Workaholic Inquisitive Versatile Fast Learner Team Player Dreamer Fortune Teller

I like to consider myself as someone who is constantly juggling between being an artist and a designer. And this reflects in the work I do. I have an illustration/graphic design background, with an enhanced interest in vivid colors and typography. I believe that the right balance of contrasts can create magic and have the power to be memorable. I like to stay true to myself, while constantly exploring and pushing the borders. I work with dedication and commit to provide a high standard and quality of work in any job. Through my work, I wish to provide a combination of eye candy, along with food for thought. After all, our life needs some flavor and nutrition for the soul as well. :)

I was assigned to create artwork for an exhibit that shows a "map" of a day in my life. I have shown this through a customized pinball table that represents various aspects of my day as I play through it. I personally find pinball games highly exciting, unpredictable, fun and addictive which is how I see a day in this life.

The compositions were created using the method of data bending, where glitches are created in the basic codes of a file to generate new visual forms. All colors and compositions were generated by the computer automatically without the use of any creative design software. A hex editor was used to modify the codes of black and white image files, which ended up with these results

This album is in the form of an audio CD and I create the entire package. This includes the design, art direction of the disc and the print elements. The entire process involves conducting photoshoots, setting the art direction and compiling them all into a final tangible piece of art.

ANAMORPHIC PUBLIC ART

For my graduation project I worked as the part of the Art in Transit project, in collaboration with the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation. The aim of the project was to create artistic interventions at the Peenya metro station, situated on the Green Line of Bangalore Metro. Through the course of this project, I explored the creation of artwork on the massive station staricases, and in process create anamorphic artwork that changed it’s form with the movement of the passerby.

D A B C A A The artwork I had initially proposed to create dealt with the ideas of change, contrast and new perspectives. This led me to a series of anamorphic art experiments and interventions on the staircases of Peenya Metro Station. Based on these experiments and research, I also created a concise reference guide on anamorphic stair art, that can be used to execute similar artwork on other similar sites

ART IN TRANSIT: EXHIBITION BRANDING As part of the Art in Transit Project, I designed the visual identity and collaterals to be exhibited at the first work in progress exhibition at the Peenya Metro Station. This includes illustrations that went on banners, posters and other elements across the exhibition.

ORIGINAL DISTORTION PA P E R I N S TA L L AT I O N This was an art installation initiated as part of a project in college. We had to use patterns as a form, and we were restricted to paper as the medium. We also had to made sure that the final piece had a political ideology connected to it. I was looking at the idea of plagiarism, which is like a distorted replica of the original image. This installation is reflective, and it distorts the image of the viewer, instead of showing the orginal image. It is like a mirror which does not show the true reflection of the person but one which is broken up.

TYPOGRAPHY ASSORTED

I was always very interested in exploring typography beyond a 2D plane, so I started playing around with letterforms and words in a 3D digital space, to see what I could come up with. These are a few glimpses of the directions I went in, and the outcomes of those trials.

This is a series of digital and matte paintings that I created. Environments and perspective in particular always interested me, so I tried my hand at creating new illustrated fictional and abstract spaces.

TREASURED ISLAND I L L U S T R AT I O N

In this collaborative project, a group of 18 people designed a new edition of the book “Treasured Islands” – an out-of-print environmental education textbook for teachers (grade 6-8), which has been put forward by the Department of Education as a classroom resource. The 1st edition was published by Kalpavriksh and ANET in 1999 and is now out-dated. The task was to redesign the layout of the book with new additional content, create contemporary illustrations and a fresh visual identity that is sensitive to the context in which the book will operate. These are some of the illustrations I created while I was a part of a textbook re-design project. These illustrations appear on the opening spread of every chapter of the book.

I worked on a Graphic Novel/Visual Narrative which was based on human phobias and the presence of fear in our life. This book illuminates the experience and the feelings of fear induced by the ordinary and bizzare things around us. It makes the reader question and empathize with the ones who suffer from these phobias.

“THE OVERCOM

SELF BRANDING On the occasion of finishing my graduation course, I decided to create a new visual identity for myself. Through this branding I wanted to depict the essence of my work. A lot of people have told me how my work is very appealing to the eye, so I started working with the idea of eye candy. I also like a lot of play between the various elements of the image, so I made multiple versions of the visuals for the business cards and the pamphlet. I worked with idea of a lollipop because I feel that my work has the crunch succulent taste that one could expect from the experience of eating a lollipop. The collaterals included business cards, and a self promotion pamphlet.
