Students Criticize ‘Blurred Lines’ By LAUREN BERGELSON Sun Staff Writer

Among this year’s additions were activities held on Ho Plaza and in Willard Straight Hall, which hosted the Cornell Pep Band, various dance troupe performances, an a cappella show, an Athlete Dunk Tank, a scavenger hunt and more. Singer-songwriter Robin Thicke’s song Blurred Lines has been criticized by some as promoting rape culture and even banned by several universities in the United Kingdom recently. In response to the criticisms of his song, Thicke has defended the song on The Today Show, saying that “it’s actually a feminist movement within itself.” “[The song is] saying that women and men are equals as animals and as power. It doesn’t matter if you’re a good girl or a bad girl, you can still have a good time,” he said. Students, however, disagreed, saying Thicke’s song presents more complex problems. Melissa Frank ’14, president of Consent Ed, said “Blurred Lines” promotes non“I think that a lot of songs consensual sex. “I think that a that we listen to promote lot of songs that rape culture, and this one in we listen to proparticular, after reading [the mote rape culture, and this lyrics], definitely does.” one in particular, after reading [the Melissa Frank ’14 lyrics], definitely does,” Frank said. Homecoming ’13 a Weeklong Affair Festivities for Homecoming lasted all week this year, instead of just the weekend By ALISHA FOSTER Sun Contributor
Homecoming at Cornell used to be a weekend celebration — but this year, festivities lasted all week long. Like in past years, major events included a fireworks and laser show, the Big Red Fan Festival and a concert that, this year, featured 90’s hit band Third Eye Blind. However, several new events also made an entry this year due to an outpouring
of campus club participation. Traditionally limited to Thursday and the weekend of the Homecoming game, activities this year were offered Monday through Sunday, according to Terry Hahn, director of affinity programs. This summer, the Homecoming committee reached out to different organizations across campus about sponsoring events. According to Michaela Moody, assistant director of undergraduate affinity programs,

Hailing from Morocco but also having lived and worked in Brooklyn, N.Y., Griguihi said the café’s menu will feature Moroccan tea made with mint and green tea, according to The Ithaca Journal. “I am going to build the menu based See BONJOUR page 5
