Halloween Express

Spook Season was popping this October in the music scene of MKE. With showcases popping up left and right, as the wind blew the fall leafs through the air, it also blew CopyWrite through the city to see a few. Halloween Express being one of them. The day before Halloween we found ourselves dressed up in costumes vibing out at the event being held at the Cactus Club tucked off in Bayview (Milwaukee’s South Side). The line up an expressive one. Including the likes of Queen Tut (a new city fav), Chakara Blu, AR Wesley, Fivy, Weekend Neely, Tito The Scumbag and the man who invited us, Vato. The energy was insane through the venue is not that large, you would have thought we were at some warehouse rave getting turn up. Every artist set was characterized by their own personal auras, some trap linguistics, some “summoning” moon gods, others bleeding the spasmodic with the calm. How? We still have yet to fully comprehend the trick. With that being said the artist still managed to keep the room feeling intimate where crowd interaction became a growing part of each set, which is no easy thing to do. Through all the acts were note worthy, we want to give a big shout out to Vato. Not only does he dress to kill, he knows how to put on a great show. Before he appeared on stage he had a few ladies came to set up his space. An old style briefcase with a burlap like fabric, some liquor, his water & Boom, it was about to go down. The stage was hyped up by his counterpart
Mason HighLife, who acted as the Ying to his Yang for his set, and his eye candy sat with their legs dangling off the side of the stage, Vato brought on the vibe. No spontaneous act but his execution, nothing less than natural. Sources say his stage presence and energy was supprising. That night reflected how expressive of a MC Vato really is. Creating a moment in time he let us hear a few a tracks and guided us into lyrics that play through beats that you can’t help but fix your lips to repeat. He shook us up, he soothed us out, he even made the crowd laugh. We actually had a lot of fun and this is something we can’t always say about local events a skill the city is still learning how to perfect. So we had to ask Vato, “Do you have any comments on your Halloween Show?”
“ It was super awesome… felt like a movie!!! It’s real and I love CopyWrite Mag and Mason HighLife Lol”. Well we love ya back. Sometimes it’s nice to just go out & live up the night with true expression. Check out Vato’s new track premiered on copywritemag.com, Miss Mary Mary. Love & All Things Urban, CopyWrite
