The Power Plate machine vibrates, or moves, in three different directions. These tiny movements put the body out of balance. To correct this imbalance, the muscles unconsciously make very rapid reflex contractions. Therefore, the muscles are almost continuously contracted. As training on a Power Plate machine is so extremely effective, the time spent exercising can be reduced. Adapted from age-old training principles to form a fun, addictive, safe, stress-busting workout suitable for all ages and levels of ability. Pregnancy is the ideal time to get moving. These super-simple exercises will help to ease any pregnancy pains you may be feeling. The TRX Suspension Trainer is the original, best-in-class workout system that leverages gravity and your bodyweight to perform hundreds of exercises. You’re in control of how much you want to challenge yourself on each exercise because you can simply adjust your body position to add or decrease resistance. The kettlebell is a cast-iron weight used to perform ballistic exercises that combine cardiovascular, strength and flexibility training.

The Triathlon training programme for the beginner triathlete offers instruction and tips in the swim, bike and run and includes training logs, discussion and session planning. Regardless of your fitness level or swimming techniques, there is a workout here for you. This training will help improve your technique and increase confidence in the water. Personalised stretch session designed to work out knots and tension from muscles to leave you feeling stretched and mobilised.


POS T TRAINING NUTRITION Advice from the Fitness Team at ESPA Life at Corinthia In order to maximise training adaptations, post workout nutrition is essential. The three main areas to concentrate on are carbohydrate, protein and hydration. Carbohydrates are important to not only perform at a decent level but also to prevent us feeling lethargic and preventing illness. Carbohydrate intake has also been proven to attenuate muscle breakdown after exercise making it important for those of us who want to increase lean muscle mass. Protein is also an essential macronutrient post exercise. Research has shown milk based proteins containing significant levels of the branched chain amino acid, leucine, are important to maximise protein synthesis after exercise, helping you achieve that beach body. A combination of both in a smoothie is perfect for a post-workout snack. After your next work-out, why not try our new ‘Cocoleano’ protein shake in The Spa Lounge. MEET RENÉE BLANCHARDT ND, BSC, ADV. DIP HSC, DRMTH Wellness Manager & Naturopath We are proud to announce the appointment of Renée Blanchardt as our Wellness Manager and Naturopath at ESPA Life at Corinthia. Renée is responsible for tailoring each wellness programme according to the needs and desired outcome of our individual clients at ESPA Life at Corinthia. She also manages our team of doctors and alternative medical practitioners and continues to fulfil her role as a Naturopath. Renée works on the philosophy that “the latest scientific research should be combined with the ancient traditional healing arts to provide concerted preventative wellness programmes. By analysing patients’ dietary and lifestyle choices, we can craft bespoke treatments to enhance their wellbeing and health, through restoring balance between the body and nature.” As a Naturopath, she primarily focuses on nutrients and the body’s varying ability to assimilate them. In combination with functional medicine investigations of the body’s relevant biological functions, as well as diet and lifestyle, Renée can then shape individualised and focused support. Her prescriptive advice ranges from food choices and combinations, to massage and hydrotherapy, to exercise and mindfulness techniques, to supplements and homeopathic preparations.


Renée also has experience working with a myriad of ailments and intolerances, including adrenal fatigue, thyroid conditions, and gastrointestinal disorders, and she successfully leads individuals and groups in cellular detoxification, stress management and weight management programmes. As an English-Australian dual citizen, Renée graduated with a double science degree from the Australian College of Natural Medicine, as a Classical Homeopath and Naturopath. After her graduation, Renée started her career in the UK as a clinic supervisor in naturopathic nutrition and has since consulted internationally in countries including Germany, India, Cambodia, Indonesia, Australia, and Thailand. She is also a 500-hour registered Yoga Instructor (Rishikesh, India). Longevity and wellness are Renée’s passions both in and out of work, and she enjoys regularly detoxing, applying food as medicine, and partaking in Yoga, swimming, skiing, travel, and culture. DID YOU KN OW? By the Wellness Team at ESPA Life at Corinthia Often the first fruit to appear in the summer, strawberries are ideal to hydrate from a long summer’s day. With a cooling thermal nature, they can be used to quench thirst, as well as soothe sore throats and hoarseness. These summer favourites are also beneficial to the spleen and pancreas and can improve appetite or be eaten on an empty stomach to treat poor digestion. Along with a host of other health benefits, when strawberries are cut and rubbed onto the teeth and gums, they can strengthen them, remove tartar and reduce stains. Finally, they are a rich source of vitamin C and are useful for arterial and connective tissue repair. The seeds too are a good source of unsaturated fatty acids and fibre due to their silicon content. The best way to enjoy strawberries is to wash and eat them fresh on their own or with plain yoghurt for a healthy combination of high fat protein with an acid fruit. Ensure to source your strawberries organically to avoid high levels of pesticides.
