Birthday FAQ’s
Birthday Party Frequently Asked Questions:
May I request a specific party leader? Staff are assigned regular birthday party shifts at specific locations, so we do not accept requests for individual leaders. Is there a limit to the number of people who can attend? 16 children maximum including little ones on the move and the birthday child! (unless otherwise noted). Parents may be in the room to assist young children, but food and party activities are for the party participants only. Can parties be for multiple children at one time? We limit parties to one child (or two children in the same family). How long are the parties? Most parties are 2 hours in length, plus 30 minutes of set-up prior to the start time to prepare for your guests and 15 minutes for cleanup. Can we stay longer than the allotted time? Time extensions and multiple party bookings will not be accepted. What should I bring to the party? Please bring the following items to your party: food, beverages, plates, napkins, cutlery and tablecloths for 6’ rectangle tables (4 recommended) and goody bags (optional). What can I bring to decorate? You are welcome to bring your own party decorations/supplies, but we ask that you use tape only to avoid damage to the walls. Please note that we do not allow helium balloons in any of our facilities.
Are there kitchen facilities available? Each of our locations has a fridge available. Party on the Mountain offers access to a stove and oven for reheating. What is the cancellation policy for birthday parties? All parties require two weeks’ notice to cancel. No refunds will be provided if cancellation occurs within two weeks. Where do I meet my party leader? At the Recreation Complex look for your party signage in the main lobby; it will lead you to the party location. Is the party leader responsible for supervising the children? Yes, the party leader will maintain the active portion of the party. We ask that you assist the party leader during the activities. In the 2nd hour of the party we ask that parents help supervise the children. Can I hire a magician/clown/fairy to entertain at my party? Third party entertainers are not permitted. For parties that offer a craft, can I request a specific craft? Our party leader prepares an age appropriate craft and you may discuss a craft option upon arrival or during set-up time. Will I receive a phone call from my leader prior to my party date? All relevant information is provided at time of registration with pertinent information on your receipt.
Additional Questions for Arena and Aquatics Parties Only
Arena Parties
Will I receive a phone call from my leader prior to my party date? A leader will contact you up to one week prior to set up a meeting place and answer any questions you may have. Will we have the entire ice sheet to ourselves? Fall & Winter parties – a ¼ of the ice will be dedicated to your party during a family skate session. Spring parties – your party will have a private sheet of ice in the curling rink.
Do pool parties come with a leader? Pool toys/equipment are provided and our lifeguard will offer some fun games upon request. Does the maximum number of participants include guests who are not using the pool? The maximum number includes both pool and poolside guests (everyone inside the gates). Can we bring food? Yes, a barbeque, pop-up tent, tables and chairs will be available for your party.
Do we have to pay for skate and helmet rentals? Skates and helmet rental are included in your party fee.
If public swim starts directly after our party, can we stay? Yes, you may stay free of charge for the public swim.
Can the kids wear bike helmets? Bike helmets are not permitted on the ice surface as they do not offer adequate protection.
What happens if it’s raining on the day of my party? Pool parties run rain or shine. The water always feels warmer when it’s raining outside! A pop-up tent will be provided.
Do we have access to a kitchen? Arena parties do not have access to a fridge or kitchen facilities.
Aquatic Parties
Will I receive a phone call from my leader prior to my party date? You will be contacted by aquatic staff to confirm details prior to you party.
Is there an opportunity to invite more guests than the maximum? An additional lifeguard can be hired in advance, for an extra fee, to increase the number of guests.

New curbside glass collection for Port Moody residents Starting in the spring of 2015, the City of Port Moody will pick up non-refundable glass at the curb on a monthly basis. Glass can be tricky to collect. It often gets broken into pieces that contaminate other recyclables or are too small to process at the depot. We’ll provide single family homes with a separate bin for glass, while multi-family homes will get a large cart for their garbage rooms. City staff will start picking up glass on a monthly basis beginning April 20, 2015. We’ll be delivering a new glass collection schedule along with your bin. Find more information on the program online at www.portmoody.ca/glass.

Kinesiologists also provide exercise programs appropriate for rehabilitation before and after surgery as well as many chronic illnesses such as osteoporosis, arthritis, diabetes, stroke rehabilitation or cardiac rehabilitation. Functional Movement Screening (FMS)
Our Certified FMS Personal Trainer will introduce you to Functional Movement Screening (FMS). FMS is a ranking and grading system that documents movement patterns that are key to normal function. By screening these patterns, the FMS readily identifies functional limitations and asymmetries which can affect physical activity and performance. Once you complete the movement patterns, a score is given which is used to target and track progress and corrective exercises are prescribed to address possible movement pattern issues.

Personal Training Private Restorative Yoga Restorative Yoga is led by Connie Meisner our Certified Therapeutic Restorative Yoga Instructor. Whatever you are experiencing, take it to the mat. Yoga can transform illness to health, injury to strength, and anxiety to joy. Yoga works on all aspects of our being – physical, mental and emotional – bringing us to a place of health, wellness and joyful vitality. Restorative Yoga is a gentle therapeutic style of yoga that uses props such as blankets, bolsters and blocks to minimize the amount of work that the muscles are doing in the pose. Once placed in these supported passive postures you will experience the body and mind being grounded, safe and integrated. The poses are held for several minutes and often consist of only 3-5 poses for the private session (60 minutes). The focus of the practice is to restore the central nervous system and the internal systems of the body. Restorative Yoga is a soothing and nurturing practice that promotes the effects of conscious relaxation and helps address specific health challenges. $64.00/One 60 Minute Session Package prices are advertised with Personal Training Packages
