CORINTHIA HOTEL BUDAPEST
In 1968, a dream was born on the Mediterranean island of Malta. A dream to set new standards in excellence and hospitality. A dream to break the mould in the quest for perfection. A dream dedicated to creating the ultimate guest experience. This dream became The Spirit of Corinthia and that spirit led to the creation of our first luxury hotel in Malta. That same dream that led us to open our first hotel, continues to drive the company today. From its roots as a family business, Corinthia Hotels is now one of the world’s most exciting collections of exceptional luxury hotels.
Budapest Few capitals in Europe combine intimacy with metropolitan bustle so well as Budapest.
It has the lively, easy-going atmosphere of a thoroughly modern capital city, but it is also
one steeped in history. Budapest, born of two settlements on either side of the Danube, is an architectural delight. Its palaces, churches and grand boulevards are redolent of its
imperial past as the seat of the Habsburg Empire. It is also a feast for the senses; a city where
‘East meets West’. Budapest’s historic love of coffee shops, its famed Turkish baths and its
distinct, spicy cuisine are a legacy of the East. The city is a vibrant destination offering rich
experiences from excellent shopping to world-class arts. Hungarians have a deep sense of pride in Budapest, which adds to a visitor’s stay in this unique capital.
Welcome The Corinthia Hotel Budapest, also known affectionately by its historic name, the Grand Hotel Royal, is a city landmark. Its neo-classical façade adorned with statues, columns and cupolas
has graced Budapest’s fashionable thoroughfare, ErzsÊbet Avenue, for well over a century. It has seen as many twists and turns of fate as the city itself. After decades of faded glory, the
Hotel reopened in December 2002 having been faithfully restored into a magnificent luxury hotel, now with accompanying apartments and conference centre. With its elegant and extensive
spa, gilded ballroom and lavish lobby, it once more takes centre stage, not only in this elegant
imperial yet thoroughly modern city, but also among historic hotels throughout Europe.
Lobby To enter the lobby of the Corinthia Hotel is to step from bustling street into a cathedral of white marble and gilded opulence, the classical exterior giving little hint of what lies within. The grand sweep of the reception leads into two vast atriums that welcome visitors with a sense of air, light and peace unrivalled by any of the city’s historic buildings. The lobby is a fine balance of classic Greek style and contemporary minimalism. The atriums and sumptuous lobby provide a haven in which to relax over a coffee, browse the hotel’s boutiques or plan city excursions.
Rooms With a complement of 414 spacious rooms, and 26 apartments in the adjacent ‘Royal Residence’ annex, the Corinthia Hotel Budapest has impressive accommodation suited to both leisure and business guests. Guests choose from superior and executive rooms with views over Erzsébet Avenue or facing inwards over the quiet atrium courtyards. Executive rooms are decorated in contemporary neutrals of red and gold, while superior rooms opt for richer tones of red, gold and green.
Suites As befits a grand hotel of historic stature, the Corinthia Hotel Budapest offers a luxurious range of 31 suites designed with meticulous detail to provide every amenity for the discerning guest. Junior, deluxe and ambassador suites are appointed in restful colour schemes of beige with elements of warm browns and furnished with dark-wood in classic, yet contemporary style. Suite guests have access to the full range of Executive Club facilities.
Executive Club Our Executive Club, situated just above the lobby on our business and conference floor, is a dedicated, fully-equipped, space for our business guests. With its variety of lounges including restful as well as more social areas and with its own dining facilities and bar, the Executive Club is the ultimate venue for casual or formal meetings, or for catching up on work on the fringes of a conference or leisure stay. Executive Club guests benefit from a range of complimentary privileges.
Restaurants From the rich coffee and extravagant confectionery Budapest’s cafes are famed for, to stylish bistro dining, the hotel offers an immense choice of eateries under one roof. Transport yourself eastwards with Asian fusion at the Rickshaw restaurant, or opt for the relaxed dining in our French-style brasserie. For contemporary Hungarian dining at its best, seek out Bock Bistro, headed by our award-winning chef. Select one of 200 wines from the wine shop and enoteca that form part of the bistro.
Bars The hotel has always been a fashionable place to be seen and relax in. Today, city ‘cognoscenti’ and travellers seek out its cafés, bistros, piano and wine bars, just as they did a hundred years ago. The hotel caters for the ebb and flow of the day, and its bars are open well into the early hours. Pause for a coffee in the courtyard, linger over a lavish tea in the Royal Kávéház café, and enjoy a mellow end to the day with piano music at the Bar Royal.
Conference
When it comes to providing a conference and event venue with style and ‘gravitas’, yet with all the stateof-the-art facilities, the hotel surpasses expectations. It offers a prestigious venue with total flexibility as well as a dedicated events team to help co-ordinate your programme. The hotel can accommodate conferences of up to 2,200 delegates.
Ballroom The ballroom is a masterpiece of architecture and opulent interior design and has garnered
its own place in the history books. The ballroom took on a different role for most of the 20th
century, acting as a cinema. It was here that Hungary’s first motion picture was screened.
Facilities include the historic Grand Ballroom, with 12 meeting rooms that can be combined into two large conference rooms, nine boardrooms and an Exhibition Centre that can be
converted into seven breakout rooms.
Spa In a city renowned for its health-restoring thermal waters, the Corinthia Hotel wouldn’t be complete without its own spa. The hotel’s spa, first opened in 1886, is yet another landmark within this impressive building, and at 1,000m², it is also one of Budapest’s most extensive spas. Like the ballroom, it has undergone extensive restoration to bring it back to its former glory. The Royal Spa is today a place to feel pampered in. It has all the facilities of a contemporary spa and more, including a 15m pool, jetted spas, 12 massage rooms, and a range of hot tubs and relaxation beds. Caring and professionally trained health and beauty therapists provide a full complement of treatments.
