RACING TO THE TOP WITH MIKE TUSTIN We caught up with local racer Mike Tustin to find out what it takes to make it in the world of superbike racing.
Anyone who has met Mike “Tyko” Tustin would all say the same thing - one of the nicest lads you will ever meet. But at 32 years old this fearless motorcycle racerider has a seriously crazy streak inside that would give me sleepless nights if he were my offspring. After a few years of riding for fun and gaining confidence he dreamed of racing professionally and started saving his money to kick-start his career. At 25 years old he lined up for his first track race at Mallory Park, finishing a respectable 17th, but most importantly for him it was the start of a passion that wasn’t ever going to leave him Racing at speeds upwards of 175 mph there’s very little margin for error, but for Mike it’s a burning passion that’s driven by sheer determination to win. His latest track successes have fired him up even more for another great season to please his fans and particularly his loyal sponsors like AXD Special Projects, Keder Greenhouses, Abssac, DP Valve Spares, GC Accountancy, and Cotswold Security Group, Henson Plant to name but a few.

At 1000cc his Ducati Panigale V2 is capable of reaching speeds of around 175 mph, and cornering at 130mph, this sport is not for the faint hearted! Mike adds: ”I remember winning my first 600cc club race at 25 years of age, and my aim was to be as good as Valentino Rossi, the top racer in my sport.”

www.cotswoldxlmamagazine.com
The league Mike races in is the Ducati TriOptions cup, which is run over 8 rounds and 16 races. Sitting in 8th position in the league, it’s been an exciting season so far with one race to go. Mike also found success last year when he emphatically won and claimed the 2020 R&G Shield Championship. Mike adds: ”A top 5 finish would be amazing, as this league is ultra competitive.
“
I would just like to thank everyone around me for making my life great, and for the support of those closest to me including Kharinna my beautiful partner and biggest supporter, and to my workmates mark and Steve for everything they do…and a big thumbs up to my race team AH Performance and my loyal sponsors for helping to make racing possible.

Chris Leach Dry Stone Walling and Landscaping employs a small team who carry out a wide variety of walling tasks, ranging from small repairs to large projects. They have also extended their portfolio to include landscaping projects such as paving, paths, fencing and other types of wall construction. Chris Leach commented “I feel we are extremely fortunate to live and work in such a beautiful part of the world and it’s a great privilege to carry on such an ancient traditional craft in some amazing locations.”
Chris Leach of Chris Leach Dry Stone Walling and Landscaping has his roots very much in the Cotswolds. He grew up on a farm in Little Rissington and moved to Blockley over 20-years ago. Initially starting his career in automotive parts, after 10-years he felt he needed a career change. Chris had a keen interest in Dry Stone walling and attended a course organised by the Dry-Stone Walling Association (DSWA) in 2003, which he has stated was an “extremely well run, interesting and enjoyable weekend”. He then transferred the skills learnt into practising his art at every opportunity until he felt ready to take the plunge and resign from his employed work. Chris was offered an opportunity with Batsford Estate where he continues to work regularly. Thanks to the miles of Dry-stone Walls around the Cotswolds he is keenly sought-after. HOW WE WENT FROM TRICKS TO TREATS THE TRUE STORY OF HALLOWEEN It’s that time of year again where you bring out the sweets and the scary costumes, and more, to celebrate Halloween. Following last year’s events, there’s so much more to be excited about this year! Regardless of one’s age, you are never too old to celebrate Halloween. So here are some fun facts about our scariest annual celebration:
Country Living says that the word itself literally means ‘hallowed evening’ and was previously known to early European celebrators as ‘All Hallows’ Eve.’ All Hallows’ Eve (31 October) and All Saints’ Day (1 November) both paid homage to saints (hallows = saints). The name was eventually shortened to Halloween.
As early as the 7th century CE, All Hallows’ Eve was celebrated on 13 May. Pope Boniface IV decided to change the observance to its current date to offset the occasion with a religious celebration.
14
www.cotswoldxlmamagazine.com
Halloween falls on 31 October because the ancient Gaelic festival of Samhain occurred on this day. This was a time when seasons changed, and observers also believed the boundary between this world and the next were becoming scarily close. As a result, on the night of 31 October, they celebrated Samhain, when it was believed the ghosts of the dead returned to earth.
Celts thought that the presence of spirits made it easier for the Druids (Celtic priests) to make predictions about the future.
To commemorate the event, practising Druids built massive bonfires, where people gathered to burn crops and animals as sacrifices to the Celtic deities. Many Celts wore costumes and told each other’s fortunes.
Centuries later, when the American colonies were established by the British, Maryland and the southern colonies celebrated Halloween. The beliefs and customs of the different European ethnic groups and American Indians merged, which is how the uniquely American version of Halloween began. The first celebrations were ‘play parties’ and ghost stories.
Over time, Americans would dress up in costumes and go house to house asking for food or money. At the turn of the nineteenth century, Halloween parties for children and adults became more common and it became more of a holiday in the US.

