness Pomona, raised $8,400 for the three-yearold and her family.

Erin said what started out as just a small idea a couple of months ago turned into the super colourful, fun night they had on 26 November. “There was a photo booth, some amazing balloon making, a performance from the Kin Kin Drama Group, an ‘80s aerobics class, live art and a flash mob dance thrown into the mix, just to name a few. Everyone donated their time and energy to help. “Plus some amazing food served up by Black Ant Gourmet while a ripper mix of ‘80s tunes played all night. “So many amazing local prizes were donated for the raffle prizes on the night. We auctioned off Ann White’s live artwork at the end of the evening too, which helped raise an extra $300. The raffle tickets alone raised around $5,000.

“Together we all raised a whopping $8,400 to hand over to Lillian and her family to help them out during these tough times. This was all thanks to ticket sales of the evening, raffle ticket sales, Ann’s art auction, money from the photo booth, a large cut of the bar takings from the Majestic, and all profit made from Black Ant catering – plus numerous cash donations to the cause. What a community,” Erin said.

Lillian’s grandmother Maureen said on Facebook they are amazed.

“A great surprise and wonderful support from the community. Thank you to Erin and the whole community. We are so overwhelmed by this.”

More time to play at Cooroy playground

Longer hours means more time to play at Cooroy’s Hinterland Adventure Playground.

COOROY'S popular playground is now open longer.

The Hinterland Adventure Playground will stay open an extra hour until 7 pm during December and January. Noosa Council Infrastructure Services Director Larry Sengstock said the longer hours – from 6 am to 7 pm every day – will provide more play time for local and visiting families over the holiday period. "Over the summer period, we want as many families and visitors to continue to enjoy this wonderful playground. "The playground is certainly helping to foster a love for the outdoors among young children, and we want to encourage that as much as possible," he said.
