SVTC’s Shrek the Musical Jr. cast gearing up for opening night Alycia Douglass Special to TC Media CORNWALL, Ontario - With just 3 short weeks until opening night, rehearsals for the Seaway Valley Theatre Company’s production of Shrek the Musical Jr. are well underway. Based on the 2001 DreamWorks film Shrek and William Steig’s 1990 book Shrek!, the play promises something for everyone. “It appeals to a broader audience,” said director Michael DeWolfe. “It’s an easy sell for parents and older siblings, but it’s also easy for kids to sit through and watch.” DeWolfe says he was aware that a Broadway adaptation of the film existed, but until recently, wasn’t familiar with any of the music. “I wasn’t sure how good the music
was, so I listened to it and immediately fell in love with it,” said DeWolfe. “Now I’m kind of jealous that the kids get to do it and the adults don’t.” Thanks to Musical Theatre International’s Broadway Collection, directors like DeWolfe are able to take bigger musicals and condense them to only an hour, which happens to work perfectly for SVTC’s younger group. Featuring a cast of 52 young performers, ages 7 through 18, there’s no shortage of energy in this production. In her fifth year working the children’s group, SVTC musical director Stephanie St. Louis says that channelling this energy is one of her favourite parts of directing the younger group. “They each bring their own personality to the part,” said St. Louis. “It’s actually easier in many ways to work with younger age groups
because limitations don’t exist in their minds.” As the cast ramps up for opening night, DeWolfe says that preparation is key. “We get four runs before we perform,” said DeWolfe. “That’s when we add the costumes, lights, sound. It’s a hectic week, but it’s really fun. We prepare them as much as we can with all the dancing and singing elements, so when we put all the elements together, there’s very little to worry about.” “It’s always so exciting,” said St. Louis. “It changes the atmosphere, it changes their focus, and in general, shifts the dynamic of the group, performance-wise.” The show will run from Dec. 3 to, and tickets are available to purchase online, at the United Way, as well as at the door.

GIAG one of the United Way’s community heroes
Some of the local youth supported by the GIAG, a United Way supported organization. with him at all times. He started attending the Youth Program offered by Glengarry Inter Agency Group. When he first arrived his mother informed the program facilitators about his challenging behavior. During the program the young boy was treated the same as the other participants, following the same rules and enjoying the same activities as everyone else at the Centre. One day shortly after starting at the Youth Program, the extremely excited boy came into the Centre announcing to the facilitator that he had spent the entire day at school. Two weeks later he announced that he no longer needed an assistant by his side and now attended class on his own. This was a huge step for him. He thanked the Youth Program for always having faith in him and treating him the same as everyone else. Together we can provide positive change in our community; together your dollars can help local people in our community; together we can impact our community significantly. Together we are possibility.

The Township of South Stormont is performing a HOUSEKEEPING REVIEW of its zoning by-law. An AGRICULTURAL ZONING REVIEW will also be presented at the open house. Potential subject areas for review: • Updating mapping with recently designated Provincially Significant Wetland boundaries and harmonizing the by-law with recent provincial legislation. • Reviewing regulations related to agricultural lot sizes, setbacks, and urban agriculture. • Reviewing General Provisions including regulations for waterfront development, home-based businesses, parking, permitted projections and secondary suites. • Correcting formatting/mapping errors and clarifying language • Other topics as identified through the review and suggested through public consultation. A public open house will take place on November 22, 2016, 5pm - 8pm at the Township of South Stormont Community Hall, 2 Mille Roches Road, Long Sault. Staff will give a formal presentation at 7PM. Additional materials will be available at the Open House and posted on the Township website (southstormont.ca) following the meeting. A formal public meeting under the Planning Act will be scheduled at a later date. The proposed zoning amendment would affect all properties within the Township. For more information about this matter, including information about preserving your appeal rights, contact Peter Young, Director of Planning/EDO at peter@southstormont.ca or call 613-534-8889 ext 205.

The parade will proceed west along Second Street, passing Pommiers Jewelers and ending at Augustus Street. The parade will then head over to the Cornwall Civic Complex and end there with an awards ceremony. This is the parade’s 45th year and this year the theme is “A Disney Christmas.”

