Mountain, champions, bike: a LOOK trilogy. Alpe d’Huez , mythical climb of the Tour de France with its 21 bends, that saw the impressive victories of the greatest champions, opened the way to Greg Lemond’s victory in 1986, who became the first American to win the Tour de France with the first carbon frame ever used on the professional circuit, the LOOK KG86. A victory marked under the sign of innovation... already! Nowadays when Thomas Voeckler, exceptional since the beginning of the Tour is still in yellow at the top of the Galibier with his Keo Blade pedals, Rein Taaramae wins the white jersey of the best young hope on his LOOK 695. Mountain, champions, bike: a LOOK trilogy. The firm, created on rupture innovations, invented the first ski binding in 1956 and it is the control of the ski technology that allowed the creation of the first clipless pedal in 1984. The adventure continues and there are two world innovations that we propose to share this year. With the Keo Power, it is the first power measurement pedal ever conceived that we are launching on the market. New sensations, new innovations, new integrations... We are pursuing our integration policy. It allows us to improve the quality of our products by pushing back the established standards. Exceed ready-made opinions and let yourself be surprised by our new MTB 920, a concentrate of technology, racy with its integrated stem and adapted to cross-country riders as well as to adepts of marathon distances. We think up, create, develop our products with love and passion. The love of sport in general, of cycling and skiing in particular. In 201••, LOOK will also let you discover its precious alpine heritage with a collection of luxurious, fashionable and technical mountain garments, signed Ludovic Alban. integration When our engineers began to investigate the advantages of integration for us, they quickly recognised the possibilities: by developing components together, rather than working separately like our competitors, we optimise their compatibility and performance by ensuring they work better together. integration also enables product quality to be improved by extending established standards: we develop our own products, because our requirements go beyond those of current standards. Who but LOOK could offer an adjustable carbon fibre stem or a one-piece 100% carbon crankset with unbeatable stiffness? integration also takes account of the aesthetic factor: elements are designed to make a unit that is stylistically coherent.

Since it was launched the 695 has stood apart from its competitors. Such a level of integration had never before been reached on a cycle: the adjustable C-stem, HSC7 fork with its integrated HeadFit 3 headset, ZED 2 monobloc crankset that beats all stiffness records, and the E-Post seatpost... the result of this integration is unmatched riding feel, amazingly efficient power and effort transmission, and optimised cycling precision. This year LOOK is turning its attention to MTB innovations : the entirely new VTT 920 features the new A-stem, with accurate height and length adjustment, providing very rigid steering for ever better performance.

ROAD

in 1984, LOOK invented the automatic pedal The history of automatic pedals will always be associated with LOOK. LOOK, a forerunner in the days when all the pack used toe clips, succeeded in establishing this revolutionary concept, largely due to Bernard Hinault, who won his fifth Tour de France with the first LOOK automatic pedals. This determination to innovate enabled LOOK to retain its status as world-wide leader in the field and establish its KEO standard, which today is recognised all over the world.

08 09

KÉO : LOOK PeDALS Lightweight The Keo standard was developed in the aim of minimising the weight of the cleat/pedal unit. in line with this logic, a brand new concept was perfected for the Keo Blade; the concept associates LOOK’s know-how in automatic pedals and carbon manufacturing. A compressed carbon blade replaces the traditional spring for a very interesting weight gain. The use of composite materials on the whole Keo range allows proposing very lightweight products while remaining extremely performing, and without compromising reliability or comfort.

Reliability

Platform area

Another special feature of our pedals is their reliability and their resistance to wear. The Keo Blade and Keo 2 Max have an iNOX stainless steel pressure area cast moulded in the body of the pedal to improve their service life. A new axis line was developed for the Keo Blade Carbon and the Keo 2 Max. in titanium or steel, both are oversized so as to guarantee great reliability without making the pedal any heavier. All our axes are subject to extremely exhaustive tests to guarantee to the user a product beyond reproach. Three rolling bearings as well as double sealing give our pedals a very long service life even under extreme conditions of use. On the Keo Blade, the lever is bi-injected, the two materials playing a very specific part are complementary: one brings an excellent mechanical behaviour, the other a very good contact with the cleat.

