Why do you like living in the
TWIN CITIES?
“There are so many different options for literally anything I want to do. There are always new restaurants to go to, community events to participate in, and new organizations to get to know.” Emma Connell ‘14
“I moved here about four years ago and love it! There’s so much to do – you can find anything for your interests. There’s a lot of nature within the actual city as well, so it’s easy to get outside and do something. There are opportunities for good careers and the bigger companies have great networks and development.”
“The access to nature and parks, the vibrant music scene, and endless opportunities to join in social movements make the Twin Cities a pretty hard place to beat. There’s always something to do here and it’s very often cheap or free!” Katie Black ‘17
Micalie Kempfert ‘13 “I love living in the Twin Cities for its livability. It’s a convenient place to live without a car – it has areas with high walkability and great access to public transit. It has great diversity in entertainment and cultural amenities. It is LGBTQ-friendly. It has a lot of professional opportunity as well in various industries.” Amber Morgan ‘15
“I enjoy living in the Twin Cities because there is always something to do and people to meet. It’s a growing, creative, and welcoming city to be a part of.”
“The Cities have everything to offer from city life to lakes, kayaking and great food! There is always something new, but it’s also easy to become a local and get that close community feeling in the neighborhood of your choice.”

Whittier
This up-and-coming area is known for art galleries and studios, which is why it is commonly known as the Arts District. Arts aside, the main appeal is the nightlife – artisanal food shops, craft breweries, and neighborhood bars make up the streets. Along the riverfront you can view the downtown skyline and walk a footbridge to Nicollet Island.
A friendly Midwestern suburb that provides big city amenities but with small town charm. It is less than 5 miles from downtown Minneapolis and is filled with unique culinary, historic treasures and many city parks with trails.
Marcy-Holmes was the first neighborhood established in the metropolitan area. To its south is the Mississippi River and to the east is the U of M campus. The diverse neighborhood is rich with 100 years of historical tapestry and home to the Dinkytown business district.
Whittier is known for its many restaurants, coffee shops and Asian markets, especially along Nicollet Avenue, which is more commonly known as Eat Street. The art scene is vast – Minneapolis Institute of Art, Minneapolis College of Art and Design, and the Children’s Theatre Company make the neighborhood rich and lively.