Which is better, the book or the movie? Susan Wallwork ~ Off the Shelf swallwork@sdglibrary.ca
With so many movies based on books in theatres right now, it got me thinking about this question. It used to be, without hesitation, I would say the book was better. Immersing yourself in a book for hours and days, couldn’t compare with a two-hour movie. But these days, I’m not so sure. Sure, technology and special effects allow movies to capture more details which helps to bring the stories to life. And creating mini-series
or multiple movies allows a more complete version of the book or series to be told. But there is something more. There can be a range of emotions you feel when you finish a really good book – disappointment that it’s over, warmth about a good story, satisfaction or happiness with how it ended (or maybe not!). Sometimes, you just want it all to continue – the movie version can be a way to extend the connection to the characters and story. Instead of comparing the book to the movie, these days I look at them as complementary. I
can’t wait to get re-absorbed in Girl on the Train, see the interpretation of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, and relive the story of Inferno. And sometimes, I pick up on connections that I hadn’t noticed or remembered when reading. Don’t get me wrong, there are still some disappointments, but overall it provides an opportunity to prolong my experience with the characters I got attached to. The SD&G County Library’s collection is full of both books and movies based on books. Borrow both today and let us know what you

GLENGARRY, Ontario - This past summer’s SD&G OPP Golf Tournament was a success and allowed the SD&G OPP detachment to donate $17, 000 to different youth organizations in Glengarry. Four organizations received donations on Nov. 1. The first was the Alexandria chapter of the Jumpstart Foundation which received $4, 000. Jumpstart provides funding for area youths requiring assistance to participate in sports programs. Alexandria Canadian Tire owner Dennis Tallon stepped up to the plate and matched the funds raised, bringing the grand total to $8,000. Le Centre Culturel “Les trios ptits points” also received $4, 000. The Centre presents an annual youth talent contest and the donation will go to this year’s show. “Art for Joy” is spearheaded by the Alexandria Richelieu Club and will provide funding to youth wishing to learn in the arts (music, theatre…etc) and they received $2, 500. There was $2, 500 which was presented to the Youth Centre. Falling under the umbrella of the Glengarry Inter-Agency Group (GIAG), the Centre located in Alexandria, provides a safe haven for area youths to attend and partake in healthy lifestyle activities. The funds will be used to enhance programming offered at the Centre.
MARC BENOIT, SPECIAL TO TC MEDIA CORNWALL, Ontario - Today marks 98 years since the armistice, that ended the First World War, came into force. With ceremonies planned across Canada, and the Commonwealth, and with the familiar poppy adorning almost everyone’s lapel, today is a day long known for mourning, and respecting the sacrifice others others have made. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 297 held a dinner to honour those very individuals in our community on the evening of November 10, 2016. The annual dinner saw over 200 attendees, and was organized by branch president Linda Fisher, and her dedicated team of volunteers. “Tonight is a way of thanking those who served our country,” said Fisher. “And, to remember those who didn’t come home.” On hand for the evening as the guest speaker, was Lt. Col. Richard Perreault. Perreault is an active duty officer serving in public affairs for National Defense, in Ottawa. Perreault was honoured to speak to the crowd at the Legion on Wednesday night. “I’m hoping that hearing from someone who is currently serving, they will maybe give them some hope that whatever sacrifices were made are not forgotten and will not be forgotten,” said Perreault. However, the evening truly belonged to the many veterans who had come out to show
their support for one another, and to be with their community. Andre “Andy” Charlebois, who served in the border region between the Netherlands and Germany and was one of the veterans in attendance at the dinner. “I was a private, I was overseas for two years. I have some stories that I think, should be told. I think every store from the war should be told,” said Charlebois “I was wounded and before I got wounded in the war I was sharing a trench with another fellow...we were from Montreal. He got wounded, so I was left alone in the trench. For four days I had no replacement, and I didn’t ask for one,” said Charlebois. “ At the end of four days I got a replacement. I wasn’t very lucky, all he did was pray all the time. I have nothing against prayer, but I was hoping for something braver than me.” Today also marks the end of an important fundraiser for veterans and supporters of the Legion. The annual poppy drive is a key source of funding for the services provided to veterans by Legion branches across the country. “Without the support of the Cornwall citizens, we wouldn’t have a poppy drive. With their donations, and they’ve been very generous again, we’re able to help our veterans who are in need,” said Fisher. “It goes a long way for homeless veterans, a lot of people aren’t aware we have homeless veterans. We have several.”

