Coshocton County Map Downtown Coshocton Roscoe Village
Mary Harris, a Native American captive, is considered the first white woman settler in the Ohio Country. She and her family settled in a nearby town in 1748. She was so respected by her peers that they named the town Whitewoman Town and the trail to the town was named Whitewoman Trail. That trail became today’s Whitewoman Street.

Coshocton is Blooming promotes beautification programs throughout the city and county of Coshocton by the use of flowers, plants, and trees to preserve historic structures and generally enhance commercial areas. The Old Stone fort is speculated to be the oldest building in Ohio, and possibly the Midwest. Most believe it was built by the French explorer, D’iberville, one of LaSalle’s aides, between 1679 and 1689.
Coshocton is proud to host the UKC Beagles Nationals and several hunts including the Don McVay Memorial.

Because of the slow flowing Tuscarawas and Walhonding rivers and the old growth trees in Coshocton County, Bald Eagles are thriving here!
One of Ohio’s oldest covered bridges, the Helmick Covered Bridge was fundamental to commerce in the late 1800s. People loved this historic bridge so much they raised $250,000 to restore the bridge and open it to the public. It’s Coshocton County’s one and only covered bridge! CVB17_34
