Planning area: 198,26 Ha Project time scale: 2000-2015 1860-1960: CATALAN MANCHESTER, Poble Nou quickly became the most industrialized part of town. Introduction of the first train track. 1960-1986: INDUSTRIAL DESERTATION of Poble Nou 1992: RENOVATION of the City due to the Summer Olympic Games. Ring roads were introduced, Avinguda Diagonal was erected linking Poble Nou to downtown Barcelona through the city’s business core. 2000: Public debate on the re-use of 200 Hectars of industrial land. This is known as Plan 22@: re interpretation of the former industrial textile neighborhood of Poble Nou creating a new model for urban space.

1960’s and 1970’s: Basse di Stura used as a metallurgical waste dump. 2000: Legal and illegal activities present on site. Rockwood company, production of organic pigments for food, construction and cosmetic toxic wastes and landfill AMIAT who’s activity shall end in 2009. Today these represent pressure factors, social and economic naspects of various levels such as visual impact, air emissions, odor, air pollution and soil damage to the health and social, water and noise pollution.