La Citadelle students go the extra mile to stop distracted driving La Citadelle student Adam Pilgrim stands with his teacher Manon Piché. Adam has signed the pledge to not drive while distracted (Nick Seebruch/ Seaway News). Nick Seebruch
created a video warning of the dangers of distracted driving. “They are at the age when they’re just starting to drive and it is a good time to start forming good habits,” said La Citadelle Principal Julie Charland. “If what they do helps to save even one life, then it will be worth it.” The student’s event was a part of the CCPS’s Distracted Driving Challenge. During Crime prevention Week, CCPS is challenging the residents of Cornwall to sign the pledge and share it on social media to raise awareness on the dangers of distracted driving.

When Dominion supermarket manager Victor Desgroseilliers and his wife returned to their Cornwall bungalow on the evening of Nov. 22, 1955 they were confronted by two strangers, one brandishing a revolver, the other packing a sawed-off shotgun. It would become, at the time, the start of the most brazen armed robbery carried out in Cornwall. One that terrorized the Cornwall family and had the 46-year-old manager fearing for his life. The husband and wife were quickly herded into the kitchen with other members of the family who were bound and gagged. The telephone line had been cut. The manager was ordered to turn over the keys to the store and the safe combination. Fearing for his family, he complied. The masked man with the shotgun left but soon returned. He couldn’t get the safe to open and accused the manager of tricking him. It was decided that the manager would go to the store with the two men, leaving the others tied up in the kitchen. He was blindfolded before leaving the house. At the store the manager opened the safe and the two men quickly scooped out the Saturday receipts - $15,000 in cash and $3,000 in cheques. A considerable amount in 1955. What one of the men said sent a chill down the manager’s spine. “Can we get rid of him now?” asked the man with the handgun. The other, who was in charge, answered, “No. We don’t have enough time.” After tying up the manager, the two fled the store. It was 5:22 a.m. Soon after Desgroseilliers freed himself and called city police. The next day one of the men, with local connections, was arrested. He would be found guilty and given a 10-year prison sentence. He refused to identify his partner. But the family picked the second man out of a photo lineup. He was Louis Allan Molnar, a Brantford, Ont. man described by the Toronto media as an international playboy whose
24-year-old girlfriend was the attractive daughter of Toronto multi-millionaire Charles LeBine who made his fortune in the mining business. Molnar was put on the RCMP’s most wanted persons list. Months later police discovered Molnar, now married to Rita Ann LeBine, who was pregnant, was camped out in Mexico. He was returned to Canada in November 1956 and charged with the armed robbery. He was soon out on $20,000 bail and represented by high-powered criminal lawyer Royden Hughes. After a four-day trial that started on Aug. 22, 1957, Judge George Brennan found Molnar not guilty. During the trial Hughes made the lack of absolute identification of his client the cornerstone of his case for a not guilty verdict. “Identification should be definite,” noted the judge who said the Crown’s case was weak. Molnar and his wife walked out of the court house arm-in-arm. “I want to get home (Toronto) and take care of our new puppy dog,” she told reporters. SPORTS STUFF Defending champs are rare in the NHL these days. The last team to win back-to-back Stanley Cups was Detroit (1997 and 1998). And, from 1973 to 1983 three teams (Canadiens, Islanders and Flyers) hogged the prized cup with the Habs and Islanders winning four straight. .... Congrats to Brian Mulligan, retired Cornwall Speedway track announcer, on being inducted into the Canadian Drag Racing Hall of Fame. He is also a member of the Cornwall and South Stormont sports halls. TRIVIA ANSWER Tamblyn Drug Store was on the northeast corner of Pitt and Second streets. It was part of the King George Hotel block. TRIVIA This men’s wear store was on the southeast corner of Pitt and Second streets. It was opened by a Cornwall family in 1919. The family also owned a men’s clothing store in Kingston. THIS AND THAT Talk about financial comebacks. When the Clintons left the White House in 2001, Hillary, with a straight face, said in a television interview that the family wasn’t just broke, but “dead broke.” Today, Bill and

A week later the forecast was for more sunny weather, so we headed back to the Adirondack lakes. To our surprise, the maples had caught the sumac’s fire. What a contrast from the lack of colour range of the previous week! The yellows of the birches joined in with the maples. Once again, after several days of taking in the colour changes, we headed home, only to return to the higher elevations a week later. The high winds of the intervening week had stripped most of the maples and birches of their colourful foliage. But all was not lost, for it was the time for
other trees to take centre stage; the rusty brown foliage of the beech and oak had arrived, along with the brilliant yellow of the wispy-limbed tamaracks. It’s not only nature that undergoes dramatic changes of colour. Throughout parts of the fifty states, other colours were changing. Democrat blue was changing to Republican red, with hardly any suggestion of green remaining. Change is inevitable – but not always for the good. However, there’s always a spring to look forward to.

