Craig Prentice Craig joined COREcruitment from a venue, event and hospitality background having worked in some of London’s most iconic venues. Starting his working life in theatres as a trainee manager, he quickly progressed to become the youngest Theatre Manager in the West End and gained experience across a group of eight venues where he developed a passion for customer service and hospitality. Craig then went on to manage live music venue, The Forum, then onto a dual role at the London Eye looking after the hospitality operation and the wider day to day operation as duty manager where the team welcomed up to 30,000 guests in any one day. Whilst working at the Eye, he also took on an additional management position at the Roundhouse, a multi-arts venue in North London. Craig stepped into recruitment and has not looked back. Craig is part of the Catering and Events team here at COREcruitment. He particularly enjoys bringing his experience and passion for the industry to his work here at CORE.

Michelle Wells Michelle Wells is a highly motivated and passionate senior recruiter with an excellent track record in recruitment in all levels of management in hotels, bars and restaurants globally. Michelle comes from a strong restaurant operations background in South Africa, starting off at St Elmos in Hout Bay and then to the famous Mariners Wharf. Loving the hospitality industry, Michelle did her Hotel Management Diploma at Grainger Bay Hotel School and then to the bright lights of London. Michelle join the recruitment sector where she worked for another hospitality agency, mentored by Krishnan Doyle. When Krishnan took the opportunity to start COREcruitment, Michelle joined him 6 months later, focusing on Chef Recruitment. In November 2009, Michelle made the decision to come back to Cape Town and so the idea for the SA and International Division was born! Her recruitment skills are based upon understanding the needs of her clients and her candidates, always integrating with them to make the right match!

Krishnan Doyle Krishnan has over 10 year’s market experience, focussing extensively in Europe, the Middle East and South America. Coupled with his operational background, Krishnan has also studied in Hospitality, Tourism and Facility Management in Spain and Holland, achieving a joint honours degree from one of Europe’s top Business Schools. Most recently Krishnan has also achieved qualifications from the Chartered Institute of Personal Development (CIPD), the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) and an Advanced Diploma in Professional Development & Organisational Culture from a prominent London University.

OUR TEAM We have our own unique in-house training program to help develop consultants. We believe that an agency is only as good as the consultant that you are dealing with – therefore we strive to ensure expectations are exceeded at every opportunity. We are very proud that our turnover at consultant level is less than 8% over the past year and many of our staff members have been with us for at least five years

Clive Yeates Clive joined COREcruitment having previously come from a chef background working in some of London’s top rosette and Michelin restaurants. Clive then spent a year working for one of the best fine food suppliers to the Capital and the UK helping them to set up their new division getting produce direct from the Paris and Italian markets. Since becoming a consultant he has forged a strong working relationship with some of the country’s leading restaurants, Gastros and hotels and they trust his judgment to find them the perfect match for their requirements.

Oliver Griffiths Oliver is a key member of the COREcruitment team, with his extensive industry knowledge and effective recruitment process Oliver has been particularly successful at COREcruitment to date. Oliver specialises in hotels, resorts and high end fine dining restaurants. Some of Oliver’s biggest clients include Crown Plaza, Gordon Ramsay, Sushi Samba, D&D London, Hall & Woodhouse, Enterprise, Brompton Brands and more! Beatrice Forest Beatrice joined the COREcruitment team in November 2012 and successfully completed our in house training program. After a Bachelor degree in Hospitality and Tourism management, Beatrice graduated with a Master in Hospitality Management from A.I.M International Business School (Assoc. with Cornell University). After an early career in France and Canada, Beatrice decided to move to the UK in 2009. From Front of House to Assistant F&B Manager within a branded Hotel Operations Beatrice has gained an excellent knowledge of the Industry.

Recruitment PROCESS Firstly, we ensure we have authorisation to recruit. We keep regular contact with all candidates. So when a job comes in, our consultants already know what candidates would be suitable. Our system is our first port of call, we then advertise the role on over 25 different sites as well as post it all over our social media sites. All adverts will be ‘blind’, meaning it’s fairly generic and no candidate will be able to identify the company.

Upon identifying the candidate’s suitability we conduct a second telephone interview which is more specific to the job at hand. During this interview not only do we present our client in the best possible light but we feel it is important to properly brief the candidates on the vacancy and company. It is important that we match this with the reality of the job role and the problems that candidate might face.

After the candidate has completed all 3 interviews, we send their CV across to our client along with a detailed profile and breakdown about the candidate. If our client wants to interview the candidate, we will organise everything necessary to make it happen.

The next stage of our process is by initially screening a candidate by conducting a non-vacancy specific telephone conversation. This is because the candidates we register are matched on what they want to do – rather than what they apply for – this way we can find a much better long-term

If we find suitable candidates beyond this stage we then ask them to come into the office for a face to face interview. This process may seem exhaustive however; we believe this is necessary to get a complete feel of not only the candidate’s experience but their personality and work attitude.

Referrals We have a target at COREcruitment that 40% of our placed candidates will come via referrals and recommendations – good people tend to know good people. Open Days Another one of our popular methods of attracting candidates is organising an open day. Psychometrics We also have the ability to use our in house system of psychometric testing. We have found this especially useful as part of the recruitment process to double check that a candidate has the appropriate ability levels to be successful in a role.

orientated we are more geared towards actively networking with potential candidates; on networks that are more social by nature we position ourselves more from an employer branding perspective giving updates to candidates on building their ‘social work profile’ or with updates and notifications of industry news through our Twitter and RSS feeds.
