Clint Eastwood and the 5 Most Surprising Celebrity Divorces Divorce is such a dirty word. People get divorced every day for a variety of different reasons. Some good, some bad, some valid reasons, some just plain stupidity and make no sense. While celebrities are no different than anyone else on this planet, they go through the same things we all do. Fall in and out of love, infidelity on one of the parties, cruel actions, name it, if it happens to us normal everyday people, it happens to a celebrity. Some of the divorces are so shocking at times though, even we are surprised at how bad a divorce can really get or the root cause of it. For instance…the reason for the divorce of Sandra Bullock and Jesse James:
Jesse got busted cheating on Sandy, his wife of five years not once, not twice, not even three times, so many times, they lost count. Every single person he cheated on her with went to the press to sell their story. Every single one of them apologized to Sandy stating that he promised all of them that he would leave her for them. While all of these girls have come and gone and Jesse never ended up with any of them. He has since moved on to girls like Kat Von D (who he subsequently cheated on and got busted AGAIN!) and no one really cares where he is now. However, Sandy is currently going on the October cover of Vogue. She’s currently starring in a movie with George Clooney and the buzz is she could get another Oscar nod for this. In 2010 she secretly adopted a son Louis that is her pride and joy and is living a life she always dreamed. Completely divorced from this so called bad boy of motorcycle fabrications. Bad boy indeed…busted doing the worst, do one of America’s sweet hearts…tisk tisk Jesse, tisk tisk!
Along these same lines we have all heard about the divorce of Mel and Robyn Gibson. While many women think Mel got what he deserved, not many know a lot of details. Mel is known for his very drunk and wildly outrageous non politically correct outbursts at officers. He’s also known as a cheater. He cheated on his wife Robyn of 31 years (31 years people!!!), with one person. He kept this female as his mistress for a long time. It wasn’t until this woman became pregnant with Mel’s 8th child that it came out. Robyn filed for divorce in 2009, they have seven children together and only one was a minor child. In 2011 the judge awarded Robyn the biggest divorce settlement in history, half of Mel’s total net worth due to the fact that there was NO prenuptial agreement, $425 million. Honestly, do you think Mel is looking back on this wondering if the sex was worth it? Probably so! FYI…cheaters never prosper!! However in a lot of cases there are divorces that take place and there aren’t any given reasons as to why or any inclinations at the end at all that it was to happen.
This is the case with Clint and Dina Eastwood.
Their 17 year marriage ended when Dina filed for divorce in November 2013 due to "irreconcilable differences". They have one minor child together that Dina is asking for child support for and alimony. They are all in a reality show together called Mrs. Eastwood and Company. There has been no word as to why or how this marriage has ended and what the outcome will be. Pretty shocking for everyone involved. There has been no statement other than “please respect us and our family at this time”. We all wish them the best. I’m sure Dirty Harry will come back swinging like always!
This goes along with a somewhat shocking revelation that a lot of America was stunned to find out. Janet Jackson was married for eight years without anyone knowing about it, until her husband Rene Elizondo filed for divorce in 1999. While they didn’t elope as many had thought, they did however have a prenuptial agreement that Rene worked very hard to get around due to that fact that he had no savings of his own when he filed for divorce. The divorce settlement never did come out to the public and was kept private. However, Janet did come out to say that she didn’t keep it a secret to hide and deceive anyone. She had lived her entire life in the spotlight by being a Jackson; she wanted one part of her life to be private. Many people gave her props for the fact that she was able to keep this hidden for so long and still came out on top in the end. Good going Ms. Janet! Still an amazing artist. Live your life girl! We all can’t wait to see what else you come out with!
There is another celebrity couple that hasn’t been on the radar and many didn’t even know got divorced as it wasn’t very public. Michael and Juanita Jordan. In 2002 Juanita filed for divorce from Michael and not too long after, pulled her request back and they proceeded to live as husband and wife for several more years. However in 2006 Juanita randomly decided she wanted out again. To shock and dismay of many friends and family Michael granted her this divorce after 17 years. To this day if Juanita calls for something like a broken sink or normal husbandly duties around the house, Michael is there to fix it for her. They have never faltered as parents to their three children and their friends and family were shocked by the filing mostly due to the fact that not but a few days before the filing, the entire family was seen out at their oldest child’s basketball game having a normally great time. While many people speculate that it was the fact that Michael is an incredible icon and not only did women fall and pawn all over Michael, but men and children did too leaving many to wonder if she couldn’t handle being the wife of such a legend. Some wonder if she just needed a life of leisure away from the spot light. Since no more news has come to light, it’s all just speculation now. One thing is for sure, they keep their kids at their main priority, which is for the best, of course.
Last but obviously not least, the most outrageous marriage and subsequent divorce has to be brought up. Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. While we ALL thought Tom had gone off his rocker when he jumped on Oprah’s couch and shouted how in love he was with Katie Holmes, he was devoted to her through thick and thin. He actually was able to conceive a child that we was not able to do with Nicole Kidman, he brought Katie into the world of Scientology (regardless of your beliefs, we do need to respect his choices here), went around the world filming some good and bad movies. Had a spectacular, most romantic wedding a lot of us will ever see and they both looked blissfully happy. There was no cheating involved, no “irreconcilable differences” leading them to file for divorce, no fighting, no nothing really. What it came right down to, from Tom himself he has stated, Katie divorced him simply because she wanted to take her daughter, her flesh and blood away from Scientology. Felt that she deserved a fighting chance in this world to make the decision for herself to decide to go that route. All any of us can say is good for her. While you don’t see any of them out and about a lot due to their schedules, you do see a happier Katie, you do see a much more head up, shoulders back, confident Katie. She’d not hiding behind the icon that once was Tom Cruise. She made the ultimate decision to put her child first. Once again making the ultimate sacrifice for her child. In the end, the best reason I think for a divorce, if the child is the happiest they can be and it takes the parents not being together for that to happen, so be it.