Designated in 2006, Cornwall’s Heritage committee, Heritage Cornwall, believed this Locomotive was important to designate. Designation in the province of Ontario “allows municipalities and the provincial government to designate individual properties and districts in the Province of Ontario, as being of cultural heritage value or interest.” When a property is designated, it means that “the municipal council has the responsibility to protect buildings and properties that are of cultural significance.” When the Locomotive was designated in 2006 both Cornwall’s Heritage Committee and City Council had to pass the designation. By passing the designation through, both of these committee’s felt the need to protect and continue to
express the importance and significance of Cornwall’s Locomotive #17. When any community decides to designate a property, in my opinion, they are making a vow to protect it. Both Heritage Cornwall and City Council felt the need to protect Locomotive #17 in 2006, and I believe that vow should still be kept today. When I saw what the budget needed in order to repair the Locomotive (estimated around $100,000), I shook my head. Some Councillors were unhappy with the number, but in the moment I read it, I said to myself, “If you don’t want heritage matters to be expensive, fix them as they become an issue, not decades after the fact.” I believe this situation needs to be viewed as an example. In my eyes, this Locomotive represents the exact issue Cornwall has faced for many years. Cornwall has lost many
of it’s heritage properties to fires and other unpredictable tragedies, but it has lost a lot of it’s properties to neglect, lack of care, and lack of vision. I can list countless examples of properties I believe should still be standing in this city, but aren’t: Cornwall’s beautiful Post Office (at Pitt and Second), the Cornwallis Hotel, and many will argue that the Capitol Theatre could be on this list. When I see a piece of history like Locomotive #17 that has been sitting in the same area of town for the last twenty years, and learn that it may be used as scrap metal, my mind shifts to everything Cornwall has lost. We do not need to lose more historic properties or artifacts. We need to learn how to save them. Sara Lauzon Cornwall’s Little Historian

On November 14, 2016, City Council began discussing budgets for 2017. In this discussion, I noticed commentary about Locomotive #17, situated on Brookdale Avenue. (It is located on the South East corner of Brookdale and Ninth Streets.) Among the discussion was the comment about the Locomotive being an“eyesore.”As much as I admire the person who said this, I did not admire their comment. Cornwall’s Locomotive #17 was built in August of 1930 by Baldwin-Westinghouse, in Philadelphia. It was purchased by Cornwall’s Street Railway Light and Power Company in 1962. Cornwall used this Electric Motor to move freight cars along the city streets. This Locomotive is one of four to still exist in Canada. On April 1, 1977, the Canadian National Railway donated Locomotive #17 to the City of

Regnier said, “We started this event to raise money for the Addiction and Mental Health Building.” She also said last year’s event raised $1, 000. Ralph Brunton, President of the Optimist Club Cornwall explained their involvement in the contributing to the Children’s Wing when he said, “Anything to help with the youth, especially with children’s mental health.” Although the grand opening for the Addiction and Mental Health Building is slated for early 2017, services already in place at the new centre. W
ould you like to give something back this holiday season ? Donating money or items to a food bank (or other similar organization) is an excellent way to raise spirits and help those in need. So what should you give ? Here are a few nutritious, non-perishable grocery store items to consider. Note that breakable containers, such as glass bottles and jars, should be avoided.
• Canned beans • Canned fish and seafood • Breakfast cereals
People also need staples like oil, spices, broth and flour. Moreover, though healthy foods are important, there’s nothing wrong with including a sweet treat or two with your donation. Items that families in need can’t usually afford, such as almond butter or mixed nuts are appreciated during the holiday season. Think of what you would like to receive !
(varieties with whole grains and low sugar content are best) • Pasta (ideally whole wheat)
• Pasta sauce • Peanut butter • Canned soup • Crackers (choose carefully,
Other than food, you can also donate personal hygiene products (soap, toothpaste, tampons, tissues), household cleaning items and over-thecounter medications (cough syrup, antihistamines, vitamins). Don’t forget about the little ones, whose needs are often abundant and expensive. Young families in need would definitely appreciate diapers, formula and baby clothes.

