PROLOGUE
After six years of study in architecture, I ask myself several questions: Whether I truly engage in architecture? Should I persist with architecture? Whether I am a qualified architect in the future? I firmly tell myself these answers are all YES. However, in order to distinguish myself from others, I need to know what my true self is? Preparing for portfolio is the way for me to find my own uniqueness in architecture: As architects, we should have our own attitude. We are not just sloving professional problems. We need to have the confidence and courage to get involved in every field by building interdisciplinary relationship. In this portfolio, I would like to express my interest in challenging interdisplinary research in architecture design. These seven projects involve with main fields in education, botany, drama, culture, technology and society. From my point of view, a good architect should be a good story teller. Like plot of a story, design strategy is the most important part in an architecture story which comes from interdisciplinary research and innovative strategy. I am sure architects will face various architectural problems involving with other fields. Only architects with rich experience in interdisplinary research can stand out. Therefore, I believe in your company’s value as an international platform with inclusive workforce and multidisciplinary project opportunities.

01 LIVE DREAM THEATER Renovate Theater Space by Integrating into an Immersive Drama Office-Related Work, Team Work Tutor: Chen Ling(GSD, STUDIOLITE), Jessie Cui(Tulane University) Tasks: Drawing, 3D-Modelling, Coordination, Material Selection Location: Jiading District, Shanghai, China Status: Completed Time: Jul.-Sep.2016 The project is a theater renovation project based on pervious design by URBANUS. We aims to satisfy client’s need for a drama by changing the function of the previous building from office use to theater use. Our client —SOURCE OF HAPPINESS, as one of the most famous drama company is directing a drama called MEI which is an immersive drama involves audience’s performance at any time and any place in the building. Because of that, we try to build the relationship between spatial prototypes of the theater space and plots of the drama. The interior design of the theater reflects a high-end industrial style supprting the scenes of the drama by using elements like metal, light, concrete and so on.

The project tends to carry out a plan of a high-rise Vertical Campus City which strengthenig traditional space supporting teaching and learning in the meantime introducing innovative spacial elements in response to future need. As the Internet age shortens the distance between individuals and blurs the boundaries within disciplines, education will be somewhere more accessible to public, interactive, interdisciplinary and cross-school. Meanwhile, relations between education, living and working will appear more interactive. As the urban population becomes denser, men are faced with the scarcity of space available for future architecture. So there is a chance that campus buildings occupying large area before will reach up to sky in the future.
GENERATION OF BUILDING BLOCK
Accordingly, we propose to carry out a plan of a high-rise Vertical Campus City which strengthens traditional space supporting teaching and learning in the meantime introducing innovative spacial elements in response to future need.

FUNCTION ANALYSIS
SCENES
The regular space in two towers combines with various patterns of classrooms ,similiar office rooms, shared dormitories and open public hotel which brings benifits to the uinversity. Compared with the regular space, the spiral space is the most active part in the campus providing education functions like meeting, library, museum, exhibition, entertainment space like business, cafe, exercise, band. Also, the bottom side of the campus make use of the platform to provide great perspective of the river.

Tutor: Zhanjun Fan(Nantong University) Location: Changqing Sha District, Rugao, Nantong, China Time: Feb.-May. 2016 The project is based on the research of seasonal features about potted-plants industry. The umbrellas structure of the museum is influenced by the need of form which follows the narration of four seasonal planting. Rugao potted-plants museum is located in Changqing Sha district in Rugao, Nantong. The site is a piece of land near Yangtze River in Rugao Ecological Park and covers an area of 20,000 square meters. The project aims to start with the research of potted-plants industry and wants to build culture.

Based on the knowledge of Rugao potted-plants culture, I analysis the production process and characteristics of the industry and apply it to the architecture design and planning. Unlike similar vegetation plantation, potted-plants industry has its unique characteristic of industry. Because of this, the planning of original ecological park, programme consideration, architecture form, interior design all reflects the seasonal characteristic of this industry.

04 RESHAPE MACBETH IN MANHATTAN Research on Spatial Prototypes about Macbeth Personal Research Work Location: Theater District, Broadway, Manhattan Time: Apr.-Jun.2016 The project is based on the research of Shakespear’s classic drama Macbeth. I want to narrate an immersive theater by acting 12 various scenes in a building. The theater contains 12 different spatial prototypes which are developed from 12 main scenes in Macbeth according to performer’s movement, emotion expression and human scale.
ABOUT MACBETH
SITE
Macbeth was a marshal of King Dunken of Scotland, one day,he met 3 witches ,they told him some crazy words, and his wife Mrs Macbeth roused him againsted King Dunken, and became a king himeself. Macbeth obey, and did it. Then son of Dunken wanted to revenge,he lead the army from England and destroied his enemy's country, and put Macbeth's head chop off . And the most beautiful Mrs Macbeth killed herself to stop the shame.
The site is located in a narraw block in Theater District(Broadway), Manhattan. Compared with the interesting and complex inner space, the form of the theater is reguar, vertical and unexpressive.

05 LIVING ART BETWEEN NARROW SPACE Recreate New Living Possibilities in High Sky Personal Work Location: Central & Western District, Hongkong, China Time: Jun.-Jul.2014 In my project, different size of cubes are put between towers in these narrow streets for new living space without damaging the original. Functionally, cubes are dewelling, business, club, gym, gallery to satisfy the surrounding needs. Structurally, cubes are supported by tension structure between existing towers. Spstially, cubes are high and low scatted to provide continuous open space.

06 ARCHITECTURE THROUGH THE EYES OF A MACHINE Research on Machine Learing by using AI Tool Personal Research Work Tutor: Karel Klein(Pratt Institute, Ruy Klein) Location: Brooklyn Navy Yard, Brooklyn, New York Time: Aug.-Dec.2018 The project focus on exploring new form of architeture facade system. I attempt to use the convolutional neural network (CNN) in multiple ways in the development of the architecture project. I worked with AI script, developing the images and look for new and unexpected opportunities for further collaboration during the whole process. By using AI a tool, I break the tectonic system in old facade image and create new way of facade system.
