Lowe’s volunteers help makeover the Superior Food Bank
Last week, employees from the Lowe’s at Ellsworth descended on Superior with the mission to do some good. And good they did. The Superior Food Bank was the recipient of
all that goodness as the volunteers did a huge makeover. Lowe’s volunteers installed new cabinets and countertops, replaced ceiling tiles, installed new ceiling fans, replaced all of the flooring,
replaced ceiling lighting with new LED fixtures, installed a sink and a disposal, built new racks and painted the interior of the main room. The Town of Superior wanted to get in on the
goodness too and provided funds to purchase a new water heater, door locks and gate. The project was done in coordination with Rebuild Superior, Inc. How awesome was this?

Superior wraps up undefeated regular season, playoffs next
By Andrew Luberda Superior Sun The Superior football team finished the regular season undefeated for the third time in four years following a 48 – 6 victory at NFL Yet Academy last Friday in the regular-season finale for both teams. Panthers’ senior quarterback Steven Ybarra, who will almost certainly be named the 1A Player of the Year, threw three touchdown passes and ran for three more in the lopsided win. Daniel McConnell, Cedric Mendoza and Jesus Castellanos each had scoring receptions. The defense was stout again, allowing six points or fewer for the fifth time this season. Additionally, Marc Mendoza (3), McConnell (2) and Cedric Mendoza (5) combined for 10 sacks of Eagles’ quarterbacks. The
Mendoza brothers each finished with a team-high nine tackles while Gabriel Otero added eight. “We talked about finishing strong and I believe we did just that,” Superior head coach Ryan Palmer said about his team’s performance. “We have done what we needed to, so far. The challenging second season begins now.” Superior finished No. 2 in the AIA’s final rankings, which earned it a first-round bye. The Panthers will host the winner between No. 7 Bagdad and No. 10 Ray on Friday, Oct. 26, at 6 p.m. The Panthers have had recent success against both teams, defeating Ray two weeks ago, 56 – 14, and a 44 – 34 victory over Bagdad in last year’s state semifinals. “The No. 2 seed has earned us a tough road to the championship,” Palmer said. “We will be tested each week with the toughest teams in the state, one after

another, after another.” In the meantime, the Panthers will take advantage of the bye week, looking to end the postseason the same way it did the regular season – undefeated. “Right now, our focus is on ourselves,” Palmer said. We need to clean some things up, get healthy, and get focused. It is how we play, not who we play. “This team has worked harder than any other team I have coached in the offseason weight room, and they have continued that weight room work throughout the season. This is the time of year when that hard work pays dividends.”

serving all citizens fairly and competently in both courts in the new Precinct 5. It has been my honor to serve you these past four years, and I look forward to serving you for another four year term. Strategic Plan To Address New Precinct 5 Court Challenges: This new Precinct 5 will cover an enormous geographical area, including the Copper Corridor of Pinal County. The Court looks forward to serving all citizens from the rural areas, as well as those from the towns and urban settings. Having been a professional healthcare clinician/ nurse and serving as a judge, both disciplines require a commitment to serve all, regardless of background, ethnicity and socioeconomic origins. Non-partisanship after the election is paramount. The court is here to uphold the law while considering each defendant as an individual, assisting them to a positive resolution/ pathway. Our new expanded precinct will require expertise in advanced technologies, complex database configurations, and the leadership of a court staff to meet all challenges. The Team we have in place is ready to meet your court interactions, and consists of judges (presiding and protem) and court staff with over 100 years of combined experience. Re-elect Judge Nancy Discher to the Best Court Team fully prepared and ready to meet and exceed your court experience. /s/ Nancy Discher Justice of the Peace, Oracle