Where some try to reduce the size of the pedal, LOOK has always privileged a wide and large platform area, for us synonymous of transmission of power, of stability and of comfort. On the Keo Blade and on the Keo 2 Max, the platform area was enlarged to improve pedalling efficiency.

Safety When it was launched in 1984 the first LOOK automatic pedal was presented as a safety pedal. This approach has remained one of the key planks in the development of our pedals, and today our innovations are still aimed at cycling safety. Our lastest innovation, the KEO BLADE, ensures very fast cleat entry and exit, due to the compressed carbon blade. The foot is ejected more rapidly with no extra effort and with increased safety. LOOK has made automatic pedals available for all, including beginners, who will appreciate the easily-adjusted KEO CLASSiC, at a price range within reach of cyclists at all levels. From beginners to competitors, all users will find the KEO pedal to meet their requirements.

KeO FIT Keo Fit, the first-ever system designed to ensure optimum cleat settings, was developed and patented by LOOK in cooperation with Sherbrooke University, Canada.

They have all chosen Keo for the 2011-2012 season : UCI Pro Team:

The test, which can be carried out at your LOOK dealer, enables you to find your optimum cleat position and the type of Keo cleats which best suit your pedalling anatomy. This will both limit injuries such as tendinitis and optimise your pedalling efficiency.

KÉO POWeR : The first-ever power measurement pedal LOOK has developed the Keo Power: the first power and cadence measuring pedal for the most demanding cyclists. Combined with POLAR technology for data transmission and display, the Keo Power permits direct display on the computer of pedalling information. To adapt to athletes who leave nothing to chance, LOOK, the inventor of the automatic pedal and POLAR, inventor of the cardio frequency meter, have combined their experience to offer an innovative, accurate reliable product.

How it works

Accurate Measurement

Each pedal senses the cyclist’s power and rate through the pedal shaft and transfers them to transmitters (fixed on the crank arm) which send them directly to the computer using wireless technology.

The Keo Power permits very accurate measurement of the power and cadence. Each axle is equipped with 8 strain gauges permitting very accurate measurement of the axle deflection and so of the forces applied to it.

The first LOOK research on this product goes back to 1986 and the registration of a patent on power measurement in the hub. The first product marketed was the MAX ONE, in 1989, a date at which it was also used on the Tour de France. Since then, several laboratory products have seen the light of day, with some patented, before deciding, 3 years ago to start the design of a The sensors measure the deformation of the pedal axle

product intended for the market. The result of this work is the Keo Power.

1986 : The first LOOK patent registered: hub power measurement

8 stress gauges per axle permit force measurement with very high accuracy (<2%)

The observed measurement deviations, whatever the value of the force and its point of application are less than 2%. The axle electronics are designed to measure forces up to 170kg, obviously the axle can support much larger forces. The cadence is measured using a reed relay placed in the axle of the pedal. Through the force and cadence measurement, the Keo Power is capable of giving the power. The information is then sent to the POLAR transmitter, which sends it wirelessly to the meter via the WiND® protocol.

Left / right balance Because it measures the power on each axle, the Keo Power permits an indication of the left/right power distribution as a percentage. This will allow experienced cyclists to improve their pedalling technique.

Left / right power distribution in percentage : 53% of power developed on the left

47% on the right

easy to install, Use & self-calibration The Keo Power is very easy to install, compatible with the majority of bicycles on the market and very easy to move from one bike to another, in contrast to systems that are found in the crankset or the hub. Calibration is done automatically when the system starts up.

CS600X computer

Keo Power pedals are compatible with Polar CS600X or CS500 computers.

CS500 computer

Connectors at the end of the shaft send the data directly to the transmitter.

The transmitter fits easily into the pedal, being held in place by a clamp collar.

Keo Power is delivered with two transmitters that are attached to the cranks arms, with a computer and a cardio transmitter.

