Copenhagen Photo Festival invites you to the five-year anniversary of the Festival.

The festival celebrates photography with exhibitions in galleries, museums, independent venues in Copenhagen and surrounding area, in south of Sweden and several places in the rest of Denmark. The heart of the festival is Photo City in The Carlsberg City District [Carlsberg Byen] where you can experience lots of exhibitions, Photo Stage, newspaper photo department on location and a cinema. As always we invite you to join artist talks, portfolio reviews, workshops, and much more. PICTURE THE MUSIC The two famous Danish photographers Søren Solkær and Joachim Ladefoged curate the exhibition, Picture the Music. The exhibition shows music photography taken by amateurs and professionals from all over Denmark. Copenhagen Photo Festival will present an exhibition in eight different cities in Denmark that captures the sense of music, emotions, memories, and experiences related to music. Picture the Music is supported by Nordea-fonden.

PHOTO THEME THE PHOTO FESTIVAL ON TV Thursday June 12 9pm: Søren Solkær A closer look at the Danish photographer who has become internationally renowned through his portraits of The White Stripes and Adele among others. Now he has decided to go in a different direction and photograph street artists. Thursday June 12 9.30pm: Control This film gem from 2007 pays tribute to the master photographer and film director Anton Corbijn. Control portrays Ian Curtis the iconic front man of Joy Division and is Anton Corbijn’s first feature film. Thursday June 12 11.25pm: People * Love * Photos A thought-provoking and important portrayal of the female influence in photography. The photographer and director Christian Klinger follows four young American female photographers and their work with art photography. Friday June 13 9pm: Blowup This iconic film from the Italian star director Michelangelo Antonioni perfectly captures the vibe of the sixties and The Swinging London through the portrayal of the main character, the hip fashion photographer Thomas. Friday June 13 10.50pm: Helmut Newton Portrait program about the German-Australian photographer Helmut Newton who was a pioneer of fashion photography. His controversial and beautiful photographs explored themes such as power, gender, and sexuality. Friday June 13 12.30am: Fragile – The Russian Photographer Evgeny Mokhorev Portrait of the Russian photographer Evgeny Mokhorev – a master in capturing frailty through his lens.

Saturday June 14 9pm: Finding Vivian Maier The film explores the mystery of the secret photographer and nanny Vivian Maier. Today she is considered one of the twentieth century’s best street photographers. Saturday June 14 10.25pm: Guest of Cindy Sherman This documentary, filmed over 15 years, creates a unique portrait of Cindy Sherman who is one of the most important artists in the world. For more than 30 years she has included herself in her art by taking part as a model in different disguises. Saturday June 14 11.55pm: Duane Michals – The Man Who Invented Himself On tour with the lively 81-year-old American photographer and his suitcase. Sunday June 15 9pm: Inside Out: Anton Corbijn An intimate portrait of the photographer Anton Corbijn whose work has defined an entire generation. Meet the man behind the lens when he travels around the world as photographer, filmmaker, and video artist.

A workshop on old photographic techniques arranged in connection to the Polish National Film School’s exhibition in Photo City. Participants can build and try their own pinhole camera, develop photos in a darkroom and much more. The workshop will also set up a studio and go on location.