Vegetable Matters of Ebrington The farm shop brimming with super-fresh vegetables grown on the Drinkwater brothers’ Cotswolds fields.
The farm shop is always fully stocked with a wide range of vegetables and potatoes grown around the local village of Ebrington on owned and rented land, by Peter’s brothers (Andrew, Simon and Doug Drinkwater) and staff. All the vegetables have no food miles or unnecessary packaging which is a big draw for local people, especially knowing where the produce has come from and an on-site butcher makes it complete. Many will venture into our lovely café or the patio, where lovely views over the surrounding Cotswold hills can be taken in. We serve fresh home-cooked food on the premises by trained staff – our build your own and all-day breakfasts being extremely popular. Barista coffee and home-made cakes and scones are always available. We have a very loyal and regular clientele whom, we are proud to service. They love the buzz of the atmosphere and eating on the patio whilst enjoying the surrounding scenery.
Vegetable Matters opened its door in July 2017 after Pete and Ama nda Drinkwater felt a huge void would be missing after the family reluctantly closed a fruit & vegetables shop in near Chipping Campden. A business plan was formed, and a lovely designed building was constructed, comprising of a farm Shop and café... then in 2020 we added a traditional butchery to the site which has proved a roaring success. We pride ourselves on customer Service and quality, with very friendly helpful staff who always go above and beyond to look after its customers.

HOW SARA & TERRY TODD TRANSFORMED THE SWAN INN INTO A LOCKDOWN SUCCESS Terry Todd, Manager at Moreton’s The Swan, sat down with Cotswold XL discuss his pub’s incredible transformation during lockdown.
Tell me something unique about The Swan that people might not know about? The pub was founded in the 1700s and it is popular with locals and travellers, especially as they can arrive in Moreton via the train station. Our produce is local and loaded to order. We were doing very brisk trade prior to lockdown, but once lockdown took hold we had to diversify our business by offering a takeaway service which became very popular. We have nine rooms on offer, and we have a B&B service. Over the Christmas period we were fully booked and looking forward to one of our best festive periods ever, but as Christmas approached, we were hit by a devastating flood that closed us down immediately. We used the next two months to completely refurbish the establishment and rebrand our marketing strategy with CotswoldXL. They have helped us enormously across all of our media platforms ensuring that we had a very successful launch as lockdown eased.

What inspired you to become a manager and how long have you been a manager for? Sara worked at the Royal Hotel Bath, and I was a senior manager for BMW. We then decided to manage a pub and took over The Swan on 9th November 2009. Why should people eat at The Swan and what is unique about it? We have a sports bar next door, and we have 19 different gins on offer. We also provide afternoon teas and cakes. The function room caters for 40 people and there is a skittles room inside. What is your plan beyond lockdown? We want to offer small weddings, wakes, private parties, birthday parties, business meetings, and a large beer garden for over 50 people. What has been your greatest accomplishment and your greatest challenge so far? The biggest challenge has been completely refurbishing the pub after the floods and getting it open in time for the end of lockdown. Cotswold XL helped us out with our marketing and social media presence. What are you going to do when you retire? Retirement is a distant thought, but it would be nice to focus on our joint passion of buying and selling antiques.

