Simone Piccioni
Simone Piccioni
Born and raised in Rome, Simone graduated from the Rome Academy of Fine Arts and began his career imitating the paintings of Joan Mirò and Vincent Van Gogh.
In 2005 he began to professionally exhibit his art, quickly becoming one of the premiere figurative Roman artists thanks to his evocative paintings of his hometown city of Rome.
Over the years Simone has committed himself to show how beautiful our society is in his paintings, or more so how he wishes it would be seen, even in its supposed ugliness, there is always beauty seen.
Now living and working in Sydney, today Simone’s paintings have been acquired by important private collections such as the Prince of Qatar, President of Italy, and Bulgari.
Original works have been acquired or commissioned to adorn many European government buildings and palaces, including the Italian President Napolitano and luxury residences worldwide.
Renowned Italian artist Paolo Giorgi describes Simone’s landscapes as “a totemic sun illuminates by slanting cuts, or blazes up to crumbling distances or dazzling dense scrub, a place of poetry and enchantment, where Piccioni settles and indulges willingly. Endless spaces are for Piccioni a wandering among itineraries with idyllic stops where one perhaps wishes to linger in a contemplative restlessness.”

Tuscan sunset. It’s a shame we can’t paint smells. The perfume of nature, and the sweet, good Earth at the end of the day, as it prepares for the humid night and a deeper richer depth that wafts across the land.
Non Piove Piu

Framed Size: 1170 X 980 mm
Sunrise at one of my homes in the country near Bellegra, a province of Rome. It was a dry winter which gave the painted landscape an almost Autumn feel. The warm light and the absence of snow is a quite calm as we wait for the harsh cold that is about to come.

subtle hues, chaotic rhythms, ravaging bushfires and drought-breaking rains. We congregate around its edges and melt into its wild. We breathe in the majestic landscapes and immerse ourselves in its fierceness and beauty.
I am interested in the idea of romantic notions attached to the Australian bush and I am attempting to explore these elements using boundaries between abstraction and realism, emotion, and perception through my engagement with this beautiful land.
Anita’s paintings have won major awards, and her works have been selected in many art prizes across Australia. Anita’s reputation for her unique, technically proficient, and beautifully layered landscapes are highly sought after as both for investment and for private collections. Her career is continuing to gain recognition in the Australian Contemporary Market.
Anita’s Story
I grew up in North Queensland and spent my early years riding horses, camping, swimming, and enjoying the freedom of exploring the bushland and tropical beaches of home. It was in these formative years that my love of the land was nurtured and developed. Most of us live within a moment of the Australian bush and as a culture we are learning to embrace and love the distinct earthiness,
My work is mostly place based, and my practice is concerned with the recording and interpretation of natural habitat that has been preserved or protected as part of land conservation and National Park World Heritage. Also, I am interested in exploring local bushland that is under threat of development; this can be a local community bush reserve or simply a block of land that has significant native species or old growth trees that are in danger of being rezoned or under threat of human induced changes. I am always searching for new landscapes, and new influences for my paintings and I use these ideas as a backdrop for my work.
Caramel Lane and the View Over the Bay
SKU: LE-AW-001
Framed Size: 1170mm x 1180mm
This painting is a record and an impression of a beautiful natural bush reserve currently owned and maintained by the Brisbane City Council. This bushland is now under threat of development from the expansion of a local retirement village in the popular Brisbane Bayside suburb of Lota close to where I used to live. The bush reserve is high up on a hill overlooking the bay and is an important habitat for birds and local wildlife. It is a quiet, secluded strip that has mature gums and native grasses and shrubs planted and maintained by the locals. There is a little sign “Caramel Lane” that is embedded and partially obscured in the trunk of a eucalypt tree if ever you go there.
Mottlecah and Kangaroo Paw
SKU:LE-AW-003
Framed Size: 1170mm x 1180mm
The Perth Botanical Gardens have an extensive display of the Mottlecah or ‘Rose of the West”. It has large, tightly packed, silvery bluish white, and mottled coloured leaves with pink and yellow flowers. I was mesmerised by the oblong shapes and the sculptural quality of these Eucalypts mostly only found in WA, and of course the Kangaroo Paw which is the floral emblem for Western Australia. After many walks through National Parks and Bush reserves I was inspired to paint these two beautiful plants growing in amongst the native grasses of the area.
