Strike called off at Torrevieja Hospital

the committee oftorrevieja hospital has called off the strike that was scheduled for 11th april after having reached an agreement with the Ministry of health regarding the working conditions for permanent staff members and statutory personnel of the health department. this is the best agreement that could have been reached, according to Fran García, the works council spokesman. he said when comparing this situation with that of the alzira health department, which reverted from being privately managed by rivera to public management. the company committee has implied that the negotiation of the collective agreement is ongoing and that this initial agreement has only been made in order to meet enough basic needs to ensure the strike was called off. plans are being discussed to be implemented over the next five years including the commitment to reduce working hours until it reaches 1,513 hours for statutory staff in 2028, which translates into 35 hours a week. improvements to sick leave and maternity leave will also be made in 2023, along with negotiations for the progressive increase in the pay for on-call hours moving towards the equalisation of pay with the statutory staff. the works council has thanked the Ministry of health for its change of attitude in the last three meetings and hope that it will continue in the next two meetingson 20th april and 5th May, when it will be agreed how the implementations will be implemented between 2024 and 2025.