Unisex Hair Styling closing after 41 years in the Eastcourt Mall Nick Seebruch nicholas.seebruch@tc.tc
CORNWALL, Ontario - In 1975, Jorge Luis’ father took over the Unisex Hair Styling Salon in Eastcourt Mall and it has been run as a family business ever since. “It stands out in my mind because it coincided with the third Muhammad Ali vs. Joe Frazier fright, Thrilla in Manila,” said Jorge. Jorge took over the business from his father in 1991 and ran it with his wife Maria until her death in 2008. Now though, the future of the mall is changing, and Jorge does not see a hair salon in the mall’s future. “Since 2012 or 2013, we’ve been losing a lot of stores and we lost a lot of traffic with it,” he said. “I tried to keep it going, there were sometimes where I wouldn’t take a pay.” Jorge hoped that things would change when the mall was sold this past summer, when Rio Can, the Eastcourt Mall’s former owners sold the property to Plaza Masters. “At first I was hopeful they’d be filling in some of the stores, but that was not to be,” said Jorge.
Plaza Masters is planning on re-configuring the Eastcourt Mall into a strip mall. Already new walls are being built and old stores are being cleared away. “They were very honest with us when they took over,” said Jorge. “They took over the property on July 1 and a couple of days later they told us about their plans.” Jorge decided to close the hair salon now because he feels it won’t survive in the new mall format. “My prediction is that you won’t see a hair salon going into the strip mall,” he said. “I’m very proud of this that it has been a family owned business for 41 years. You don’t see that a lot in this day and age,” he continued. “When I see someone who’s been in business for 20 plus years I know that they have put in hard work and made sacrifices.” Jorge said that he will miss all of the good memories and stories that he has experienced Jorge Luis is closing Unisex Hair Styling after 41 years of the business being in the over the years. family (Nick Seebruch/ Seaway News) “I want to thank the loyal customers that we’ve had over the years,” he said. “I got to meet and con- my long-term customers and employees. thing that I noticed,” said Voisine. “I think this is the only fire station in the country on a one way street and it affects our response time.” Voisine also noted that a new fire station could allow them to accommodate more female firefighters. “I welcome the day when we have a rush of women signing up to be firefighters, but right
now that would be a real problem for us as we don’t have the changing rooms or bathroom facilities to accommodate them,” said Voisine. “These plans can be taken into consideration in the construction of a new fire hall.” The new fire hall would be located somewhere in the North West of the City.

Fire stations CORNWALL, Ontario - The budget committee heard the case for a variety of new capital projects from various departments within the City of Cornwall on Monday afternoon. One such project was a proposed feasibility
study from Fire Chief Pierre Voisine. The objective of the proposed $50, 000 study would to find out the costs of moving the fire station on Fourth Street and its impacts on response times. A major reason for moving the station is due to its location on Fourth Street. “When I came to Cornwall, that was the first

The Agapè Centre takes up Empty Bowls to fight hunger Marc Benoit, Special to TC Media CORNWALL, Ontario - Some lucky diners in Cornwall were treated to a top chef quality soup lunch on Sunday. The Agapè Centre and Scotiabank teamed up on Sunday, November 13 to fill the bowls of 90 generous event attendees. All funds raised went directly into supporting the Agapè Centre, and its many initiatives helping the underprivileged in our community. “It’s a way to bring people together and create some awareness,” said executive director Diane Plourde. “We’re hoping that people will have fun with it, and we’re hoping to expand again next year.” Each event goer received a bowl they got to take home with them. The bowls were hand crafted by local artisans. A silent auction was also underway throughout the event’s three separate seatings, at 11 a.m., 12 p.m., and 1 p.m.. On hand to prepare the soup were some of Cornwall’s finest chefs. Joining Ludwik Piotrowski were Love Love Food’s Tony Lacroix, and NAV
Canada’s Luc McCabe, of former Master Chef fame. Ann Marlin of Marlin Orchards kickstarted the event after reaching out to the Agapè Centre, and collecting the bowls and reaching out to potters. Empty Bowls events are popular across North America, as they promote shared meals and communal spaces, local artisans, and the event goers get a momento of the fight against hunger. “It’s a fundraiser that many food banks across Canada undertake to help raise funds. The concept is really simple, we have potters who donate bowls, and everyone goes home with the empty bowl as a reminder about those who often have empty bowls,” said volunteer Kendra Smith. “For us, this was successful as we’d hoped, with all our tickets selling out. It’s the first time an event like this has been hosted in Cornwall, and people are leaving, saying they had a great time.”
Diane Plourde, Executive Director of The Agape Centre.