JUDAH'S STRESS FREE LIFE ON THE ROAD Chainsaw carver Judah gives fallen wood a new purpose, bringing it to life with his beautiful wooden sculptures…
If you’re a regular driver on the local Cotswold and Vale roads, you have probably passed this young man and his grazing horses a hundred times and probably never given them a second thought! Roadside carver Judah Harry tells his story with his chainsaw, giving beautiful old fallen wood a new purpose whilst earning a few quid to keep his chainsaw running and food for his beloved pet horses and dog…

www.cotswoldxlmamagazine.com
24 year old Judah has been on the road with his horses and cart for nearly 8 years, having been raised by his parents in much the same way for most of his life. For Judah, chainsaw carving is a passion and a way of combining his self taught creative talent with the love of freedom that his nomadic lifestyle brings. Judah’s off-the-grid way of life brings him into contact with lots of people who stop for a friendly chat and to admire his wooden creations. Judah adds: “I love nothing more than to show off my sculptures and answer the questions of friendly folk who are intrigued by the way I live, and to let their children stroke the horses. “This life isn’t for everyone, imagine the long cold winter nights, whilst I’m snuggled up on my own in the cart with just my dog for company- I love it and some people say I must be crazy, but I feel blessed for every day I’m travelling the countryside and just living my fantastic life.” Next time you’re passing, why not stop and see his amazing carvings up close and personal.

Top achievement award for local family funeral service. Lewis Tout of Julie Sullivan Independent Family Funeral Directors of Moreton-in-Marsh has won the new Matthew Gallagher Achievement Award given by The Independent Funeral Director’s College. Lewis has started his studies to become a qualified funeral director through the college and the award recognised his hard work to achieve the qualifications gained so far. The presentation took place at the Manor of Groves Hotel, Sawbridgeworth on June 30 which also celebrated the IFD college’s 25th anniversary. Lewis feels that learning whilst working is an invaluable way of understanding the industry and the IFDC allows students to develop the skills at their own pace. The business is led by Julie Sullivan who holds the national recognised full Diploma in Funeral Directing through the National Association of Funeral Directors and endorsed by Birmingham City University. She is also a member of the Independent Funeral Directors College and is actively maintaining and developing her knowledge to perform to the highest standard within the profession. Julie has lived and served her community for nearly 50 years and has a wealth of local knowledge. Prior to embarking on running her own
business she has been responsible for managing and running a successful local funeral home. Recently the business has also gained accreditation through The National Society of Allied and Independent Funeral Directors (SAIF) and The National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD). Julie said she was very proud of what Lewis has achieved so far. It can be a very difficult career, however very rewarding and as an independent business you must understand all aspects of the job. It is important to show families that the business has professional credibility especially since a two and a half year investigation by The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) on 16th June 2021 published a set of requirements, in the form of a legally binding Order under the Enterprise Act 2002, that ALL funeral businesses must abide by. There are a number of steps funeral firms must now take, by 16 September 2021. If we can be working to the highest standards through education and the accreditations, the Order will cement the hard work all members of team are currently achieving. Content: supplied

WHAT A WHOPPER Evesham asparagus grower
Mark Meadows was astonished to find this enormous piece of asparagus growing amongst
his glasshouse crop... Weighing in at an impressive 166 grams, it’s the largest piece he’s ever picked. A normal round of
“gras” normally consists of 6 to 8 pieces weighing in at about 250 grams.
Evesham has long been
considered the ‘capital’ of asparagus growth – with
growth of the delicacy dating
back to 1768 – and the town has recently celebrated its annual British Asparagus Festival. But
now its status is official, putting Vale of Evesham asparagus
among just 78 food and drinks with Protected Geographical Indication (#pgi) status
including the likes of Scotch
whisky, Champagne, Cognac, Parmesan, Cornish pasties
and Jersey Royal potatoes. It is hoped this status will grow
sales and boost tourism to the area.

