Dodital and Dayara Bugyal Trek

E

very time I go on a trek same thoughts runs through my mind that “why am I doing this”?? Is it really worth it??The initial two days of any trek are really painful and there are times when body and mind gives up completely.. But then as and when I finish up with the trek I start thinking about when and where will be my next trek.:-) Yes it’s worth it!!!

Vipul a professional in Hospitality industry with over 12 years of experience in India and Abroad is currently working as Chef trainer at IHM Pusa. He is also passionate about photography and trekking

It has now become an addition for me. Trekking and that too in the lap of Himalayas is such an incredible feeling that one needs to be on the trail to experience it. There are various known and unknown treks near Garhwal in Uttarakhand like Rup kund, Panchuli trek and various others. Here’s my experience of my last trek to Dayara Bugyal and Dodital. Trekkers on this are trail are blessed with not only the visual treat of wonderful snow capped magnificent Himalayas but also fixed Camp sites all the way till Dodital. Dodital lies between Bandarpoonch and Swargarohini ranges on one side and opens up at the Darwa Pass towards Yamunotri on the other in Garhwal Himalayan range. This place is believed to be the birthplace of Lord Ganesha and home to Himalayan Trout. My trek was with the group “Mountain Goats” consisting 20 trekkers and 10 crew members and not to forget 6 ponies that were carrying our rucksacks, tents and kitchen essentials. We started our trip from Haridwar and it was a long 10 hours journey by bus upto Barsu -our first camp site. We took a halt at a resort there with comfortable bed and wash. The next morning we started trekking. Here I am sharing my experiences of my Dayara Bugyal and Dodital trek through a photo story. I have been trekking now since three years with little experience. But now after couple of professional treks it really feels like homecoming. This started at Mukhteshwar near Nainital where I met our team leader Mr Vikram Singh Bisht who owns a very beautiful resort at Mukhteshwar and he asked me to join him on the next trek. I agreed and now I am a member of a trekking group by the name “MOUNTAIN GOATS”. The members of this group are from various professions and backgrounds but all of them share one thing in common- The Love for Nature. Also every new member is welcomed with open hands and hearts.

Mob Museum- Las Vegas With the city's reputation as a world-class destination, it's hard to believe that less than 30 years ago hotels in Vegas were still run by the mob. The scenes depicted in the Martin Scorsese film "Casino," weren't just good film writing. That was Vegas. Visitors can learn all about the city's sordid past at the Mob Museum located in the heart of downtown Vegas on Stewart Avenue and Third Street (right by Main Street Station). The $42-million museum features interactive exhibits and artifacts that teach visitors all about the most notorious gangsters in Vegas, the history of the mafia and how organized crime impacted the rest of America and the world. Designed by the same team that created the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland and the International Spy Museum in Washington, D.C, the mob museum depicts an all-en-

compassing view of mobsters from their rise to prominence in Vegas to how law enforcement initiatives led to their demise. Not only do guests get to learn about the history of the mob, but they get a chance to do so while standing in one of the places where some of those events occurred. The 41,000-square-foot museum features 16,000 square feet of exhibit space that spans three floors. It's located inside the former federal courthouse where the 1950-51 Kefauver Committee hearings were held. The restored courthouse is one of the last remaining historical buildings in Vegas.