Keo standard: efficiency, realibility, lightness The Keo Power possesses all the characteristics of a Keo. The platform surface is the same as the Keo Blade, which is one of the widest currently available (62mm), guaranteeing excellent stability and efficiency. The platform height is also the same as a Keo Blade (15.2mm). The Keo Power is among the lightest power measurement systems on the market. The axle has been the subject of special attention: 3 bearings, double seals. it has undergone exactly the same approval tests as the standard axles: Keo Power axles have only been approved after a 1 million cycle rotation test at 100rev/min with a load of 90kg on the centre of the pedal and eccentric rotation (which creates a shock at each turn). This test is much greater than the current standard: EN14781.

LOOK: Hi-Tech craft production At LOOK the hand of man is involved at every stage of production: from carbon sheet cutting to laying up, from moulding to grinding, and from decoration to finishing, we have preserved our craft skills and use them to get the most out of our technology. At the same time we have developed our own manufacturing techniques, calling upon all the inventiveness and talents of our engineers and technicians. The construction of a bicycle frame is a delicate operation that calls for all the attention to detail and perfection of manual assembly. it is just this mixture of technology and craftsmanship that makes our products unique.

A 695 frame is made up of 430 different pieces of carbon, and takes 30 hours to manufacture.

16 17

MANUFACTURING Innovation : LOOK’s DNA This allows us to remain competitive in a sector in perpetual evolution and always more demanding. LOOK was long a leader in aluminium lugged frames. At the time, this type of lug offered the best results. LOOK then developed the moulded carbon lugs technology with very high pressure (VHP), having the advantage of being lighter and more rigid. Since several years, LOOK has entered in the era of single-piece frames. LOOK completely controls this technology and integrated the single-piece manufacturing process to its technological advance in the manufacturing of compressed lugs.

The MPHM (Multi Process Hot Moulding) manufacturing process associates single-piece moulding and very high pressure compression in a same operation. The MPHM single-piece frame is reinforced in rigidity and solidity in specific places (crankset casing, saddle tube, head tube) as on lugged frames, while being much lighter. This process allows optimising the shapes of tubes as well as the frame’s aerodynamics. Through these processes Look has for several years notably with the 586 and the 695 abolished the frontier existing between lugged frames and single-piece frames to merge the better of the two technologies.

THe CHOICe OF CARBON Since LOOK’s beginnings in the field of cycling, the selection of manufacturing materials has mainly borne on carbon. This historic choice that has made Look one of the rare pioneers in advanced composites is justified by the characteristics inherent to the various carbon fibres. The most important is the formidable strength ratio to elongation for a very feeble weight (young’s Modulus, see table opposite). The excellent performance of carbon epoxy components towards aging also contributes to making it an ideal material in the making of bike frames and forks. Furthermore, carbon fibres have a different behaviour according to their orientation. The carbon composition is defined (type of fibre, orientation and quantity) for each layer in a very accurate way according to the product’s use.

LOOK has a unique know-how and the experience acquired for over 25 years that allow it to mix the different types of fibres according to the wanted properties. We know how to vary the parameters of the carbon’s composition so as to give a product the wanted performance. This is how we

DIFFeReNT TyPeS OF FIBReS :

Pre-impregnated carbon sheets exist in 2 types:

can propose two different rigidities for the 695: a Super

HR : High Resistance. Fibres obtained by the shortest carbonization. Their rigidity is the weakest in the family but they benefit of a good elongation to bursting, which makes it a useful component for the reliability of products. Products made only with HR fibres are heavier, for more materials are necessary to obtain the wanted rigidity.

Fibres woven or plaited in multiple directions.

Rigid (SR) version and a more compliant.

The carbon fibres are woven with varied motifs according to their use. These sheets are often used on the outside of moulded products for they allow homogenous support of the products and soughtafter aesthetic.

A bike like the 695 is composed of more than 432 different

HM : High Module. “Upper range” fibres. Their rigidity is very high, about twice that of HR. These fibres should however be used advisedly for they can generate more breakable products. HM fibres allow adding a lot of rigidity with little weight.

