Hundreds March in Solidarity Against Sexual Violence By KRITIKA OBEROI Sun Staff Writer
About 200 students and Ithaca community members marched down to the Commons to “Take Back the Night,” showing solidarity against sexual violence and speaking up in support of survivors. The night, which brought together students from Cornell, Ithaca College and local high schools, as well as City of Ithaca residents, ended with a candlelight vigil. Cries like, “People unite, take back the night!” rang through the air as students and locals led three separate marches to Dewitt Park from Cornell, Ithaca College and the Greater Ithaca Activities Center. Two Men Stabbed In Ithaca Over Weekend Two men were reportedly stabbed in the City of Ithaca this weekend, according to Ithaca Police. The first victim, a 35-year-old Ithaca resident, was found Saturday at approximately 9:44 p.m. bleeding heavily from a stab wound to the neck, according to an Ithaca Police Department report. The incident occurred around the 400 block of West State Street, and the man was transported to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, N.Y., for treatment, according to IPD. His injuries were serious, but not expected to be life-threatening, IPD said in the report. The second victim, a 17-year-old male, was allegedly stabbed in the back Sunday afternoon during a fight on the 600 block of Chestnut Street, according to IPD. The victim was uncooperative with police and refused to provide information, IPD said.