NO TIME TO DIE A thrilling but puzzling conclusion to Daniels Craig’s Bond films
Director Cary Joji Fukunaga has done himself proud with this final James Bond installment. Director: Cary Joji Fukunaga. Starring: Daniel Craig, Rami Malek, Lea Seydoux, Lashana Lynch, Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw, Jeffrey Wright, Ana de Armas. 12A, 163 minutes. Pardon the pun, but there is no time to sleep whilst watching James Bond: No Time To Die because the suspense and action keeps you on the edge of your seat. It was hard not to enjoy this film. Cari Joji Fukunaga has brought the Daniel Craig Bond films to a nice conclusion. The core premise is a biological weapon of mass destruction, known as Heracles, has been stolen from a secret laboratory by Bond’s arch nemesis SPECTRE. The main villain is Lyutsifer Safin (Rami Malek), who is portrayed as an angry little man who wants to punish the whole world just because the father of Bond’s lover Madeleine Swann (Lea Seydoux) wiped out his entire family.
28
www.cotswoldxlmamagazine.com
Craig is brilliant throughout the entire film, no doubt because he knows it’s his final stint at playing Bond, and his performance will be etched into the minds of many Bond fans forever. Ever since Casino Royale was released in 2006, the Bond films have subtlety adapted to a post-Bourne universe, but Fukunaga added his own stamp to James Bond. He used his prior experience working on True Detective to deliver a thrillingly tense film. However, the plot twists represent a radical leap from previous Bond flicks. Considering James Bond is a quintessentially British character who has enjoyed a remarkable life span, the ending leaves many of us puzzled as to how the Bond universe will survive. Has it become a convenient excuse to take the franchise in a completely new direction? Who knows? Many traditional Bond characters like M (Ralph Fiennes), Q (Ben Whishaw) and Moneypenny (Naomie Harris) have been left behind in this post-Craig universe, which leaves some fans wondering what role these survivors could play in future installments. Hopefully, we will find out one day.

an interview with glen brotherton and mick harris managing directors of evesham trade supercentre Cotswold XL met with Glen and Mick, the G&M of GM Roofing, to discuss their success story and how the business has grown to become the Supercentre it is today!
We asked how the story began… GM Roofing was founded 14 years ago. We started off as two local lads with a van and years of experience between us. We investigated a new rubber roofing product which no other roofing company in Evesham was offering, this was the USP we needed to start a business. We had tried and tested the rubber roofing at a company in Birmingham and were so impressed with the product that we knew we had to bring it to Evesham and the surrounding area. Seven years on, we were struggling to source materials locally to complete GM Roofing installations. We could only purchase materials from the Birmingham area and the north. The rubber roofing product was becoming increasingly popular and we knew that we needed to offer the local area with a supply facility. We purchased a premises in order to open

