Now Clog is a Dutch shoe, don’t you know, and to Ireland on holiday, she wanted to go. So she bought a ticket straight away, and was on a flight the following day.
She came to Ireland to have fun and to play, for a week or two she planned to stay. But when she arrived in Dublin town, she needed somebody to show her around.
“I’ll need someone that knows the way, and I hope has lots and lots to say. Someone who’ll show me plenty to see, and one, of course, that fits with me.”
To Meath Clog went as it was fairly near, at a concert in Newgrange, she met an Ear “Hello”, said Ear, “the music’s delightful, what brings you here and please be insightful.”
“I’ve been looking for someone to show me around, since I arrived on Irish ground.”
“Aha” said Ear “that‘s good to know, and I really hope you enjoy the show, but I’m not the one for you, that’s sure as you’ll need someone who’s on the floor.”
After that to Kilkenny Clog fled, where at a hurling match, she met a Head Clog said to Head “the hurling’s really fast, I’ve not seen a game like this in the past”
“What brings you here” said Head to Clog, “to Kilkenny from Holland is quite a slog.”
“I’ve been looking for someone to show me around, since I arrived on Irish ground.”
“Aha” declared Head, “it won’t be me, I need a hat, not a shoe” said he. “You’ll need to travel west from here, to find someone to give you a steer.”
To Dingle Clog went and to her surprise, down at the pier, she met some Eyes. On a Sunday morning, teaching kids to draw, a dolphin in the water is what they saw.
“What brings you west to Kerry” said the Eyes, “and tell me the truth and tell me no lies.”
“I’ve been looking for someone to show me around, since I arrived on Irish ground.”
“I would”, said the Eyes, “when I finish my classes, but I can’t really see since I lost my glasses.”
“Travel north from here but do that fast it’s there you’ll meet a companion at last”
To Galway next, is where Clog chose eating dinner in town, she met a Nose.
“Fáilte Romhat!” said Nose as Clog walked in, “sit down and eat up, if you’d like to tuck in.” “Why did you come here to our lovely town? it’s not often we get many Clogs around.”
“I’ve been looking for someone to show me around, since I arrived on Irish ground.”
“Really!” said Nose, “I won’t be the one, I’ve a cold you see and I’m starting to run.”
“Further north you should go, a county or two, it’s there you’ll find someone to direct you.”
It was in Donegal next where the Clog met a Hand, while walking on a beach, playing drums in a band. “Keep to the beat”, to the Clog said the Hand, “and try to keep up and don’t fall in the sand.”
“What brings you here to listen to our song, and please tell me quick, I don’t have too long.”
“I’ve been looking for someone to show me around, since I arrived on Irish ground.”
“Well, I could do that, but we won’t be a hit, I think someone else will be a better fit.”
“You should leave Donegal I’d say at least, and if I was you, I would travel east.”
East Clog went, without any doubt, to see if there was a guide about.
T’was in a céilí in the middle of Belfast, that the Clog met a Foot dancing round very fast. He was dancing to the music but was all alone, Clog wanted to dance but needed to be shown.
“I’ve been looking for someone to show me around, since I arrived on Irish ground.”
“I’ve been waiting for you to come for so long, I need a partner to dance along to this song.” “Come join me now and move to the beat, Clogs are good on their own..........