The plan to save rural schools CORNWALL, Ontario - A large crowd gathered at the old General Vanier school in Cornwall on Monday night to hear representatives of rural schools make their case against the school board’s plan to shut them down. On Sept. 28, the Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) presented their draft Peer Accommodation Review which called for the closure of 12 schools by the end of June 2017 with more closures possible depending on funding. Many of the schools proposed for closure are in rural communities, such as Longue Sault Public School, Char-Lan District High School, Glengarry District High School and others. Some schools, like Rothwell-Osnabruck would be transformed into a K-6 school with students in Grade 7 and above sent outside of their rural community to CCVS or St. Lawrence Secondary School in Cornwall. Whenever school closures are proposed the school board sets up an Accommodation Review Committee (ARC) to hear feedback from affected schools. The ARC heard presentations from nine delegations Monday night, none of whom were in support of the UCDSB draft proposal. “The impact on rural communities was removed from consideration by the board, but how can they ignore the economic impact of those who pay taxes to the school board,” asked Township of North

Glengarry Councillor Jeff Manley, the first person to speak to the ARC. Manley announced to the crowd that the Township of North Glengarry had commissioned Doyle Tech to conduct a study of what the impact of the closure of Maxville Public School and Glengarry District High School would be on their communities. Although the study is not yet complete, Manley stated that the annual loss of revenue to Alexandria will be $5 million a year and that property values in the community would plummet by 20 percent. South Glengarry Mayor Ian McLeod denounced the timetable being imposed on the communities as being unworkable and detrimental to finding an alternative solution. “We need more time to determine the best method to go forward,” he said. “That is why the United Counties are asking for a one-year moratorium on the entire process.” Peter Young, the Economic Development Officer for South Stormont, said that the UCDSB’s plan was pulling the rug out from under the counties and would hurt their future plans for growth. Young told the ARC that the communities of Long Sault and Ingleside were built around the schools in those communities. He then went on to explain that the communities were seeing an influx of growth which would be curtailed if the schools are lost. Young then made reference to the Provincial Policy Statement, which he pointed out promised

Rozon said that according to a survey conducted by the Save Char-Lan committee 91 percent of respondents were in favour of this solution and 82 percent opposed busing kids to schools in Cornwall. Angus McRae and Nick Danaher, two Char-Lan Grade 12 students were the last to present to the ARC and were the only ones able to give a student’s perspective. They said their parents moved to the community so that their kids could go to rural schools and how Char-Lan fit their needs by being a small, friendly school in the heart of Williamstown, near the store and the pub.

to protect and encourage growth in rural communities, something that was being contravened by the UCDSB school closure plan. Martin Lang spoke on behalf of the Glengarry Agricultural Federation and made the case that not only would this move hurt communities, but will hurt students as well by taking them away from their homes. “We need those students in rural communities,” he said. “Being a farmer is a long term apprenticeship, you start as soon as you can and help where you can and continue until you are ready to take over. And more than that,” he continued. “We need these young people to take our place in our community, they need to replace me in the volunteer Fire Department.” Former Stormont, Dundas and South Glengarry MPP Jim Brownell told the ARC that he felt his grandchildren were being used to satisfy a political agenda that favoured larger schools in cities. “I’m sick of our children and grandchildren being used as pawns to the whims of the Ministry of Education and the Upper Canada District School Board,” he said. One resolution that was presented to the ARC during the meeting came from Todd Rozon representing the Save Char-Lan committee. The plan he presented to keep Char-Lan open would involve merging Williamstown Public School and Char-Lan District High School into a single campus Grade K-12 school and close SJ McLeod and consolidating it with the new unified school.

tion in staff. “TeleTech has acquired Atelka to establish a significant footprint into Canada,” Grice said. “The company plans to invest in the current facilities to establish itself as a market leader in Canada and work to grow its business in country.”