The carbon fibres are all oriented in the same direction on the sheet. Like a tube or any other carbon product it is composed of a succession of layers, on of LOOK’s main manufacturing secrets and one of its strong points, is in the choice of the orientation of the fibres for each layer. This allows obtaining very accurately the performance wanted for the manufactured part.

IM : Intermediate Fibres. They are a good complement to HM and HR, with a good resistance and an intermediate module.

18 19

Unidirectional fibre sheets also called UD

Young’s specific modulus Elastic Limit (resistance) Specific Resistance (Resistance / density)

carbon parts placed by hand before being moulded and reworked in surface preparation before the aspect finishing. More than 30 hours of highly qualified work are necessary in the elaboration of our 695 ensembles for example. The impregnated carbon sheets made in France according to LOOK’s specifications have characteristics and an implementation close to those used in aeronautics, aerospace or in automobile sports.

e-POST SeATPOST The e-Post comes in 3 versions according to the discipline followed

LOOK has developed its own patented integrated saddle stem system: the e-Post. A series of elastomers completely isolate the saddle stem from the frame: no part of the E-Post other than the elastomers is in contact with the frame. The road’s minishocks and vibrations are absorbed by the elastomers, the hardness of which is interchangeable (black elastomer = hard, red = average and grey = flexible). it thus offers personalized settings adapted to the different types of roads, to the mileage and to the cyclist’s preferences.

Flexible

Average

Hard

E-Post Ti

E-Post R5

The E-Post Ti is adapted to the road and offers a retraction of 30 mm (- 15 to - 45 mm) in relation to the saddle tube’s axis.

The E-Post R5 is advised for the MTB; it is reversible and allows retraction / advance of 5 mm.

E-Post R32 The E-Post R32 is ideal for triathletes, time trial and multi-sports runners; it is also reversible and allows retraction / advance of 32 mm.

For more personalization, the E-Post is adjustable up to 3 cm in height by adding spacers. it is thus a system that brings comfort to cyclists, offers a large range of settings and that is aesthetically very pure since no attachment is apparent.

RSP seatpost: For adepts of the traditional seatpost, LOOK launches the RSP. it takes on the aerodynamic shape of the E-Post tube, is in carbon for more comfort and lightness (only 210g). you can thanks to the RSP return to a traditional saddle stem on a frame equipped with an integrated saddle stem or with a cut saddle stem. As for the E-Post, the RSP comes in several versions (a Road version, adjustable from + or - 30 mm, and an R5 version reversible and adjustable from + or - 5 mm).

ZeD 2 CRANKSeT LOOK presents its single-piece carbon crankset: the ZeD 2. The culmination of 5 years of studies, it was designed to be as light as possible while being ultra rigid. The crankset (star + axis + handles) only weighs 320 g. it is this weight rigidity ration that is in fact a unique part and that brings an exceptional performance. This unit runs inside an oversized crankset casing of 65 mm, an exclusive LOOK product. The star of the ZED 2 crankset is compatible with all double or compact chain wheels. The star is pierced to accept the 2 axel spaces of 110 and 130 mm. LOOK has developed its own patent to arrive at this attachment system inside the star. 695, 596 and 496 models are all fitted with ZED cranksets. On the road, in triathlon or on the track, its outstanding stiffness will enable you to develop your pedalling power.

Three-lobe technology : The handles of the ZED 2 crankset are equipped with a three-lobe nut that only has to be pivoted to change the length of the handles from 170 mm, 172.5 mm to 175 mm without changing the crankset.

1

Novelty on this second generation ZED: the three-lobe nut is now compatible with all the pedals on the market.

2 Thanks to its single-piece design, the ZED 2 crankset can be threaded through the bottom bracket.

20 21

3

To optimize the performance of the ZED 2 crankset, LOOK has developed its own chain wheels with a design and rigidity adapted to the ZED 2.