a trade centre and started selling the product to local tradespeople. We quickly became a trusted distributor, employing a small team. The reputation of GM Roofing quickly grew as a professional and trusted home improvement company and we were being contacted by customers from surrounding areas including the Cotswolds, Warwickshire and Herefordshire. With GM firmly established and our own premises, the next stage of growth was a natural one. Using Micks background and extensive knowledge of UPVC products, ETC windows, doors and conservatories was launched. We were now able to offer a complete home improvement service to the customer and as a result the Evesham Trade Centre increased its offering to the trade customer by supplying not only roofing supplies but a whole new range of plastics, glass and accessories.
And how the story continues… In April 2021 we moved into a new, improved premises and rebranded ourselves as Evesham Trade Supercentre, we knew that we were more than a simple Trade Centre, offering an extensive product range to the roofing and glazing industries. Our new premises is not only home to the Trade Centre but also our continually growing areas of the business with dedicated Customer Care, Operations and Accounts departments. The business currently employs 25 people including skilled craftsmen, office staff and departmental managers. We are extremely proud to have employed fifteen people in 2020, a huge achievement during such uncertain times. Being able to provide ongoing employment is hugely rewarding. What inspired you to become involved in the world of business and what is your driving force today? We have always had dreams and aspirations which continue to become bigger and better. The journey so far has been a lot of hard work but very much worth it. The product initially inspired us to go for it. We knew that our product was the best on offer and we continue to ensure a quality product at all times. Rubber roofing convinced us to go on our own and start the business. Our joint passion to offer an unrivalled quality service and quality product to our customers is what drives us today. What type of products and services do you offer? At GM Roofing, we offer total reroofs to both flat and tiled roofs. Fascia, soffit and guttering replacement, immediate repairs, installation, and cement work. We also offer anything externally on the roofline, including the removal of a handful of tiles to the removal of a whole roof. At ETC Windows we offer a comprehensive home improvement service to include windows, doors, conservatories, orangeries and the very popular Guardian roofing system. We also provide a repair and small installation service to new and existing customers. All installation work is supported by guarantees with a Customer Care team always ready to help.
Why should people choose your services? How are you different to your competitors? We supply a large majority of local tradespeople in Evesham with windows, doors, conservatories and roofing supplies. We are 100 per cent committed to our customers with a dedicated customer care team, providing a quality installation service using quality product. We pride ourselves on excellent service and product, as a result our repeat business and customer referrals equate to over 60% of our ongoing business. Word of mouth is of utmost importance to us and we are thankful to all of our customers who recommend us. We are proud to receive outstanding customer reviews on Which Trusted Trader, Google, Facebook and other platforms. How has business been during lockdown? Has it been challenging so far? Or just the same? We have experienced an exciting boom with the busiest 12 months since we started the business. Contributing factors being ..people at home more, appreciating their surroundings and wanting to improve their homes. An increase in customer referrals which is testament to our level of customer care and quality of workmanship. A desire to expand and grow by recruiting more installation teams and purchasing additional vans. Finally I asked Glen and Mick…What has been your greatest challenge and your greatest accomplishment so far in your career? Mick - From not enjoying school to building a multimillion-pound turnover company is my biggest achievement. It’s been challenging with long days and long weeks, but dedication, hard work and a true vision have been my motivation. Glen - In my wildest dreams I never thought the business would be what is is today, I am over the moon. To be able to sit down and realise what we have achieved is great. Our wives have supported us throughout. This is a journey we (Mick and I) are both on, it has been rewarding and we cannot wait to see what the future holds.

AN INSIGHT INTO MORETON IN MARSH Here’s a glimspe of the beautiful Cotswold village of Moreton-in-Marsh.
The name Moreton-in-Marsh is rather obscure. Henmarsh notes that the word Moreton mostly originated from Old English, and it means ‘a farm or settlement on the moor.’ The ‘in-Marsh’ suffix is a little less clear. It could be a corrupted term of ‘Henne and Mersh’ – an area of marshy land where game such as Moorhens may be discovered. Another explanation is that it is a corruption of the word ‘March’, or a boundary. Either way, such quirky facts about this town only make it more interesting. Moreton is built on the route of the old Roman Fosse Way which ran from Exeter through Bath, Cirencester, and Leicester. Following the Roman conquest of Britain in 43AD, they built a large settlement at Dorn, two miles north of Moreton.
A Charter for the town to become a weekly market was procured by the Enterprising Abbot of Westminster in 1227. King Charles I then granted the town another market charter in 1638. Most of Moreton’s buildings were constructed in the 17th and 18th centuries when the town prospered because of the wool trade, but it was not until 1853 when its station on the Oxford, Worcester and Wolverhampton railway opened, the line being taken over by GWR in 1862. In 1940, a large area east of the town was developed as RAF Moreton-in-Marsh and used as a training airfield, mostly by Wellington bombers. Sadly, 38 men flying to or from the town lost their lives during the Second World War. This town has so much more history and with Oxfordshire, Warwickshire, and Gloucestershire nearby, Moreton-in-Marsh represents the perfect day out. It is worth a visit.

