SHIPPING & PACKAGING CHARGES

Pertaining to orders shipped within the continental USA: Ground service freight charges for your entire order will be charged at the time of the first shipment. Any backorders shipped after the initial shipment will not incur any additional shipping charges.

Small packages are sent by U.S. Postal Service Priority Mail. This service is the fastest and most economical for this size package. The U.S.P.S. delivers to the continental United States, as well as Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, and military addresses (APO/FPO) Monday through Saturday.

Larger packages will be shipped by regular ground service by UPS or FedEx. Ground service delivers to a large section of the U.S. within 3 days from our location. We also offer Next Day, 2nd Day, and 3 Day air delivery services. Saturday delivery service is only available with Next Day air charges for an additional fee.

OVERSIZED SHIPPING CHARGES

Some products have additional shipping charges due to heavy weight or oversize dimensions.

RUSH SERVICE

If you need your order processed and shipped the same day, we offer "RUSH" service. For an additional $5.95, any order received before 1:00 PM ET will be processed and shipped that same day. Orders received after 1:00 will ship the following business day using the "RUSH" service.

NOTE ON UPS SHIPPING CHARGES

Changes recently made by UPS have impacted shipping costs. UPS no longer uses actual weight of packages to calculate shipping. They now use “dimensional weight” of packages. We measured every product we sell and entered that information into our system. This enables our system to calculate the size box/boxes your order will ship in and calculate the shipping costs when the order is placed. Retail customers pay shipping for entire order on the 1st shipment. Corvette Central audits the calculated shipping charges after each order is complete. If we have overcharged you, we will automatically send you a Merchandise Credit for that amount you overpaid. Currently this is the best way to be fair to our customers.

BACK ORDERS

Due to the wide variety of speciality products we distribute, back orders are unavoidable. We automatically ship back orders when they come in stock. If you wish to cancel your back order, please call, email or chat for a cancellation number.

CANADIAN SHIPMENTS

Corvette Central ships to Canada via UPS exclusively. UPS and Corvette Central entered into agreements with the Canadian government in order to collect and remit all duties, taxes and brokerage when your order is processed and shipped. This allows you to know the total cost of your order to be delivered to your door, at the time your order is placed. There are no hidden charges! The exception to this program is Prince Edward Island. Orders shipping to this province will be processed through a Canadian brokerage house. We cannot ship truck freight items to Canada.

INTERNATIONAL ORDERS

We ship Corvette products to every corner of the globe. There are many variables, depending on size of order, location and timing. Please contact us by email for the most efficient and economical means of shipping your order. Due to recent changes in VAT rules, we require a minimum order of $150.00 for customers shipping to the EU.

RETURNS

• There is no need to call for authorization. Fill out the return slip enclosed with your shipment, and send the package back to us. It is recommended that you insure the package and retain your receipt of shipment. Items must be returned in the original packaging for credit.

• All returns must be made within 60 days of invoice date. After 61 days a restock fee will be charged.

• No returns on electrical products or tools.

• Items that have been installed, altered, damaged or are otherwise not in a condition to be resold will be returned to the customer at their expense.

Why go with O-Rings?

Lip seal design seals are used on 65-82 Corvette calipers and have inherent problems.

When they sit for a period of time they leak brake fluid. When they are used on a Corvette with out of spec rotors, spindles, loose bearings or a Corvette that is driven hard; they can actually suck air into the caliper fluid area causing a loss of brake pedal.

This problem is called (by GM engineers) reverse air oscillation. Because of these problems, GM quit using lip seals in 1982. O-Ring seals virtually eliminate all of these lip seal problems. If GM doesn't use lip seals anymore, why are you?

This manual is written specifically for '65-82 Corvette brake systems. It will enable the average mechanic or do-it-yourselfer to properly complete a Corvette brake job and troubleshoot typical brake problems.

Brakes

In order to maintain a hard brake pedal, it is imperative that wheel bearing and rotor run-out are within factory specifications. Failure to meet these requirements will cause a "spongy" or complete loss of pedal in a short time even with new calipers installed. A wobbly rotor or a rotor that moves in and out due to loose wheel bearings will cause the brake pads and pistons to move in and out (piston knock-back) with the help of the piston return springs, making them air pumps.

Brake Bleeder Bottle

Make bleeding your brakes a one-person job! This 16 oz. bottle connects to your brake bleeder with a one-way valve feature. Press your brake pedal and the fluid and air go into the bottle. Use the drain back fitting to secure the hose when you finish so there is no leaking of excess fluid from the hose. 73-82 Bumper Retainers

Stainless Steel hardware for mounting front or rear bumpers. Replaces original retainers. Includes nuts. Works great for installing fiberglass bumpers!