HSC7 FORK The Continuous Fibre Design (CFD) concept was put in application for the design of the HSC 7 fork. We optimize the mechanical performance of the carbon fibre by reducing all the angular thresholds and variations. The effort in uniformly distributed over the whole fork. Since several years (HSC6) the tabs are moulded and compressed with the arms of the fork, which allows making the area lighter while reinforcing it. The conical pivot optimized by the CFD allows positioning the bearing directly on the fork’s head.

LOOK forks evolution

A new standard bearing 11/2 comes to improve the uniform distribution of the effort. Thanks to its 100% singlepiece design, we obtain a more rigid fork, resisting to the most severe tests while being ultra lightweight (295 gr).

C-STeM Originally designed for the 695, LOOK innovates with the C-Stem carbon stem.

C-Stem’s inclination : -9° to +13° 3

On a traditional stem, the height setting is done by adding spacers. Their accumulation lessens the lateral rigidity and moves the stem away from the headset, where the renewal of effort is located.

1 2

A single screw serves to adjust the height and to tighten the stem. The rigidity and handling are increased. For pedalling standing and for sprinting, the energy loss is lessened. The weight rigidity ratio of the C-Stem is one of the best on the market.

LOOK PRODUCTS TeSTS So as to propose to all its users, whether amateurs or professionals, products beyond reproach, LOOK has always imposed itself a very strict quality charter, pushing tests beyond standards. All our products are controlled before, during and after production, on our two production sites in Nevers and in Tunisia (our Tunisian production site is certified iSO 9001 since 2005).

Control of pedal axes LOOK axes are only validated after shock, fatigue extreme wear tests. Standard EN14781 requires rotation tests of 100 000 cycles with a load of 65 kg on the centre of the pedal. LOOK goes further and carries out a rotation test of at least one million cycles at 100 rpm with a load of 90 kg on the centre of the pedal and an off-centre rotation, which creates a shock at each rotation.

HSC 7 forks test For its new HSC 7 fork, LOOK obliges itself to always more rigor. Our quality engineers have set up in their laboratory a test recreating a frontal shock: a load of 22.6 kg is launched from a height of 744 mm on the fork’s tabs. This test is 15% superior to the standard (166 joules instead of the required 144).

LOOK continuously submits all of its frames to a series of severe tests. Resistance under lateral fatigue equivalent to 3 weeks of violent sprinting (100 kg in thrust and traction), resistance in thrust on the fork, in traction on the saddle stem, violent shocks on the frame and the forks,… etc. no torture is spared. All these tests constitute the basis of the European standard but at Look they are even fiercer. yet these laboratory tests only make up one stage in the validation of our products. Nothing replaces those obtained by the thousands of KM covered by

our teams of testers of all sizes, of all weights and with very different cycling practice levels who ride in winter and summer on the world’s roads and send us their experiences, their feelings and their comments. This database has been carefully followed-up for several years and constitutes a unique and considerable source of information for creating and fine tuning the behaviour of our bikes.

ÂŤIn Triathlon, aerodynamics and power are very important factors in the choice of a bike, and that is why I chose the 596 I-pack, which helps me to optimise my performances...Âť

AeRODyNAMICS: LOOK’S APPROACH Because aerodynamics are crucial when competing, LOOK is permanently working on improving your performance. LOOK’s engineers worked in close cooperation with the aerodynamics engineers of the of the digital wind tunnel installed on the F1 circuit of Nevers Magny-Cours so as to develop the Triathlon range. The aerodynamics works allowed abolishing one of the biases spreading throughout the cycling world bearing on the space between the wheels and the frame. LOOK was able to demonstrate through the tests carried out with the wheels in movement that the space between the branches of stays and the rear wheels favoured the airflow. The same principle

is applied between the arms of the fork and the bike’s front wheel as well as between the rear wheel and the saddle tube. The shapes of tubes were also optimised to favour the airflow. The hooking of stays on the frame is also new since it is done through the outside (plating on the frame). This technique coming from aeronautics allows increasing the areas in contact and thus the resistance and rigidity of the connection area. An aerodynamic gain of 10% could thus be measured on the 596!

