Coram Deo Academy Working together for a brighter future
Welcome to the fourth year of Cognitio. Cognitio is Latin for “the process of getting to know someone or something”. Each seasonal edition over the next few years will feature members of our faculty and student leaders for the purpose of acquainting the reader with the many excellent people at CDA. The student leaders represented in Cognitio are elected by their peers and are either House Presidents or Senior Class Officers.

Valley Creek Church Flower Mound Campus List the Colleges you attended. Taylor University Upland, IN 1999-2003 What degree(s) do you hold? I still can’t believe it! It amazes me that I’m sitting here thinking of my life and feel like everything is a huge accomplishment that I’m so proud of: my family, my marriage, my home, our side real estate business, my worship ministry, teaching at CDA, everything! What is a valuable life lesson you have learned? My value is not based on what I do but that I am a child of God. He has called me his own, his beloved daughter. Describe a favorite moment in life? One of my favorite moments happened on May 4 of 2012. It was the day that our youngest daughter, Naomi, came home from Ethio-

pia. It is the day Anna met her sister. It was the day that we finally had both girls under our roof: we were a family of 4 FINALLY. Why do you think manhole covers are round? Because people are round ;) If you were asked to unload a 747 full of jelly beans, what would you do? Find all my friends and ask them to help! If you woke up to 2000 unread emails and could only answer 300 of them, how would you choose which ones to answer? I’d read the ones addressed just to me first because I’m the only one reading it...sole responsibility. Do you have a life motto, favorite Bible verse, or do you have a favorite quote? Zephaniah 3:17 “The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.” If you could take any adventure trip possible, what would it be? Why? I’d fly to Argentina or Chili and take a cruise to Antarctica. My life goal is to walk on all 7 continents. I’ve been to 4: North America, Europe, Asia and Africa. Antarctica will be the hardest to get to but I’ve done the research and it is possible. Anyone want to give me a $20K gift so my husband and I can go? :)

Megan’s parents are Karyn and Tom. She has a younger sister Mia (CDA sophomore) and our dog Tanner. Her family attends the Church of the Resurrection in Flower Mound. Tell what you plan to do after high school. Aside from attending college, I hope to glorify God through my actions and endeavors. I plan to attend Texas A&M University and major in Biomedical Sciences. Share some of your accomplishments during high school. Aside from balancing academics, volleyball, and my job (shout-out to Bahama Bucks!), I am most proud of the work I have done to spread awareness and help relieve water poverty in Native American communities. What does becoming a “wise thinker” mean to you? In the strictest sense, a wise thinker is able to use background information and other knowledge pertinent to the situation in order to develop a solution or pose another question. While we, as students, have been prepared by our teachers to do just that, we have also been trained to be able to defend our faith and think about things in ways that no one else does. To me, a wise thinker is someone who uses all the skills they have learned or developed to analyze a certain ques-

tion or topic and be able to point whatever conclusion is drawn to God. What does “ethical servant leadership” mean to you? As Christians, we are called to serve and live for others. I have personally felt this calling over the past few years and it is one of the main reasons that I am choosing to go into the medical field after college. But to serve others does not mean that we cannot ourselves be leaders – I think it is both interesting and telling that Jesus, who lived His life as a servant of God and humanity, was the most prominent leader of men in all of history. For CDA to educate students with strong Christian ethics and morals to be active servant leaders of the future is truly amazing. What was the “secret” to success at CDA? If I had to choose one quality to emphasize to current and future students at CDA it would be hard work – shortcuts usually end up taking more time and cause more stress than just doing the assignment in the first place. What did you care most about when you were 10 years old? Making sure that my two Build-a-Bears were properly clothed for the weather outside and that I was asleep by bed-time (a weird phase I know, it didn’t last long).
Megan Dole Grade 12
Secretary for the Class of 2016
What Christian character trait have you worked hard to develop or do you most want to see developed in your life? Why? I hope to grow in my faithfulness in God’s timing and provision so that I can spend less time worrying about that one test or what I’m going to do with the rest of my life and instead have the freedom to explore God’s creation and grow in my relationship with Him.
