February 13, 2014 RE: Session Facilitation at the 2nd Annual First Nations LNG Summit On behalf of Treaty 8 Tribal Association, I would like to extend our great appreciation and support for your participation at the upcoming First Nations LNG Summit. As you prepare for your session, we are providing you with a briefing on the vision and logistics of the Summit. The theme of the Summit will build on Treaty 8 Tribal Association’s First Nations LNG Strategy vision statement: “To enable the meaningful engagement and participation of impacted First Nation communities within British Columbia’s natural gas and LNG sectors.” Our goal for the Summit is to enable participants to return to their communities with new tools and ideas to engage in and respond to LNG development. We would like to encourage group participation through storytelling, sharing, and conversation amongst all of the participants in your session. As a facilitator of a breakout session, you play a critical role in this discussion. Some broad guidelines are outlined below: • As a session facilitator, we ask that you please try to engage the entire audience in the discussion, rather than provide a full-‐length presentation. • As much as possible, please focus on the general topic of First Nations participation within the natural resource sector, as opposed to a specific development or project. • For several sessions, we have asked various people to co-‐present – please see the attached agenda for the latest information on confirmed speakers. If you are in one of these sessions, you will receive an email shortly to introduce you to your co-‐presenter(s). • Several of the sessions will be organized as panels with a moderator. The moderator is expected to communicate the intended format with the presenters and discuss any questions prior to the session. Each panel member will have approximately 5-‐8 minutes to introduce themselves and their background to the participants.

The Moderator will have a set of questions to guide the conversation. These will be prepared and sent to the Moderator and Panel Members shortly via a separate email. If there are additional comments or suggestions please contact Lindsay Beck. These questions are intended to facilitate further discussion and audience participation. If you require any support preparing for your session, please contact Lindsay Beck at Copper Moon via info@fnlngstrategy.ca or by phone at 1-‐855-‐702-‐ 3080.

Additional logistics: • Break-‐out sessions will be 75 minutes in length. • Every room will be equipped with a laptop, projector, and screen, along with flip charts and markers. If you require the use of any other materials, please email Lindsay Beck (see contact on next page). • Printing facilities will be available. Please bring any additional supplies/handouts you may require. • If you have not already done so, please register for the Summit. All delegates (including presenters and attendees) must register to ensure that there is sufficient room and resources during the Summit. You can register at http://fnlngstrategy.ca/fort-‐saint-‐john/. • All sessions will be recorded and transcribed, and a sign-‐in sheet will be passed around during each session. • Remember to fill out the evaluation form in your delegate pack or online for your chance to win an iPad mini.
