Nick Steinhofer ’21 BROOTEN, MINN. Food, Nutrition, and Dietetics FAVORITE COBBER TRADITION: My favorite tradition is when the incoming students walk through the President’s House during Orientation Week. Being a new student can be stressful, but this showed me that Concordia cares. The president of the college and his wife (two of the nicest people) invite the entire class into their home and take the time to meet every student. To make it even better, they give everyone ice cream. What is not to love about that? CHOOSING CONCORDIA: I chose Concordia because I felt at home here. I visited multiple times, and each time I was able to see myself being here more and more. The defining moment was when I stayed overnight in a residence hall. The students treated me like a friend and I had the best visit out of any college I had been to because of these kinds of interactions.

Chelsea Masikati ’21 HARARE, ZIMBABWE Chemistry FAVORITE STOP ON THE CAMPUS TOUR: My favorite stop on the tour is the north side of campus by Prexy’s Pond. Many student activities take place in the open lawn area there. It’s also the location of worship nights for a campus club I’m involved with called Remedy. Faith is a big part of my life and I love that Concordia gives me the space to worship with others and talk about my faith. ADVICE FOR NEW STUDENTS: Set a foundation that will help drive you toward your goals. Try to be organized and purposeful and stay connected to your friends, family, and faith.

On Tuesdays, I pick up lunch in the Green To Go containers at The Maize because I don’t have time to eat at Anderson. One of my favorite meals is chicken tenders and Maize fries.
I use Cobber Cash on my Student ID for an iced tea and protein bar from the Korn Krib on my way to choir rehearsal. I also grab a blueberry muffin to have for breakfast in my room tomorrow.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT FALL ORIENTATION Secure Your Squad
There will be plenty of chances to meet your people: floormate dinners, walks to Dairy Queen, hammock time on Olin Hill, and the Bell Tower Bash (an outdoor dance scheduled for Aug. 27).
Find Your Way
Orientation activities are held all across campus, ensuring that you’ll know where to go when classes begin.
Get ready for an immersive four days of getting to know the campus and your new Cobber family
Collect Connections
Meet your new biggest cheerleaders – like the staff at the Center for Student Success, your academic advisor, and more.
Heather Ukaonu ’22 KULM, N.D.
Psychology + Spanish | 2021 Orientation Chair A key component of Orientation is getting new students connected with the people across campus who will support them throughout their four years. Each day, there are activities scheduled to introduce them to peers, staff, and faculty (including their Inquiry Seminar professor and academic advisor). I chose to attend Concordia over other schools because Concordia remembered me. I came back for my second visit – a year after my first one! – and some of the faculty and students remembered who I was. Concordia felt like a place I belonged before I even moved here.
