I finally called 911. The 911 operator was not only nice, but she said, “Is that the disturbance on such and such street?” “Yes,” I said, and the operator

said, “We have had multiple calls and are sending out multiple units to help them.” I noticed after I’d hung up that people from the area were gathering to make sure no one was getting hurt. I was so proud of where I lived and the police and how fast they

TIGHT SQUEEZE: Coquitlam’s Nathan Massey, left, puts the brakes to a White Rock peewee opponent in his team’s 22-6 victory last week. To see more photos, scan this page using the free Layar app.

Chargers short in comeback bid A valiant pushback nearly did the trick, but the Coquitlam Chargers fell just short in losing 22-19 to the Vancouver Trojans in bantam football action. Vancouver scored the game’s first three majors to lead 22-0 at the half, but the Chargers put on their rally caps. Quarterback Lucas Gill threw for two

touchdowns, with Bowen Goldade and Liam Stewart scoring the majors. Late in the game, Jason Tade recovered a fumble and cashed it in for the team’s third TD. In the end, Coquitlam was full marks for the comeback effort. Picking up some big yardage during the contest was Martin Norman, while Devin Pal recorded a clutch QB sack.
