Cork Learning Neighbourhoods is a key project that connects the Learning City with citizens in local communities. A Learning Neighbourhood is an area that is constantly strengthening its practice in learning, providing a diversity of learning opportunities for the whole population through partnership and collaboration. These are communities where learning, in all its forms and for all ages, is acknowledged and celebrated at local level. Learning Neighbourhoods highlight and celebrate existing inclusive local learning initiatives, as well as creating new ones. There are now six Learning Neighbourhoods, having begun on a pilot basis in two neighbourhoods, Ballyphehane and Knocknaheeny in 2015, the initiative has since been expanded to include Togher, Mayfield, South Parish and The Glen, with more neighbourhoods to come. In each of these Learning Neighbourhoods, local coordinating groups plan and run events during the Festival, and throughout the year. It is all about celebrating learning and trying new things, making new connections, having fun and communities working together to benefit all residents. Each of the Learning Neighbourhoods have lots on offer and are delighted with the opportunity to show what’s happening throughout the Festival week. Why not go along and find out more at some of the over 100 events in these areas: • Ballyphehane • Knocknaheeny • Mayfield • Togher • South Parish • The Glen