The next time you are washing your hands and complain because the water temperature isn’t just how you like it, think about how things used to be. Here are some facts about the 1500s:
Most people got married in June because they took their yearly bath in May, and they still smelled pretty good by June. However, since they were starting to smell. ... . brides carried a bouquet of flowers to hide the body odour. Hence the custom today of carrying a bouquet when getting married.
Houses had thatched roofs-thick straw-piled high, with no wood underneath. It was the only place for animals to get warm, so all the cats and other small animals (mice, bugs) lived in the roof. When it rained it became slippery and sometimes the animals would slip an and fall off the roof. Hence the saying “It’s raining cats and dogs.”

Sometimes they could obtain pork, which made them feel quite special.. When visitors came over, they would hang up their bacon to show off. It was a sign of wealth that a man could, “bring home the bacon.” They would cut off a little to share with guests and would all sit around and chew the fat.
The floor was dirt. Only the wealthy had something other than dirt. Hence the saying, “Dirt poor.” The wealthy had slate floors that would get slippery in the winter when wet, so they spread thresh (straw) on floor to help keep their footing. As the winter wore on, they added more thresh until, when you opened the door, it would all start slipping outside. A piece of wood was placed in the entranceway. Hence: a thresh hold.
Baths consisted of a big tub filled with hot water. The man of the house had the privilege of the nice clean water, then all the other sons and men, then the women and finally the children. Last of all the babies. By then the water was so dirty you could lose someone in it. Hence the saying, “Don’t throw the baby out with the bath water!”
(Getting quite an education, aren’t you?) Those with money had plates made of pewter. Food with high acid content caused some of the lead to leach onto the food, causing lead poisoning. This happened most often with tomatoes, so for the next 400 years or so, tomatoes were considered poisonous. There was nothing to stop things from falling into the house. This posed a real problem in the bedroom where bugs and other droppings could mess up your nice clean bed. Hence, a bed with big posts and a sheet hung over the top afforded some protection. That’s how canopy beds came into existence.
In those old days, they cooked in the kitchen with a big kettle that always hung over the fire.. Every day they lit the fire and added things to the pot. They ate mostly vegetables and did not get much meat. They would eat the stew for dinner, leaving leftovers in the pot to get cold overnight and then start over the next day. Sometimes stew had food in it that had been there for quite a while. Hence the rhyme: Peas porridge hot, peas porridge cold, peas porridge in the pot nine days old.
England is old and small, and the local folks started running out of places to bury people. So they would dig up coffins and would take the bones to a bone-house, and reuse the grave. When reopening these coffins, 1 out of 25 coffins were found to have scratch marks on the inside and they realised they had been burying people alive. So they would tie a string on the wrist of the corpse, lead it through the coffin and up through the ground and tie it to a bell. Someone would have to sit out in the graveyard all night (the graveyard shift.) to listen for the bell; thus, someone could be, saved by the bell or was considered a dead ringer...
And that’s the truth... Now, whoever said History was boring ! ! ! 43

