Why do you like living in
FARGO-MOORHEAD “I love the people and the culture here. There is always something new going on and fun things happening around town.” Abbey Benson ’17
“I like living in Fargo-Moorhead because of its appreciation and celebration of culture. I’ve also found that it’s a great place to live as a student or recent graduate because of all the (typically free) events geared toward 20-somethings that the area has to offer.”
“There’s always something new to discover and new people to meet. You’ll find folks who share just about any interest you may have if you’re willing to look. Sports, business, trades, the arts ... you name it, people are doing it.” Jordan Degerness ’16
“I love living in the F-M area because I feel like it is such a passionate environment. People who live here are so fired up about their cause, whether it’s art, music, sustainability, human rights, politics, etc. Whatever their passion, I feel like the people in Fargo-Moorhead want to change the world. That energy constantly inspires me to do more, and be my best self, and I can’t imagine living anywhere else.”
“Fargo feels like the perfect size. It’s big enough that you will always have the opportunity to meet new people but small enough that you’ll likely run into someone you know when you’re out and about. It’s also a very connected city, which is important when you’re looking for jobs and networking. Fargo is constantly growing and changing, and I look forward to seeing what it does next. I feel invested in its future now, which is something I didn’t feel while growing up here.”

Sway Day
“The F-M area truly cares about integrating the community in rain, shine, sleet, or snow. My favorite events in the warmer seasons are the Red River Market, Sway Day, and the Rare Beer Picnic. In the winter, I enjoy The Tell, Frostival, and the many makers markets in the area.” Morgan Schleif ’16

Best ways to
GET INVOLVED in the community
“1 Million Cups, Stampede, Global Shapers, TEDxFargo, and 35 under 35. There are SO many more as long as you’re looking and ready to put yourself out there. One connection leads to 20 more.” Morgan Schleif ’16
“Habitat for Humanity – build houses for people who need them. Emergency Food Pantry – help run a source of grocery foods for people who can’t afford them. United Way of Cass-Clay – local branch of national charity organization.” Jordan Degerness ’16
“The F-M area has a ton of volunteer opportunities available every month that can relate to just about anything you could be interested in. This can be a great way to learn more about your community and meet new people that share similar interests to you! Networking groups are also out there if you know where to look and can be helpful for finding new ways to get involved.” Libby Hardwick ’17
“Volunteer with the Rape and Abuse Crisis Center.” Kylie Windecker ’16
“Groups like LADYBOSSes of Fargo-Moorhead, FMWF Chamber Young Professionals Network, Stampede, and various niche groups that provide social hours are a great way to get involved. There are also many churches in the area with thriving small group opportunities if that’s your thing.“ Sydni Kreps ’16 “There are volunteer opportunities all over town and there are always networking events going on. The chamber has a young professionals group that hosts events every month.” Abbey Benson ’17

Favorite Fargo-Moorhead
NEIGHBORHOODS
to call home
“The Kassenborg block located in Moorhead right on the Red River is great! There are also a lot of great apartments in downtown Fargo if you want to be in the thick of the action!”
“Downtown Fargo, of course. SW Fargo – lots of new apartments and houses. Up north near Trollwood Park – nice area near river, some great local restaurants.”
Rachael Michaud ’16
Jordan Degerness ’16
“A lot of recent grads seem to live around the downtown area, but I personally find it to be a bit too expensive and busy for my liking. There are a LOT of apartment options farther south and out in West Fargo. It’s a bit farther from the hub of activity that is downtown, but it’s worth it if you appreciate more space and quieter nights.” Sydni Kreps ’16
“I absolutely LOVE living in the heart of Downtown. There’s walkability, liveliness, and abundance of friendly people. Also, many of the buildings are original, offering a raw and refurbished living space – which was a must on our list! There’s always an event, brewery, or outdoor activity less than a block away.” Morgan Schleif ’16