Sylvain SUDRiE

AeRODyNAMICS: LOOK’S APPROACH LOOK, inventor of the automatic pedal, is the only brand capable of proposing a pedal specially dedicated to triathlon and time trial: the Keo Blade Aero. On the request of our professionnal riders, we have carried out wind tunnel tests that have allowed improving the airflow around the pedal. The adding of a carbon shell rigidifies the body and improves the aerodynamics.

The very lightweight carbon shell (only 5gr) gives the whole a very technical aspect and finish. We keep the recognized advantages of the Keo Blade: reassuring foot placing / removal, large pressing area for maximum transfer of energy.

IPACK AeRO & POWeRFUL

The 596 i-Pack was developed with one aim in mind: aerodynamics. Digital wind tunnel calculations and full-scale trials at the Nevers/Magny-Cours wind tunnel to optimise frame geometry, one-piece sub-assembly construction and VHM carbon for lightness and stiffness. The 596 i-Pack was the first bicycle in the LOOK range to have integrated components: ZED 2 crankset with Keo Blade carbon pedals, indexed carbon stem and offset aerodynamic fork, E-Post R32 integrated seat post: everything is designed to improve performance.

100% PeRFORMANT 100% TRIATHLON

The 576 is the triathlon frame in the 2012 range. it has a special geometry, with a tube angle of 78°, allowing the triathlete to take up a forward position which is both aerodynamic and comfortable for the upper body. it is extremely versatile, and will be in its element whether on hilly or flat courses. Two models are available this year: The 576 E-Post, with its integrated seat post, and the 576 RSP fitted with the non-integrated RSP R5 seat post.

« It’s a real pleasure to be able to enjoy undulating routes and rhythm changes, such as when you are attacking, when the 576 shows its explosive qualities and responds very quickly to the demands you make on it. (…) Versatility like this is very rare.» Tri Mag, May / June 2011

THe TRACK’S FORMULA ONe

in March 2011, grégory Baugé wrote a new page in track history: he won his 3rd consecutive World Speed Championship, the most sought-after track title. His new weapon was a 496 fitted with a ZED crankset modified for track racing. At only 420 grammes, the lightest track crankset in the world is nevertheless twice as stiff as its competitors! Aerodynamics have been optimised to ensure better CX (air penetration coefficient). in the search for ever greater stiffness, LOOK has once again stolen a march on its competitors.

«This bike is nothing like the others. It will be a real weapon at the Olympic Games, where the battle will be fought as much on technology as on sporting ability.» Grégory Baugé

56 57

One-piece construction

This frame’s one-piece construction ensures excellent stiffness for all the tubes, especially the bottom bracket area. The BB65 bottom bracket is «embedded» in the carbon so as to tolerate the harsh acceleration it is subjected to.

496 Frame

Aerodynamic and rigid frame, single piece carbon. Weighs only 1700gr.

496 vitesse stem

The aluminium 496 stem is exceptionally stiff. its angle can be fine-tuned using the toothed spacer system. The stem / handlebar connection is extra wide to increase stability even more. Lateral stiffness is also provided by the external handlebar collars.

Offset fork

The fork’s new design and 100% carbon structure, giving it improved lateral stiffness, provides outstanding CX (air penetration coefficient) and stability.

«Integrated» bases

The overall stiffness is increased by the method of fitting the bases together. They are not only over-sized but integrated into the circumference of the bottom bracket.

MTB

920 : Precision through integration Did you think that a full suspension MTB was short on stiffness? That integration was reserved for road bikes? That a kinematic drive caused a pumping effect? Change your mind with the new 920. LOOK is launching an entirely new generation of full suspension mountain bikes which are lightweight, stiff and offer amazing performances. For afficionados of exciting descents as well as cyclists looking for high climbing performance, LOOK offers a frame with clearance of 120 mm and geometry allowing for a «competition» position. After bringing integration to road bikes, LOOK is now doing the same for mountain bikes with its A-Stem, providing optimal steering accuracy. LOOK’s expertise in designing carbon frames is exploited to the full with the 920: here the stays are used as the pivot point, taking full advantage of the elasticity of the carbon. The result: a pivot point that is more rigid laterally and easier to service.

