house of helene At House of Helene we focus of designs that are unique and Comfortable. For the Hygge project we brought the comfort and feeling of grandmas house and merged it with a modern feel and ambience.

It’s been exciting to be the design working on the designs for branding and products (that before the Grand Opening of the newest hot spot in Northern Utah. The owners came to House of Helene with their vision of an “cozy” restaurant venue. As the conceptwas in the early stages of being developed, we were tasked with creating a new logo, which entailed a good bit of research regarding the name and comcept. After presenting various logos and oped into a few variations which were applied to take away boxes, front of the building. Whether it’s the lure of the fabulous rooftop seating with a view of the city of Ogden, or the comfy cozy interior, the ambience, or the food, we hope that Hygge Restaurant will delight everyone who enters its doors for many years to come.

Interview and Research

concept. But Wiking believes it could be the missing link: the reason why Danes consistently top the world happiness rankings. While other countries have words with similar overtones— gemütlichkeit in Germany, koselig in Norway, hominess in Canada, gezellig in the Netherlands, for example— the concept of hygge is uniquely Danish says Wiking. I was particularly interested in the idea of hygge being an important element of Danish advertising. It’s not something tangible, and not something you can sell as such, but you can sell people on the idea. Everyone in Denmark wants more and more hygge, and in fact, describing an evening as ‘hyggelige’ is the greatest possible compliment you can give a Danish host. There’s an entire chapter dedicated to “Hygge on the cheap”. Hygge is for absolutely everyone. Hygge doesn’t need to cost anything, and even outside this chapter, there are plenty of ideas (and “Hygge tips”) to inspire anyone to hygge more in their own lives.

simple over posh and ambience over excitement. In many ways,

Hygge is more about emotions and socialising and feelings and togetherness than things you can buy. “There needs to be low lighting, and pockets of light, and dark corners. This, this the focus away from the individual. You don’t have to talk, but there can be music. It’s coming home after skiing all day and relaxing on the balcony, drinking “Hygge is about expanding your comfort zone to include other people, which can feel scary for some introverts,”said Meik. “But the more people there are, the less hygge it is. In a sense, that’s the dark side of hygge – Danes can be reluctant to include new people in their socialising because it can lessen the hygge. We get-out-of-jail card. If you don’t want to go out, stay in and hygge.” And then came my favourite thing Meik said: “Here’s a tip: if you don’t want to go out, just tell people you’re staying in with Hygge. They’ll assume it’s a person and they won’t ask any more questions.”
