Thankful for the life of Prof. Ron Meyers Ron Meyers, associate professor of science and chair of the Kinesiology, Science & Mathematics Division at Cornerstone University, died Oct. 19 after a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Meyers, who taught at Cornerstone since 1979, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in February 2007 after experiencing intense abdominal pain. Despite weeks of chemotherapy, Meyers returned to Cornerstone to teach a full load of classes for the 2007-2008 school year. Meyers earned his bachelor's degree from Cedarville University. “The Lord has led me through quite an incredible experience recently,” he wrote on his Cornerstone faculty Web page. “But, through it all I can say that ‘God is good.’" He chronicled his journey on his CarePage titled ronmeyers at www.CarePages.com. Student Caller Thankful for CU Donors Each October, students call alumni and friends of Cornerstone University to ask for a financial gift to support various campaigns and the annual fund. This year, 17 students helped make those calls. Maybe you spoke with one of them. Renee, a communications major from Middleville, MI has called for the phonathon for the past two years and enjoys talking with CU alumni and friends. When asked what she liked most about the phonathon, Renee said, "What I find most interesting about the phonathon is the communication, interaction, and response that takes place when calling. We hear some really sad situations of economical struggle. However, we also have others tell us why they are more than excited to give. I have learned from a lot of alumni, parents, and friends of Cornerstone that our campus has really changed over time. I talk to donors who have been supporting Cornerstone for years and years, all for different things. No matter what the cause, they have always been willing to reach out using their monetary gifts, becoming involved in some way, or simply through prayer." Renee also said, "I think it is important that alumni and friends support CU through a financial gift because it shows they want to still be involved in some way and put their gift towards the growth of