Fiberglass bumpers are a solid material and therefore need to be fitted to the body. Sanding and filling the bumper, and in some cases the body, will result in perfectly matched body lines between the bumper and the body. Fiberglass bumpers do not have the ability to absorb even minor impacts without breaking the surface. However, Corvette Central now offers TruFlex bumpers, which are constructed of fiberglass and a revolutionary new resin which makes them 70% more flexible than standard fiberglass bumpers. After fitting, TruFlex bumpers can be painted without adding a flex agent to the paint. This means that exact paint matches are easier to achieve.

Urethane bumpers were originally installed on Corvettes at the factory. They will absorb low speed impacts without bumper damage but they have a marginal fit and are subject to warping over time. Bumper to body fit is adequate but cannot be precisely fit like TruFlex bumpers. Color matches on urethane bumpers may be more difficult because a flex agent must be added to the paint, resulting in color shifts.

There is a $10.00 special box fee on most fiberglass bumpers.

Protect Your Original Engine — Don't Risk Overheating

Our correct aluminum radiators are manufactured by DeWitts and licensed by GM Restoration Parts. They are a 100% correct reproduction radiator with the GM part number and are available with the date. You will notice that we don’t list a brass radiator for small block Corvettes. Aluminum radiators work best in the Corvette because you gain almost 25% more heat transfer over inadequate brass replacements. This must be why GM used aluminum radiators in Corvettes!

RUNNING HOT?

Does your Corvette run hot or overheat when you drive slow or around town? Sometimes there is an easy fix. If the fan clutch does not function the way it should. To test it, get your engine up to normal operating temperature at idle, shut down the engine and observe fan. Fan should stop rotating 3-5 full turns after engine stops — if it spins for a long time, you have a fan clutch problem.

71 Owners: Your car would use either the 241151 or 243163 fan clutch. You will have to check your car for small or large bolt pattern.

For those who want more cooling than even a new fan clutch can offer, we have available a spacer that positions the fan properly and eliminates the fan clutch. Keep in mind that, because the fan blades will be turning faster, you will experience more fan noise.

Corvette all use short water pumps. 68-70 have a 5/8" shaft. 71-82 have a 3/4" shaft.

High performance pumps produce maximum flow and equal distribution to both sides of the block. Features include heavy duty 3/4" integral ball/roller bearings, billet steel nuts and a unique O-ring that provides a superior seal over a conventional gasket. Dash kits are available in 6 material choices. Each dash kit is crafted from a single piece of material so grain pattern and color is consistent from one piece to another. Material is laminated to a temperature stable core material to eliminate warping, and then finished with a high gloss, scratch resistant epoxy coating. All dashes are computer machined for a perfect fit and install over your existing dash with hardware and adhesive included with each kit. No-Mar dash kits are an economical alternative to real wood dashes. NoMar dashes are made of a durable, thin, scratch and stain-resistant laminate.

Most of the decals are “peel and stick” –– peel off backing and stick in place. Valve cover horsepower decals are water soluble –– soak lightly in pan of water at room temperature and decal will slide off paper backing.

These needle bearing cross gears will eliminate all the problems associated with the cross gear design. The problem is metal to metal contact between the cross gear and brass coupling. EGR - Exhaust Gas Recirculation: Exhaust gases containing unburned fuel are recirculated back into the engine to be re-burned.

EFE - Early Fuel Evaporation: Right side exhaust manifold gases (heat riser side) are recirculated to reduce emissions and shorten engine warm-up time.

TVS - Thermal Vacuum Switch: A temperature sensitive switch that controls vacuum supply to other engine components by opening and closing at specific temperatures.

A.I.R. - Air Injector Reactor (Smog Pump): A belt driven pump that injects cool outside air to the exhaust valves to promote combustion of unburned fuel.

TCS - Transmission Controlled Spark System: Introduced in 1970, this system controls exhaust emissions by eliminating vacuum advances in the lower forward gears.

• You will notice that our exhaust section does not list any stainless steel (SS) pipes.Our previous catalogs listed SS systems, but we have always promoted aluminized systems for the following reasons:

• SS retains heat which makes the pipes run hotter. This heat is radiated through the floor of the car.

• Customers that purchase SS for its appearance will be soon disapointed because the SS pipes turn blue near the manifold and yellow back to the mufflers.

• The heat retained by the SS will cause your exhaust system to grow in length as the car warms up. Customers have measured this growth at as much as 1 1/2". This change is enough to make even properly fit-ting pipes rattle.

