Merry Christmas! Isn’t the Christmas Season SO great!? I love it. Christmas is about the light of Christ coming into this world to shatter the darkness and to bring life to everyone. We will be looking at the Christmas story, but also how we get to live the Christmas Story this season. Living Christmas Each week, we challenge you to focus on one way to live the Christmas Story. To live the Lite Brite Christmas Story means that we live in a way that shines the light and life and love of Jesus Christ. Here are a few ideas to choose from: Help an ‘Oldie but Goodie”: You likely have an elderly man, woman, or couple in your neighborhood. My guess is that if you offered to help them, they wouldn’t resist. Go for it. Spy Gift: Bless one person each day this week without any strings attached, without him or her knowing or anyone else seeing you. Say yes: This week, your parents, siblings, friends, peers, teachers or superheroes will ask you to help them. With a smile on your face, say, “Yes.” Give the gift of your presence: There are a lot of people who live in care facilities and would welcome a visitor. With your family, go to Alderwood or St. Francis and visit with residents. If you don’t know what to say, ask questions: “How long have you lived in Bellingham? Do you have family here? What do you like to do? What are some great Christmas memories?” Experience tells me that you will like this more than you think you might. People Matter: There are students in your schools that are usually alone. Initiate conversation with them, sit with them, eat with them, hangout with them during lunch, basically notice them as human beings and show them that they matter. Written Words: Each day, write an encouraging note to somebody. Unplug: Each day, spend 30 minutes unplugged…from TV, internet, music, game systems, phones, etc…and spend time with God (reading the Bible or praying) and investing in your relationship with your family. Fast: Do not eat breakfast or lunch or dinner or some combination and allow the hunger pains to remind you to pray for those in our community and across the globe who regularly go without.

Week 1, Day 4 Family Time Christmas Light Trivia When people first started putting up Christmas lights, what did the lights represent? Get it Started • What is your most vivid memory in a dark place (cave, tunnel, power blackout, night)? • How do you feel different in darkness and light? Pray God, you are so generous and kind to me and I really don’t deserve that. Thank you so much. Please teach me about who you are through the parts of Luke that I will be reading this month. Amen. Read John 1:1-5 1. Who is “the light” who comes into the darkness? 2. According to this verse, what comes with the light? 3. What questions do you have? Jesus Christ left heaven to go after His children, you and me, who were running away from Him as they/we lived in sin. He was born into the world, God in the flesh, and while here, before He died for our sin, He said that we will never walk in darkness. We have received an incredible gift and we have the incredible opportunity to share this gift, the light of God with others. Live Lite Brite Christmas Activity: Cornwall at the Mall On Dec 11 from 5-8:30pm, we will head to Bellis Fair Mall as a church and buy gifts for children who would otherwise not get gifts. Shine His light this Christmas season by giving a gift to the Community Toy Store. Greater Joy Challenge As you participate in Cornwall at the Mall, invite a friend or family member to give a gift to a child in need, INSTEAD of giving a gift to you.
