SARA PEARSON / VANCOUVER OFFICE

Sara is passionate about hospitality. She has been given the opportunity to head up COREcruitment’s North American office in Vancouver where she’s from. She spent 12 years in the UK and loved her time working with COREcruitment. Now she’s back on home turf and excited to grow the COREcruitment brand across the pond.

Priscilla has been in Hospitality Recruitment for 9 years and joined the CORE team in 2015. KLAUDIA HORACK / CAPE TOWN OFFICE

Klaudia had an early introduction to the hospitality industry both locally in SA & internationally. Planning to enter the market as a Food Photographer, she fell in love with FOH Restaurant operations & continued to hone her career through some of SA & UK most interesting groups – with a strong emphasis on operations & training. Klaudia joined COREecruitment in 2012 and was offered the role as consultant from her now Director during a pre-screening interview & never looked back!

STUART CAMPBELL / AMSTERDAM OFFICE

Stuart has worked in hospitality from the age of 18. He joined COREcrutiment in 2007 and quickly developed his desk to the go -to in the industry through hard work, dedication and industry knowledge. Stuart went on to Australia where he learnt more about international recruitment. Stuart returned to core in 2013 and now heads up our division in The Netherlands which specialises in European recruitment with his expertise that encompass, all levels of recruitment from CDP to Director of food and Assistant manager to CEO.

BEATRICE FOREST-VALENTINE / LONDON OFFICE Beatrice is our specialist consultant for the Hotel, Resort and Cruise Division. She joined COREcruitment in 2012. After a Bachelor degree in Hospitality and Tourism management, Beatrice graduated with a Master in Hospitality Management from A.I.M International Business School (Assoc. with Cornell University). After an early career in France and Canada, Beatrice decided to move to the UK in 2009. From Front of House to Assistant F&B Manager within a branded Hotel Operations Beatrice has gained an excellent knowledge of the Industry.

ARNAUD COTTIER / LONDON OFFICE Originally from France, Arnaud moved to the UK in 2004 shortly after his studies. He joined COREcruitment in 2010 after several years in the Hotels industry. Arnaud has a broad experience in recruiting in the leisure/entertainment, retail, restaurants and holidays park sectors from junior to senior managers at national and international levels.

GLOBAL COVERAGE In addition to the London Head Office, COREcruitment has rapidly expanded their presence throughout the UK and now has developed international coverage with a branches in North America, South Africa and the Netherlands which combine to create a hub for all international recruitment. THE RECRUITMENT PROCESS Firstly, we ensure we have authorisation to recruit. We keep regular contact with all candidates. So when a job comes in, our consultants already know what candidates would be suitable. Our system is our first port of call, we then advertise the role on over 25 different sites as well as post it all over our social media sites. All adverts will be ‘blind’, meaning it’s fairly generic and no candidate will be able to identify the company.

Upon identifying the candidate’s suitability we conduct a second telephone interview which is more specific to the job at hand. During this interview not only do we present our client in the best possible light but we feel it is important to properly brief the candidates on the vacancy and company. It is important that we match this with the reality of the job role and the problems that candidate might face.

After the candidate has completed all 3 interviews, we send their CV across to our client along with a detailed profile and breakdown about the candidate. If our client wants to interview the candidate, we will organise everything necessary to make it happen.

The next stage of our process is by initially screening a candidate by conducting a non-vacancy specific telephone conversation. This is because the candidates we register are matched on what they want to do – rather than what they apply for – this way we can find a much better long-term

If we find suitable candidates beyond this stage we then ask them to come into the office for a face to face interview. This process may seem exhaustive however; we believe this is necessary to get a complete feel of not only the candidate’s experience but their personality and work attitude.

We have a target at COREcruitment that 40% of our placed candidates will come via referrals and recommendations – good people tend to know good people.

Another one of our popular methods of attracting candidates is organising an open day. Essentially open days are an opportunity for potential members of staff to visit your business at one of your locations, interact with your members of staff to further our understanding of your business.

We also have the ability to use our in house system of psychometric testing. We have found this especially useful as part of the recruitment process to double check that a candidate has the appropriate ability levels to be successful in a role.

COREcruitment has adopted a 2-tier strategy: with more recruitment orientated we are more geared towards actively networking with potential candidates; on networks that are more social by nature we position ourselves more from an employer branding perspective giving updates to candidates on building their ‘social work profile’ or with updates and notifications of industry news through our Twitter and RSS feeds.

That being said it is important to maintain ‘quality control’ and brand perception. Candidates still like to be contacted personally and be treated as individuals.

We actively incentivise candidates to put us in touch with their friends, colleagues and contacts to find a higher number of ‘passive job seekers’

SOCIAL MEDIA More recently our focus has been on using social media to attract candidates. We see this as being a key area of growth for us as a business and 12 months ago we appointed an in-house web developer and SEO specialist to manage our social networks and on-line presence. It is important to embrace social networks as part of any business’s recruitment strategy.