TIME OUT WITH BRIAN WITHEFORD,
OWNER AND DIRECTOR OF HENSON SURFACING. A business built on solid foundations.
Q.
Tell us about Henson Surfacing – what is the business all about? When was it founded?
A.
Henson Surfacing is a spin-off from Henson Plant, which was the original business founded 25 years ago. We started the surfacing division two years ago due to increased customer demand. We decided to rename the surfacing division to make it more available for customers to employ our services. Henson Surfacing and Henson Plant are divisions of the same company.
Q.
What type of products and services do you offer?
A.
We offer tarmacking, resin-bound, block paving, aggregate and Cotswold stone, along with a complete high quality installation service.
Q.
How has business been during lockdown? Has it been challenging so far? Or just the same?
A.
Our business flourished during lockdown, as people began to focus on their outside spaces. All the home-improvements sector experienced a boom and as a knock-on effect work began to flood in. Furlough gave customers the security to make them realise they could afford certain jobs that needed doing at their homes because they were not about to lose their incomes.
Q. Q.
Why should people choose your services? How are you different to your competitors?
A.
I believe that we are reliable and trustworthy and offer people a great value service.

What has been your greatest challenge and your greatest accomplishment so far in your career?
A.
My greatest accomplishment has been launching the surfacing side of the business from scratch.

MEDIEVAL BANQUET SET TO FOLLOW TWO SUCCESSFUL BATTLE OF EVESHAM EVENTS Following the success of two Battle of Evesham events held in May and August, tickets are being sold for a medieval banquet happening in October.
Taking place on Saturday 23 October at All Saints Church, Evesham, from 7pm until midnight, it promises to be a night of jovial japery, medieval music, and dancing performances. Guests will be provided with a four-course meal, and they are only allowed to wear medieval costumes. On 7-8 August, the town celebrated the annual Battle of Evesham celebrations which were suspended last year due to lockdown. Attendants were treated to a medieval festival and a battle re-enactment on Evesham’s Crown Meadow, which involved over 300 soldiers plus up to 15 mounted knights. During the first day of the August weekend, there was also a grand parade through the town, including re-enactors and local schools. Other activities included living history encampments, weapon demonstrations, medieval musicians and dancing, and demonstrations from craftsmen. Children were kept entertained by activities and educational family fun, and there was a bar with music for adults to enjoy. There were more than 500 performers on-site.
56
www.cotswoldxlmamagazine.com
Back in May, Evesham’s residents flocked into the town to attend its beloved annual medieval fayre. The event took place on 22-23 May and there was an outdoor market that included knights demonstrating armour and weaponry from 1066 to 1485 in the Abbey ruins, community stalls in St Lawrence’s church, along with artisan craft, food and drink stands. The Abbey Cloisters and Nave were opened for the first time in 600 years. “Despite the stormy Friday setup and the howling gales and heavy rain on Sunday evening’s break-down, the Evesham Medieval Market Weekend was blessed by a sunny Saturday and calm Sunday morning, which brought an estimated 5,000 to 7,000 into the heart of Evesham town centre. The 82 traders all reported brisk business, many saying it was their best market of the year so far. The town centre bars and cafés all looked busy and there was a fantastic vibe in all three parts of the Medieval Market,” said event Mr Hurst. Mid Worcestershire MP Nigel Huddleston and Evesham Mayor Sue Amor were among the special guests who showed their support for the historical event. Evesham’s Mayor welcomed attendees before a live re-enactment took place. Admission to the Evesham Medieval Market was free, with any funds raised through donations going towards the Battle of Evesham Festival in August. Next year’s medieval fayre will take place on 21-22 May.
Tickets for the first Evesham Medieval Banquet on 23 October are selling quickly. For more information, visit www. battleofevesham.co.uk and Facebook.

Q.
How did you get involved with Cotswold XL?

I will be shooting drone footage for many different applications, and Chris will use the footage though his social media marketing platform to help businesses promote in a very unique way.
Q.
What is the best thing about working for Cotswold XL so far?

Q. a.
Who edits these fantastic movie clips?
We are lucky to have Josh Higham on our team, who coordinates the creation of digital content and his design and editing skills are phenomenal.
