DID YOU KNOW THAT A SHED DOES NOT NEED A BUILDING PERMIT IF IT:

• not more than 15 m 2 in gross area,

• not more than one storey in building height,

• not attached to a building or any other structure,

• used only for storage purposes ancillary to a principal building on the lot, and

• does not have plumbing

Please note: The above exemption applies to sheds ONLY. Decks greater than 10m2 still require building permits. Applicable law such as zoning, MTO and RRCA will still apply to sheds 15m2 and less.
