New municipal animal shelter gets local government go ahead

the local Government Board has approved the tender Specifications for Construction Management and Contracting of the Works of the new Municipal animal Shelter. these facilities are currently in basic conditions and in great need of improvement, the main reason for this contract, although at the moment they have the largest number of staff assigned to the shelter, volunteer collaboration and are open morning and afternoon 365 days a year.

the new project was approved on 10 January 2023 and has had to undergo a price update due to the revision of raw materials currently affecting the international market. after the revision, the initial tender price amounts to 1,424,102.62 euros and the planned period for the execution of the works is nine months from the awarding of the contract. this will be carried out through the torrevieja City Council’s Framework agreement for Contracting and the corresponding invitations to tender will be sent out next tuesday, 11 april, to the possible successful bidders, which are:

Construcciones S.l. the project for the new Municipal animal Shelter, which will be built on the same site as the current one in avda. de los nenúfares, includes the construction of a main building of 445.46 square metres which will house the administration and operational rooms, multipurpose areas and others. the roofed animal housing area will cover an area of 308.40 square metres and the caged animal housing area will extend over 367.60 square metres. in total, the shelter will have a built-up area of 1,121.46 square metres.

Finally, it should be noted that the department of animal protection is finalising a special arrangement to ensure that the work runs smoothly and is compatible with the normal running of the shelter.