• The stiffness of the SS causes inconsistencies in bending and also clamping difficulties.

At half of the cost, we feel that aluminized exhaust systems are the way to go. The aluminized coating on the inner and outer diameter of the pipe allows for proper cooling. SS has many good applications for restoration parts on your car, but we do not feel quality exhaust systems are one of them.

Starting in 1966, all small block exhaust manifolds were 2" and therefore, all exhaust pipes were 2" where they bolted to the manifold. Hi-performance engines used exhaust pipes that went from 2" to 2-1/2" as shown above. See exhaust application chart on page 75. This is how GM pipes were originally man ufactured. Lower horsepower engines used 2" pipe throughout the exhaust system.

Luggage Rack Information!

1968-75 Luggage racks were a dealer installed option. Over the years, GM used more than one source and unfortunately not all dealer installed racks had the same dimensions. If the luggage rack you are replacing is an original rack, please check this measurement. Racks featured in this catalog measure 14-1/4” between the two holes on each side of the rack. If your rack is slightly different, the washers supplied with the new luggage rack will cover the variance. Also noted above is the side to side hole measurements.

These exact reproduction 68-76 pillar posts and header moldings are correct color vinyl molded over foam pad with metal insert as original. 77-82’s are molded plastic as original, and are available painted in all interior colors.

Correct 68-77 coupe rear window trim is available in all three original designs for 68-77 Corvettes. The 68-72 and 73-76 1st Design rear trim is ABS covered while 76 2nd Design-77 are painted as original. All feature correct grains.

Sunvisor Repair

Tired of a sagging LH sunvisor? In many cases, this is caused by a worn out bushing in the televisor end. Corvette Central has a new bushing available to solve the problem. Order a new bushing (#133739) and if your cast support elbow is broken, replace it with a new end part (#133743).

Fix oversized holes in fiberglass. Simply spot plate over oversized hole, rivet to fiberglass using included rivets, and then drill your screw holes into metal for a permanent fix.

Perfect grain, texture, and size with hard-to-find individual model-year features. 1968 2nd Design features an extended area around the rear T-top latches. 1969-72 features contour-molded rear window latch openings. 1976 2nd Design-77 comes with predrilled clothes hanger mounting holes on passenger side. 133126

68-82 T-top panels are constructed of vinyl with an ABS substrate. Panels are correct in every detail, including attached original style hardware. 68-73 panels include larger area for sunvisors. For 76 late, the protruding area between latches tapers from 1-1/8" to 3/4" verse a constant 1/2" on the early design. T-top center panels are also correct in every detail. 1976 early did not use a pre-cut dome light opening; late 76-82 use this option.

The easiest way to tell whether a 1974 convertible rear quarter panel is early or late model is to measure the size of the shoulder belt opening. For 1974 early, it is 2-7/16" x 3-1/4"; for 1974 late, it measures 3-1/4" x 3-13/16".

These kits were factory delivered in all Corvettes from 68-75 and were dealer installed if requested in 1976. They are used to angle the seat back to a more upright position for driver comfort without interfering with the operation of the seat back safety latch. Spacers are die-cut and finished exactly as the originals. The storage bag is also the correct size and color as was supplied by Chevrolet and is available separately if needed.

It comes with a pre-welded under-dash mount, and a new factory-style firewall mount. POWER STEERING GEAR BOX

The Borgeson Conversion Box is a remanufactured GM Delphi 600 integral power steering gear box. The Delphi 600 represents the last generation of integral power steering gear box technology with true modern power steering fee, feedback, and a sporty 12.7:1 ratio. Borgeson has remanufactured this box to bolt directly to the factory mounting location and to fit the stock pitman arm. A new rag joint is included for connection to the stock column. The factory column will need to be collapsed or shortened 1-2" for clearance of conversion box. Eliminate your leaky control valve and feel the road with a new integral power steering conversion from Borgeson.

It is common for extra parts to be required to complete a rebuild that are not included in the listed rebuild charges. The prices on these extra parts vary. If it is less than $35.00, you will be billed for the extra parts and the rebuild service will be completed. Please include a current email address and phone number in the event we need to reach you for charges exceeding $35.00. If you refuse the extra costs, you will be charged $25.00 for the time the rebuilder spent to disassemble the part and diagnose the problem.

Ship the part via UPS if possible and insure the package in case of damage enroute. Put at least 3” of packing material surrounding the complete part. Write rebuild on the outside of the box. Please include this form filled out with your information. We will contact you for billing info upon receipt.