Integrated A-STEM The 920 innovates by incorporating our Direct Drive concept in its MTB version. The Direct Drive concept corresponds to the optimisation of all the steering station’s parameters in the aim of bringing maximal rigidity, reliability and safety to reach a maximum performance level. We arrive at this result through the use of a short and conical head tube 11/2” below and 11/8” above and the suppression of spacers since the adjustment of the handlebars’ height is now done through the use of our A-Stem reversible length setting the sections of which were clearly defined to optimise steering accuracy.

920 TeCHNOLOGy Single-pivot kinematics with “flex” stays 120mm clearance.

920 Carbon Kit : Carbon rocker

The kinematics of the 920 is of single-pivot type with tip over rocker.

The carbon rocker allows a gain of 50gr in relation to its aluminium counterpart, it is the final optimisation touch for this upper range version of the 920 on which every ounce counts.

The main pivot point was precisely positioned to obtain the desired rear wheel path, the geometry and the position of the rocker were subject to long hours of work and of numerous tests to obtain the shock absorption ratio curves and thus the desired progress for the work of the rear suspension, resulting in successful kinematics presenting easiness, a high level of rigidity and an exemplary behaviour. Our experience in the use of carbon allowed us to continue further: we replaced the pivot point located on the stays by an accurately calculated flat section that allows us to do without rolling bearing axes there, the stays bend when the suspension operates offering an unequalled level of reliability. We thus obtain a laterally more rigid stays pivot point, which is easier and does not require more maintenance.

Protections Once again, LOOK has not overlooked the protection of your MTB frame, the 920 thus has our moulded metallic protection in the diagonal tube, we have added a cable guide under the bottom bracket that acts as a “shoe” as in motorcycles as well as an aluminium protection on the right base at plates level to prevent damaging the carbon in case of chain lifts.

NATURALLy INTeGRATeD

With the 920, LOOK is offering a new generation of full suspension MTBs: a full carbon frame for exceptional lateral stiffness and lightness, with a drive allowing 120 mm of clearance for exciting descents and high performance climbs! The new height-adjustable A-stem handlebar stem guarantees absolute steering precision.

PeRFORMANCe & RIGIDITy

The 986 is a hardtail that combines comfort and performance. This exceptional combination is made possible by its rear triangle, designed to heighten comfort, and the new LOOK A-stem handlebar stem which ensures excellent steering accuracy. The front of the bike has been modified to integrate the know-how acquired during development of the 920. The use of carbon gives stiffness and lightness, making the 986 ideal for cross-country, whether in competition or touring. For more versatility, the 986 is available with a choice of seat post: the integrated LOOK E-Post or standard non-integrated post.

«This is an MTB bike designed for speed, with no time to admire the scenery or ride along slow single-track paths: the LOOK 986 is a magnificent thrills machine.» « vélo Tout Terrain, April 2011

QUARTZ Technology With Quartz pedals, LOOK brings solutions to all the constraints that micro-cleat MTB pedals can present: pressing area, weight, stability, evacuation of mud and settings adapted to crampons.

The design of the Quartz is simply revolutionary: our engineers developed a spring-less concept based on elastic deformation that allows having a pedal with an airy design for optimal evacuation of mud and good stability. The pressing area is by far the greatest for pedals of its category, also contributing to its stability. The stability is finally optimised by a cleat adjustment system unique in its type. A raiser system that comes with the pedals allows shoes’ crampons to always be in contact with the body of the pedal, and whatever brand of shoes.

58,4 mm

Finally, to answer weight requirements, LOOK uses for the Quartz Carbon Ti and Quartz Carbon models, injected carbon, to make a body extremely resistant to the cyclist’s and the ground’s solicitations. This technology, that has already proven itself on Keo road pedals, is a reference in this sector.

Plateform surface area: 380 mm2 Contact surface area: 58,4 mm The various spacers (0,5, 1.0 and 2.0 mm) included with the QUARTZ pedals allow for precise fitting to different types of shoes.
